NetEnt have sacked their CEO due to the poor performance of the company. The CFO has currently taken over the role: Outdated URL (Invalid)

Oh yeah! Netent Slots are reviewed at Casinomeister - to include their associated casinos! Woo woo!
They need to sack their creative team as well for their truly awful recent releases. When I say recent, more like the past 2 years....

Well, they lost all their good people to:

QuickSpin
Thunderkick
Just For The Win
Genesis
Yggdrasil
etc...

And i agree - their games used to be my go-to games...
As a player, I feel that the abomination that was Twin Spin Deluxe, the awful looking Phantom of the Opera game, and the maths profiles on (nearly) all their games that are dreadful are just some of the reasons they are dropping like a stone.

NetEnt's share price has almost halved (79 > 41) in the last 12 months.

I'm flying to Sweden as we speak....

Have they gone further downhill since 2014? I remember me and dunover were routinely giving them a kicking over 'NetEnt variance' even back then.

That said they were still knocking out some decent slots at the time, the original Twin Spin I had something of a soft spot for.

Yes, they release 10 slots every 6 months on average of which 9 will be utter shite. They vary the theme occasionally with games such as Jungle Spirit but usually they are 'samey' using the old 400x bet max win math model in various incarnations combined with juvenile characters. When I spoke to them in London back in 2017 they told me that they watch my review videos in the boardroom on a big screen and laugh at some of my words - I have this image of them waiting with bated breath and then (Delmonte-stye) "Senor Dazza, he say YESSS!!!! but he did bring up the Netent Variance' term and utterly refuted it.

They need to start using existing proven ideas that work such as multi-way exciting games like Bonanza or Rhino and Novomatic's expanding scatters like Book Of Ra. I'm afraid that being as they already have market saturation (almost every online casino offers their slots) then they really need to up their game in development in order to maintain player usage. I also discovered at LAC this year that despite very few games, some casinos are seeing 20-25% of turnover just on those few Big Time Gaming slots which goes to show quality over quantity is desired, plus more exciting higher-volatility math models.

April fools day isn't until Sunday buddy!

The people at QuickSpin are great... since the sale to PlayTech i've not been as impressed with some of their content, but you can't please everyone all of the time.
But i won't hear a word said against the people - always been very friendly to me when i worked with them :)

Fair enough.

I guess I have sort of a mini agenda when it comes to their slots (not their people) in general.

Their really poor math's models and weak pay tables have always made me think "How can they churn this out when other providers give a much better chance?" So kind of a dog with a bone situation where I cannot let it go, maybe one day....

I have since been told their slots work a lot different to most other providers in that they have 'runs' or 'streaks' a bit like the AWP's of yesteryear. (once referred to by gaming commission as "predictable enhanced periods of enrichment"

Going back to Netent, the slots where the potential is huge are and always will be IMO the winners, examples such as (pre HTML5) CFTBL, JATB, DoA etc. Obviously it was working for them as a company back then AND retaining players and casino contracts, begs one of my fave questions, "Why fix something which is not broken?"

Yes - your quote on the netent variance still resonates today and a few of us reffered to it months after you went;)

NetEnt's share price has almost halved (79 > 41) in the last 12 months.

As mentioned, their games began slipping from mid to low variance with the big wins limited to 400x.

What amazes me is this incorrect assumption that players are happy with low general wins - Trancemonkey, correct me if I am wrong but I remember reading a line you said a month ago saying something along the lines of “most players are more than happy with 100x wins”.

The self-evident popularity of the BTG games is at odds with this widely held industry view, and now we have the massive decline of Netent which can be mainly traced back to this lack of understanding of what players actually want.

OK, here's some damning evidence of player interest in Netent - despite the upload date (21 March) my Extra Chilli review has been published publicly just for 32 hours, the Netent Hotline one for 48 hours:

Says it all.

In human terms playing a BTG slot is like having a meal in a posh hotel restaurant with a fashion model then retiring to your room for a night of great sex - playing a Netent is like swilling cheap lager at t' Legion, getting jumped on by the fat bird in the corner with a pits problem then having fish and chips on the way back to her council flat where you're praying she'll then fall asleep before the recording of Britain's Got Talent has finished so you can sneak off.

Netent had it right once with the balance of their games. They looked good, played well, and had win potential for high and low rollers alike.....

They were my favourite at one time. DOA is/was the greatest slot of all time and they definitely had their golden years during the CFTBL/ South Park era I feel. Jungle Spirit was a fluke and a swansong of sorts.

The last couple of years have been dire. It's to be expected when all your creative talent jumps ship, same thing happens in the video games industry.

Not helped by their shoddy handling of licences and removal of their older games, a terrible idea.

A new CEO can make all the difference- here's hoping they turn their fortunes around and don't just run it into the ground. Despite everything, it would be a shame to see Netent go. It'd be like Sega all over again :(

If by great sex you mean 2 minutes then I agree because thats how long deposits last when playing BTG

NetEnt won't go - but they need a new direction, and maybe they've been shackled by the CEO in terms of game design. Time will tell.
They must see the data showing them vs others in terms of game performance, and they haven't changed yet - so either a) they don't know HOW to fix it or b) they don't think there is a problem.
Since the CEO has gone, it can't be (b) - so if it's (a) then that's a much hardly problem to fix.

They should give me a job - i'd be able to fix it within 12 months (and that's only because of the time it takes to make a game!) as changes don't happen fast ;)

Playing BTG is akin to dining said posh model, being lured to her room for the promise of amazing bedroom shenanigans only to be jumped by her accomplice, mugged, beaten up and left in a pool of your own piss

to be fair

Wow - that's big news, and what a shame. A couple of years ago they were on top of their game, and there has been a turnover of personnel in the past year - to include some of the folks who were creating their games.

Here was my encounter with their development team in 2015: Meister Mail ~ 25 November 2015 - EIG, BAC, MiGS Report

Lest we forget, Netent was a favorite during a poll we had last July:
Your Input Please - What is your Favorite Online Gaming Software? Pick three!

We should conduct another poll and see what comes about.

Better your own piss than somebody else's.

Netent are 'Katie Price' slots - all appearance and no substance.

After reading that the first thing I thought is why they haven't contacted me yet to discuss becoming Net Ent's new CEO.
Checked my phone again, still no call from Sweden. Strange.
