North Korea and US politics

Here’s another news item which I’m pretty sure is not being reported on fox.

two files about Cohen's business dealings are missing from a government database. The SARS document that the bank files when they suspect money laundering and bribery are missing from the government database. Everything else is there except two. Wonder which two.

Coincidences are piling up.

And that payment that trump said he didn’t make and didnt know. Yeah the one he denied even knowing about. The one his lawyer and his lawyers went on the tv tour to deny. Yeah that one. Well it turns out he paid Cohen 130k for the stormy Daniels file. He filed papers now that he did pay it back.
Now the matter has been referred to ethics committee. Not that anything will happen but harry is right.

It’s deny deny. Obscure the truth. Create chaos. Send out your people to lie and deny for you and see how much is acceptable out there in the public. Then drop the truth like Giuliani did last week and give them a week to adjust and see what the fallout is. And then go ahead come clean. Or as much as they can come clean. Never apologize. And wash rinse repeat for the next one.

Speaking of ethics committee they might wanna check out that zte China deal with the USA and look into that hotel project that the trumps got for it from China.

Probably best, if referring to ‘dumbing down’, that they get their they’re/their use correct. Otherwise some asshole, like myself, will post a post like this :p
What did you just call my mum?

Sorry to go slightly off topic re Korea, but my feeling is the money russia spent on 'pro trump' social media content would be a fraction of that spent by other lobby groups/individuals, I think the democrats have to take some blame for putting forward hiliary and bernie, who were either too divisive or carrying too much baggage to win over enough of the mainstream vote regardless of any russian efforts to help trump.

A Four year term goes quick these days and in the last year nothing much gets done and the election process starts up again, who will the democrats pin their hopes on for 2020? I think trump will race again but who knows, I was surprised by this stormy daniels story which if true could lose him a lot of votes next time, but the democrats will still need a credible candidate.

The momentum the dems have or had will be gone by the time elections come up. They can’t seem to get their act together.

I think it will be more than stormy Daniels that will not let trump be re-elected for president.

I just don't understand americans in general. George W. Bush had two very smart opponents in presidential elections. But they didn't get elected 'cause...there were "elites"? Sounded too smart for americans? It's like being a smart person is a bad thing in US...they get labeled as "elites". And somehow Trump isn't elite with all his money and living sheltered life. He knows nothing but he sounds more like a normal person so...that's a good thing?

Feels like moral standards are irrelevant as long as people get a few bucks more to their own wallet. People don't seem to care how corrupt their government is as long as it benefits them too. Scott Pruitt is a perfect example how Trump's world does things.
You have so many things to get fixed in US, but nothing gets done. I wonder what republican message will be in next elections. You got your tax cuts...now what? More tax cuts?

I just don't think it's democrat's fault that people choose these things. They knew what they were getting with Trump and they chose him anyway. They also chose all those republicans and republican message was pretty clear. It's just the way US is at the moment.

Enough of the country rejected the message of wealth distribution via the tax code, open borders, and had enough of the pc culture. Socialism is a bit of a dirty word over here.

Given Trump's persona, Hillary should have won hands down.

I think its only temporary, as blackhole pointed out, the schools/colleges are pumping out "group thinkers" aka, Borgs at an alarming rate.

Is it because socialism is assosciated to wealth distribution or why is it so dirty word there? I mean what kind of images people get from socialism?

Well just heard that 40% of americans struggle to pay the basics...healthcare, rent, etc. And most of them have jobs. That's so bizarre to me for such a wealthy nation.

The US soldiers were even worse off. After Korea they were sent into the hellholes in Vietnam and Cambodia, to complete 3 decades of near-continuous combat. And all, including the Korea War, to support a US government policy to fight the rise of communism, but ended making things in all those countries much worse.

