North Korea and US politics

It warrants some looking into, don't you think?
(Not your April 1 question...lol.)

WHY WOULD the Iranian people be grateful to POTUS?
It's so incredibly ridiculous it can only be fake.

Although with today's generation it's a toss up

Are you an Iranian oppressed by the Mullah regime? No?

I don't see the act of cheering on those that would eliminate your oppressors as ridiculous. But that's just me.[/QUOTE]

Who watched one of the many live streams of the NK prisoners return?
There were over 3k watching the live stream I tuned into at 2 in the morning.
The numbers were similar in other live streams, as well. Impressive numbers!

The whole thing was ... awesome. If one isn't careful, one might start associating those fuzzy/warm/gooey feels with POTUS! lol!
I dare someone to turn this into a cynical remark. JK. Please don't. I'm sick of the cynical sentimate.

Pompano did a great job, don't you think? I love that he is from Kansas. :)))))))))))))))))

Btw... I don't mind you all calling Trump my Champion, etc. Slinging that silliness at Lock like it's something to be ashamed of is weird logic. And by weird logic... I mean liberal logic. lolol.
I watch it. It was excellent.
Almost as good was watching the liberal news having to cover it as the lead story, especially the morning shows.

Sorry what 's Trump done for Iran that I missed again?

What has he done? HE didn't DO anything. I don't get why the focus is on Trump? The powers that be in Iran (Who happen to not give a rats ass about the people of Iran) negated any and all conditions as a result of their deception and outright defiance of the agreement from the start. What part of the concept of "this is your part of our agreement to uphold" & "this is ours." don't you get? The only thing Trump did was put a stop to America getting cucked by Iran.

Edited to add:

I mean, how bad dies it have to be that the Iranian people welcome sanctions (this is taken directly from the #ThankYouTrump tweets) with the hope that this will weaken the control of the regime and initiate the process of it's removal? Pretty powerful, if you ask me.

That's strange. I read it as Iran following the pact and still following the pact, despite Trump pulling out of it. But if you insist!

The really sobering part in all this is the pullback from China, France,Germany and the UK regarding Trump's decision to w/d from the deal. They don't want to follow Trumps lead because to do so would limit their trade on gas and oil. They are fully aware of the danger that Iran's continued pursuit of nuclear weapons poses. It seems, though, that getting oil and gas is more important to these countries than the safety of the world. Oh? That can't be right, could it? There is no way that some of the main players in the Paris Climate Accord (Yeah, Globalists!) could be so blatantly hypocritical? How very American-ish. tsk tsk tsk, you scoundrels!

Wow, your ignorance of facts is just amazing. None of the countries you listed have or had Iran as their principal supplier of oil and gas.

e.g. Germany: "in the nine months from January through October 2017, Germany sold 2.358 billion euros worth of goods ($2.846 billion) to Iran, and imported just $328 million worth of goods from Iran."

Germany imported in 2017 some EUR 950Billion, so the imports from Iran are totally negligible. Can't be that much oil and gas.

But yeah, carry on with your false conspiracy theories if it makes you happy. And this comes from you, whose country does anything for oil and gas, including organizing a coup d'etat to remove a country's government, disregarding human rights issues etc etc.

Well duh...that was the whole point of Iran deal. To stop them having nukes! Now there's no deal and they can get nukes if they like thanks to your smart president. I don't understand what you have against paris climate accords. It makes you do nothing.

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The head of the German-Iranian Chamber of Commerce said Germany sold 2.358 billion euros ($2.846 billion) worth of goods to Iran, and imported just $328 million worth of goods from Iran in nine months from January through October 2017.

Michael Tockuss, head of DIHK e.V., added that German exports to Iran grew by more than 27 percent year-on-year from 2015 to 2016, and remain on a steep upward curve, according to Deutsche Welle (DW) on Tuesday.

"Germany's trade surplus with Iran is massive," Tockuss said.

Your point being?

