Washington needs to be more creative and ensure that sanctions and North Korea’s isolation does not prevent it from receiving medical aid or hamper its ability to respond to that pandemic.

Agree, Pence has already issued an order that government scientists cannot talk to the press in any way until they have clearance from his office. So, yes, they are trying to control the message and that might very well be a cover-up.

I have no doubt the 'crisis' has been blown out of proportion, and that all sides/ both sides/ everyone is using project fear to score easy political points. So yeah, whilst not a hoax or April Fool's joke, the Dems are using it to bash him with, predictably.

Guess I need to remind you who is in charge. It's not the progressives. It's Trump. Trump can stop all the air travel if he wants to. But that would create quite a panic and businesses would be quite screwed and there goes Trump's re-election chances. So wonder why Trump isn't doing those things you suggested.

Tucker also suggested that US is more vulnerable to coronavirus 'cause of liberals' identity politics. Like how CDC spent 300k to study how an American Indian tribe in Washington State could improve health outcomes by eating traditional foods. Of course Tucker doesn't say anything about how Trump cut funding to CDC.

Modern society, that is the simple reason, the same as in Germany, the UK and other developed nations. To keep a population somewhat steady you would need 2 kids/woman, better a little higher to count for early deaths. Current levels are close to 1 kid/woman + we are growing older before going on our final journey. Hence, less at the bottom that would work and drive the economy and more at the top who rely on social services etc.

The US economy is consumer-driven (IIRC, more than 70% of their GDP is internal, Germany is about 50%) plus totally dependant on Wall Street, so you need to present growing numbers every year. The only way to increase consumer spending is to have more consumers. Since the US citizens do not have sufficient kids to grow the population, they need immigration to make up the numbers.

Most countries are growing their population, even Sweden and Denmark. The conundrum is to find the right balance.

Guess I need to remind you who is in charge. It's not the progressives. It's Trump. Trump can stop all the air travel if he wants to. But that would create quite a panic and businesses would be quite screwed and there goes Trump's re-election chances. So wonder why Trump isn't doing those things you suggested.

Tucker also suggested that US is more vulnerable to coronavirus 'cause of liberals' identity politics. Like how CDC spent 300k to study how an American Indian tribe in Washington State could improve health outcomes by eating traditional foods. Of course Tucker doesn't say anything about how Trump cut funding to CDC.
It's sort of funny how Pence held a speech telling how this coronavirus thingie shouldn't be politicized...and then that's the only thing the right-wing+Tucker+Trumps+Fox is doing.