- Korea divided, with North Korea turning into a hermit kingdom
- Vietnam becoming communist and still is today to a large part
- Cambodia seeing the rise of the Khmer Rouge who slaughtered millions of their own people

Overall, the US (+allies) never managed to win any of these wars and only created total chaos in those countries. Yet, a few decades later they thought new wars were needed and they must march into Iraq and Afghanistan which has turned now that region into complete chaos as well.

Question that comes up is: Will they ever learn?

Yes I agree with this, the vietnam war was especially bad, I don't know how they got away with using a draft so you had people in normal professions and walks of life taken away from this, and forced to become combatants in jungle warfare. And then cambodia was destabilised from US bombing which allowed pol pot to gain support. But if you look at cambodia and vietnam now, they make quite a large amount of products sold in our shops [clothes etc..] and are on friendly terms with the west. So to me the vietnam war was totally unnecessary and achieved nothing except mass murder. And like you said the US government [not the american people per se] have since blithely gone about starting new wars of mass killing.

you know, teach a man (or woman) to fish and they can eat for a life time, give them a fish and they can eat for a day. Its about being taken care of by Big Brother or Big Mother.

The % doesn't surprise me, but much of it stems from the crappy US immigration policy.

This just popped-up on my news feed. Mr. T showing yet again he has no clue. :what:

Giuliani on fox saying there was no collusion. Everyone looks for dirt on their opponent

Are you saying that immigrants are taking jobs meant for Americans?

I'm saying if the country is flooded with people from poorer countries you get a bunch of people that will struggle in America to earn enough to keep above water.

To me north korea is a direct vassal of china, they could pull the plug on kim overnight. NK acts as a buffer zone between china and south korea [with its large us military presence]. I'm not sure north korea/china are interested in the north koreans becoming very rich as trump states could happen. They want the status quo to remain with NK ruled by the kim dictatorship, but severe sanctions make this much harder to achieve, if china has to totally prop up korea with free aid every year because sanctions prohibit any trade it will cost them billions.

I think for the lasting benefit of the people especially the north koreans, the two koreas should reunify like germany, and at that point the US army should return home, however the problem for the chinese govt is then they will have a democracy right on their border.

I don’t get what immigration has to do with Americans not making enough to pay for basics even if they work.
And I’m not trying to say anything about immigration policy. I’m just trying to understand how immigration policy is at fault here.

Flood the country with low cost labor and it drives wages down or keeps them from increasing.

Flood the country with low cost labor and it drives wages down or keeps them from increasing.

its all there on the web, take the weekend and look in to it.

I think "flooding" is still very much exaggerated but it is commonly used by populists like Mr. T as the source of evil, which of course is not true or is at least leaving out other major reasons why wages are not rising or going down.

The latest data I found was for 2014 / 2015, should be still fairly accurate. Appr. 8 Million illegal immigrants were holding a job in the US, that is about 5% of the total US workforce of 160 million. I highly doubt that 5% of the workforce can be entirely responsible for the lack of raising wages or are driving them down. Plus, the largest part are employed in private households, textile manufacturing, construction and farming, which are all industries that native people avoid to seek employment.

You might have cities / regions where clusters of illegal immigrants have some influence on wages but overall I do not think it can be the entire driving factor for the whole of the US.

As for the lawful immigrants, they do not fair better or worse than the overall US population. The higher educated have rather a higher share. Millions of US people work in companies founded by immigrants, hence, I would say that evens out overall.

BTW, the same sentiment can be found in many Western countries including Germany or the UK, mainly because populists are driving their campaigns on it. So, the US is not alone there.

However, in all these Western countries, the utmost part of research studies show that overall a country benefits from immigration.

I don't have much time and don't want to rehash the immigration debate.

btw, I never mentioned illegal aliens, but the number of 11 million is old, its more like 20 million now.

But this happened in March 2018.

Quote: But this happened in March 2018.

I read from other sources that the numbers dipped strongly at the beginning of 2017 because of Mr. T's propaganda and are now rebounding to previous levels, comparable to the average of 2016 and 2015. The increase from Feb to March is always seasonal, yes, higher compared to last year but nothing out of the ordinary.