The total surplus in 2017 was some EUR250 Billion, hence while on a single country level the surplus with Iran looks large, it represents less than 1% of the total surplus. Iran could have more exports but you don't just start exporting goods after some 2 decades of sanctions. It takes time to rebuild trade.

Stay away! Couldn't they find a different location? Or does Mr. T want me to take him out for dinner to try Fish-head Curry, Char kway teow or Singapore Laksa? :D

Just imagine the extra security. There are 100 thousands crossing the JB/Singapore border every day and at peak times that means 2 - 3 hours queuing, now it will probably be double that.

Luckily, my son will have school holidays in June, so he will be with me in Malaysia and I will make sure we go somewhere far away from the border with Singapore while Mr. T is in the area.

But good that they meet, they can then both show off back home because in that respect they are absolutely equal. NK propaganda TV is not much different to Fox when it comes to their president.

It doesn't get closer to home does it Harry

The ultimate selfie opportunity for you if ever I saw it

I'm surprised he's even going to be fair. Many have been 'offed' by Kim in recent times, who'd have the balls to even shake his hand??

It's going to be surreal......

Iran is buying Germany's goods. How will sanctions effect that? The German economy?

Diplomatic and trade relations between Iran and European countries, Germany in particular, have improved greatly since the 2015 nuclear deal between Tehran and world powers, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), came into force in January 2016.

And they buy goods from the US too. And you have to put the value in perspective to the total amount of exports from Germany.

Germany exported last year some EUR 1,25 Trillion. Although the amount of trade with Iran increased significantly as the two countries have long-standing trade relations, 0.2% of all exports is still a marginal value that I doubt it will have any broader effect on the overall economy.

It's an interesting alternative on the truth but thankyou nonetheless

First of all, I didn't claim Iran as the principle of ANYTHING.
And ... you are wrong. My ignorance is not amazing. Pretty normal if you ask me

It's all good. You can call me whatever you want, Harry... but honestly? How intelligent is an individual that calls someone ignorant, posts inaccurate data, & provides no source? Your closing insult is ...EXACTLY... what I previously said. You must have missed that part. I said these countries are hypocritical. American-ish. THEY ARE.

NK Deal taking shape:

• "Getting rid of chem/bio" to mean dismantling whatever stockpile DPRK declares
• Dismantle ICBMs; keep nukes & intermediate-range missiles
• Partial USFK withdrawal
• Little or no inspections/monitoring/verification
• US + UNSC sanction relief

North Korea threatening to walk away from summit because of s Korea’s military drill. And not giving up nuclear weapons.

And European allies being threatened with sanctions by the u.s. if they continue with the Iran deal.

And trump making America great again by helping China save jobs.

Never a dull moment.

Mr. T some time ago: "Previous administrations have been played like a fiddle. It will not happen now because we have a different kind of leader." :D

And let the tweeting begin. Trump is not gonna be happy.

Oh, the comedy show is getting better by the day / by the tweet. :)

Look at this:

- US issues sanctions against Chinese company ZTE, basically driving them into closing the company
- China invests $500 Million in to a big Trump Organization project in Indonesia
- A few days later Mr. T tweets:

Capture 1267.webp

Yep, drain that swamp! :D

And speaking of fake news. I wanted to see how Fox News was reporting the North Korea threat. Checked their webpage. Not one article. Not one mention. All about the witch hunt and how gop is trying to shut it down.

Not to long ago it was mentioned how skewed cnn was towards reporting things...

It’s amazing and scary to read so many different views from so many different people.

The school system for a long time now no longer is teaching history and facts, but opinions and propaganda which is endlessly being exposed. They cut off all debates and make all types of claims with no evidence hiding behind alleged sources with rights to protection.

The dumbed down factor is so evident in this thread and a direct result of what the schools and the media did to this generation.

It’s hard to believe that people like Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Kimmel, Jimmy Fallon, Madonna, Whoopi Goldberg, Robert DeNiro, Joy Behar, Alec Baldwin, just to scratch the surface of entertainers whose opinions being expressed (either through joke or serious talk) have no more meaning then yours or mine, yet, promote their personal agenda without debate. Meanwhile, they live in gated homes with armed guards and servants and have enough money to be treated by the best doctors in the world. The real joke is how everyone beneath this elite privileged group (the rest of the world) listen, laugh, and respect their political views that could have detrimental meaning to us, NOT THEM.