Rather prejudiced, aren't you? Shows as well that you have little knowledge of these countries. You do know that in the history of your country there was a time where you pillaged some of those countries without any remorse.

Do you really think that the rickshaw driver from Bangladesh or India will apply to immigrate into the US? I can tell you from my experience how it mostly works. Usually, the entire family, and with that I mean the wider family, puts money together to send one of the sons (unfortunately, rather rarely the girls) to college and university. They start the process of getting a work visa or student visa while they are still studying because talented students have a chance to receive a scholarship or the like. They mostly apply for multiple countries in the hope that they will be accepted by at least one. The son then moves to the country and sends a major chunk of his salary back home every month to support his family.

Once they are a naturalized citizen, which can take anything from a few years to decades, they apply for some family members to follow them (it is restricted to direct siblings, spouses, parents, kids). The decision on that mostly takes a decade as well, in most cases more.

In conclusion, you will have to a large degree, only the brightest and most talented ending up in the Western world, which is indeed in dire need of them since they mostly can't find enough talent in the native population. Which in itself, is due to the partially poor education of the native kids, or it is to expensive and some other reasons.

This graph is from your Census Bureau, doesn't look that dramatic to me to call it "flooding". Your population growth is on average 0.7% / year which is rather too low for a country to keep sustained growth for the next decades. Plus your natural growth is declining steadily because US citizen do not have enough kids.

Hence, your post doesn't hold water, it is rather in line with the hyperbolic propaganda Mr. T is trying to spread. But as I said, it is the same in other countries.

Harry-BKK,

Just read your above post and get the impression you appear to be a scholar on certain issues concerning the USA and its policies.

I don’t know what balcony you’re speaking from but could only assume it’s somewhere in the USA since you speak of personal experiences.

I agree that our schools are creating dumb natives. (in the USA) Just look at today’s generation. (in the USA)

Please link me to what you’re reading or where you’re studying that enables you to bring forward your comments as fact in your ridiculous post(s).

I noticed your graph on migration which was interesting. Can you post up a graph on illegal migration, or is there no way to confirm those facts? Trump was talking about making 2 million illegals to legal. (DACA) Can you post how many we don’t know about? Were the 2 million undocumented immigrants included in the graph you posted?

I was surprised you didn’t mention along with the USA pillaging certain countries in its past history of how our country also cherished slavery without any remorse also in the past. Slavery after all which took place centuries ago, is still one of the USA’s favorite blame for everything and anything.

If you don’t mind could you please expose for certain which country you’re from?

Trump was gonna make 20 million illegals to legal?(daca)

right now there are 800,000

I think this is how it breaks down.

11.3 million
The total number of undocumented immigrants living in the U.S.

3.6 million
The number of undocumented immigrants who entered the U.S. before their 18th birthday, the group known as DREAMers.

1.8 million
The number of undocumented immigrants who entered the U.S. before their 16th birthday. This is the group that met the basic requirements to apply for DACA.

800,000
The total number of DREAMers who have received DACA protections over the five years of the program.

I see "Steviedoo" posted already most answers.

I am certainly not a scholar, nor do I live in the US or was born in the US, I am merely interested in world politics. The reason why I know a little about the US is the fact that even the smallest "fart" of your presidents has the potential to send tremors around the globe.

My experience comes from traveling to many countries in the past 25 years which gives me some inside knowledge. If you search a little in this forum, you'll find out where I was born and where I live now.

The source for the data is your own Census Bureau -->
You do not have permission to view link Log in or register now.
, easy to find since a lot is publicly available. Surely, there are graphs and statistics regarding illegal immigration, Google is your friend.

Most countries have some "corpses in their basement", not just the US. I just found it rather strange that someone posts a list of countries degrading them as "not a hot bed of skilled workers" without knowing much about them or having spent significant time in those countries while just a short look at the history would exactly show why some of the countries are not up there with the Western world.