The 24/7 news cycles are filling the time with more bullshit than fact. Because CNN or FOX say something don’t mean shit. Instead of everyone hearing the real unison news, you get to pick the channel and type of news you want to hear.

I know the present generation thinks they are the smartest thing that ever happened to this world, but I hope someday which I won’t get to see it’s proven how dumb they actually were.

Old Bobby DeNiro was a blow to hear, but for me Meryl Streep takes the cake with her pompous virtuosity in recent months

As for the North Korea summit, it seems things aren't looking so rosy in the garden after all....

Twenty years ago I use to really love some of de niro's films, haven't watched them all though, taxi driver and midnight run were two favourites. The celebs seem to be very 'selective' about the issues/events they want to talk about. Regarding Korea I can't believe after wwII, the UK sent its army out there to fight, soldiers that had just survived 5 years of war in europe only to then get their heads blown off in korea.

Bigger news today is trump disclosed papers that show he paid 100k+ to Cohen right after Cohen paid stormy.

Remains to be seen how this will be explained.

I’m sure it will all be explained away. Coincidence. This that and the other. And what about Clinton. Etc

I said this earlier in this thread "don't count your chickens early", when some Mr. T cheerleaders were already celebrating the denuclearisation of NK because Mr. T has done such a gooood job. Just like them, Mr. T, Pompeo et al were already lauding Kim, how honorable, honest, cooperative he has been and how "excellent" he's been with the three prisoners (right! , I am sure Warmbier's family totally agrees with that) and Mr. T should get the Noble peace prize, and maybe right on the spot so he could show it to Kim and brag about it and his "bigger, more powerful button" during their potential summit.

All I can say is that NK will NOT agree to a straight denuclearisation, no way. There will be lots more of what we heard in the last two days. Cancellations, postponements, bickering, complaints that they don't like this or that. Just go back in history and read how the last talks / agreements developed.

What doesn't help is that Mr. T, Bolton, Pompeo and even mad Giuliani run around and talk on all possible channels (Twitter, TV, Newspapers) on what they think and expect. I can tell you that the North Koreans are recording every single bit, translate if for Kim and then discuss their next steps. Especially, Bolton mentioning a Lybia model will have them on their guards. We all know how that ended for Gadaffi .

In short, within a few days Mr. T, the braggart-in-chief and his other braggarts have managed to put in jeopardy all the hard work Moon and his team of versed negotiators achieved in months of talks without much publicity (the right way to carry out these kind of negotiations). Just remember when the SK team went to the US to brief Mr. T on the talks and extend the invitation from Kim for a meeting. Mr. T didn't talk to his intelligence agencies first, no, he busted into the WH press room, where Sanders was holding the usual press briefing, to announce big news. He even told reporters: "Hopefully, you will give me credit."
Later he paraded the SK gentlemen in front of the press who confirmed the invitation and the instant acceptance by Mr. T, while continuously lauding Mr. T. You could see their discomfort all through their speech. These are well-versed negotiators who do not like too much publicity as they know it puts their talks in jeopardy.

Then he sends Pompeo on a clandestine trip to NK ony to spill the beans a few days later. Watch the video, the fun starts at 02:30. You can see how he is itching to say something. :D

Carry on to 04:14 to see what Abe actually thinks of Mr. T. The face says more than 1,000 words. :D

But, yeah, it's not the end of the day yet. Let's see how this develops. Fact is Kim would love to meet Mr. T as that put's him on equal footing with the mighty US, well, at least in his eyes. And Mr. T would love it just as much as he would have something to brag about for the next months on Twitter and during his rallies. :D

Sorry to go slightly off topic re Korea, but my feeling is the money russia spent on 'pro trump' social media content would be a fraction of that spent by other lobby groups/individuals, I think the democrats have to take some blame for putting forward hiliary and bernie, who were either too divisive or carrying too much baggage to win over enough of the mainstream vote regardless of any russian efforts to help trump.