Your comment about your schools is rather offensive to the 1,000's of teachers who are trying their best every day. IMO, the reason for poor education has more to do with cutting education budgets and saving money at the wrong end. Your government spends some $700 Billion on the military and about the same for primary and secondary education which is the basis for a good education. The military has about 1.4 Million people, total for primary and secondary students is appr. 50 Million. You do the math. Sources are your government agencies.

USA cancelled the military drills with s korea after n Korea threatened to cancel summit.
Is any of this true?

As well, news outlets are reporting that it wasn’t only Russia that the trump camp met with, but also a middle eastern contingent that promised to help trump win the election..

Didn’t the trump camp say they did not meet with the Russians and no other foreign group?

"Erik Prince...arranged the meeting. The emissary, George Nader, told Donald Trump Jr. that the crown princes who led Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates were eager to help his father win election as president."

That is Erik Prince, Betty Devos’s brother.

And the plot thickens.

I would take any news relating to NK with a grain of salt at the moment. There will be a lot of posturing, demands, complaints, etc. from all sides until that meeting will actually happen, if it then happens at all.

Of course, nothing came out of the meeting with those people from the Middle East, just like with the Russians. Makes you wonder whether Mr. T Jr. only attends useless meetings as that would make him ....well, "useless". :D

Harry_BKK,

I feel it would be best for me not to further debate you on this forum. You appear to be so well informed being a globetrotter and all, I’m certain to be out of your personal, experienced, talented, league.

I’m just one of those partially poor educated native kids (adult now) that was unable to afford an education in the USA you referenced to.

I’ve been humbled by your personal politically motivated gibberish. We call that propaganda in the USA trying to put forward a personal belief or agenda that if you don’t conform to, you’re considered the enemy. Very similar to the libtard obvious propaganda being exposed in the USA.

I’ll close with reference you made to our presidents in the USA farting. I hope Trump don’t get the runs because he will be around till 2024.

Hahahahaha...trump being around till 2024. That’s funny. Speaking of media narratives that the whitehouse wants you to believe. This is one of them.

Don’t know how he will be re elected when he’s been indicted...oh wait he can’t be indicted.
Yes that’s the new narrative from Giuliani.
Can’t wait for this week’s new set of lies.

You know the liberals don’t have to do anything. They don’t do anything But the gop should Just keep sending Giuliani out into the newsworld.
It helps their cause. That and letting trump tweet.

Thanks for the sarcasm. :D

Speaking of poor education, I had my primary and secondary education in a communistic country. Science and maths were at an outstanding level but all the rest was pure propaganda. Especially history was heavily tweaked to suite the president's agenda and narrative. Funny was though that we had English from 2nd grade and French from 5th grade onward as foreign languages. I was the lucky first generation to have them, older generations had Russian as foreign language. But it was free for everyone. :D

Why would I consider somebody an enemy just because he/she is not agreeing to what I say? A proper political debate can get heated, fierce, sarcastic, you name it, but in now way does it lead to one part being seen as an enemy. Dialogue is what helped humanity to get to the level where we are today.

Quote: "Very similar to the libtard obvious propaganda being exposed in the USA." - And the conservative propaganda is soooo friendly, positive and innocent? Right!

PS. FYI, I voted conservative all my adult life!

I can see the love for liberals here again. This is what I mean how you right-wing people seem to hate liberals. And liberals just go after those in power.
"trying to put forward a personal belief or agenda that if you don’t conform to, you’re considered the enemy" Sounds pretty much what you're trying to do. You really seem to have a lot of hate for any kind of left-leaning people. It's sad really! But whatever.
Yeah it's pretty nasty propaganda when media reports what Trump says and does and how much he lies. It's not our fault if your idol is such a corrupt, lying scumbag.

Trump'll be 72 in June, are we to believe he's either going to be capable of running the country until he's nigh-on 78, given the obvious health implications from the daily stresses, not to mention he may not be elected for a second term!