A Four year term goes quick these days and in the last year nothing much gets done and the election process starts up again, who will the democrats pin their hopes on for 2020? I think trump will race again but who knows, I was surprised by this stormy daniels story which if true could lose him a lot of votes next time, but the democrats will still need a credible candidate.

The US soldiers were even worse off. After Korea they were sent into the hellholes in Vietnam and Cambodia, to complete 3 decades of near-continuous combat. And all, including the Korea War, to support a US government policy to fight the rise of communism, but ended making things in all those countries much worse.

- Korea divided, with North Korea turning into a hermit kingdom
- Vietnam becoming communist and still is today to a large part
- Cambodia seeing the rise of the Khmer Rouge who slaughtered millions of their own people

Overall, the US (+allies) never managed to win any of these wars and only created total chaos in those countries. Yet, a few decades later they thought new wars were needed and they must march into Iraq and Afghanistan which has turned now that region into complete chaos as well.

Question that comes up is: Will they ever learn?

Did you ever doubt that companies won't change to suddenly put their workers before shareholders?

I see the early reports of worker bonuses have dried up too. At least Mr. T stopped tweeting about the bonuses and stock market, now that it halted its rise abruptly. Last I read was that some 5 Million workers received a bonus or similar payment that was partially connected to the tax cut, makes me wonder what the other 150 Million got? Plus a bonus is a one-time payment, what would be more important to raise wages significantly higher than the usual raises that workers see on a regular basis. That would indeed tie it then directly to the recent tax cut.

Mnuchin grossly overstated as expected: " 90 percent of all working adults will see increases in their paychecks because of the cuts."

The first real assessment will come with the tax filings in 2019, plus how much the treasury will have to borrow additionally to cover the shortfall in taxes. Here's a statement from the CBO, which makes you shudder as to what will be then in 2019: "The newest projections by the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office found that the Republican tax plan led to, in part, a 2018 deficit $242 billion higher than previously estimated."

The US economy grew by 2.3% in Q1/2018, which is to be expected but far from Mr. T's promised 4%. The funny part is that albeit all those "great bonuses" for workers, consumer spending reduced in Q1/2018 by 1.1%. (source is US Commerce Department)

The growth might pick up in Q2 but on average it will be difficult to get past 3% for the entire year. It might hit it that mark in Q2 and/or Q4 due to seasonal effects but not in sustained growth. As i said months ago, I will take my hat off if Mr. T manages to get to the 4% or even just above 3% sustained growth. However, once it would hit that, you will see rising inflation, followed by higher interest rates....etc etc

Stimulating a struggling economy makes sense, but Mr. T poured gasoline on an already solid growing economy with very low unemployment, which usually results in what we see. Companies buy shares back and increase the profits for investors and company owners plus give a few bread crumbs to some workers.

I hope you are not referring to your fellow members as assholes. You may want to chill a little on the labeling of people. Also, you talk about the dumbing down of the people (US?). Being stupid is a choice. It's usually obtained by laziness and not reading enough. The news is a commodity in the States - unlike here in Europe. There are no 24 hour news services beating each other up over ratings. There aren't many celebrities here - and no one cares what they say. Because there isn't much to say - except what goes on in the States.

And 85% of the traffic here is other than the US. Just sayin.'

Oh yes Brian, he/she meant that all in this thread are apparently dumb indeed! And of course we are here only to blame Mr. T as his/her second post indicated

Apologize for passionately expressing my personal view.

And that person is a comedian, I mistook him for the never Trump'er Don Lemon from CNN. He's one of the never Trumper's from the daily show. To me their all the same. Sorry.

I had initially thought Blackhole was referring to the posters on here, then shook my head and thought 'surely not' and assumed he'd meant the media/ the Hollywood elite  I'd like to think it was the latter

Either that or I'm just too stupid to figure it out, and I deserve ridicule :eek::eek:
