My online slots videos (plus UK AWPs)

Oh before that, I used to play Chuckie Egg on the BBC Micro. Green tinted screens. Those were the days!

HULKAMANIA at Sky Vegas

Just a cheeky short session here, since I'm off work today I figured I'd have a bit of extra weekend slotting on Sunday evening.

Words cannot express how incredibly naff the HULKAMANIA slot is, to the extent that it's almost good.

Almost.

Thanks ChopleyIOM

I have just started watching your video. Will we see Lucky Angler next time? :D

Chopley would you consider to try out gonzos quest? That game has some really big wins.

I've played it quite a lot free money and it didn't click with me I have to say, IMO NetEnt don't really get high variance slots and aren't very good at producing them.

I still say Bruce Lee is the international standard of how to do a high variance slot properly.

Would you care to elaborate?

It's a completely no-nonsense affair and it doesn't mess you around, at the end of the day high variance slots are about one thing only, the big hit.

Anything that drags out the gameplay in an unnecessary fashion annoys me, Dead or Alive does it with that interminable sticky wilds free spins round, Reel Steal (and BDBA) do it with the overly protracted free spins round, constantly dropping in extra scatters for extra spins that pay zero. (Reel Steal is a lot better than DoA however.)

Hitman is another culprit, with that absolutely rubbish Hitman icon bonus round, and the overly long 18 free spins round (although that can pay big), when the big hit is all about the assassination bonus round.

Bruce Lee doesn't do any of that rubbish, it's fast, it's compact, it's simple - it has a couple of five free spins bonus rounds that are over quickly if they're rubbish but can still drop a big win in, and when (if!) you hit the twenty free spins round you absolutely KNOW that it's payday.

Compare and contrast with Thunderfist that has some massive wins on the paytable, but by christ that slot is dull to play, truly dreadful.

Just my opinion of course :D

I agree with that. Wicked Winnings don't even have free spins or a bonus round. All it has is a respin feature when the stacked wilds fall on reel 2,3 or 4. The reason why it's so popular is because it's a real "go big or go broke" slot and has tons of different symbol combinations that can pay big, so you don't even have to aim for the jackpot.

Something entirely new for the channel this week! (Well, new to me at least.)

I hate playing the kind of slots where I can't see where the money is, with "capped" bonus rounds, free spins @ x1 and low paying line wins. Also not a fan of softwares filled with clones of the same slots.

All those slots seem to have an arcade video games vibe where you pay to play but can't really win (other than hitting a progressive). Don't like the "collect for bonus" thing either, especially since all the wins in the bonuses are capped.

Judging from that video, Boss Media looks like poor man's Rival.

Definitely not my cup of tea.

Thanks for sharing.

Excellent vid Chopley. I've tried (and failed) many times to get to the end on Space Tale. Nice to see how it ends up (basically you get an extra pick for every level you pass - two extra for destroying the Space Station).
Worst Tumbletons tune ever (I really like that slot) , 1 apple was generous!

Great video production and commentary as always! I should have stopped watching it when you played that 15 line slot and showed the paylines. That was the most screwed up thing I've seen in my slot history. I would fully expect some odd looking paylines on a 50 liner but that was ridiculous for 15 liner. Overall enjoyed the video but it was painful to continue watching as those slots slowly bleed you dry without what appears ever a chance to win over 100x the stake. I would have opted for the roulette suicide much, much sooner than you did. You braved it out for as long as you could it seemed until you finally got fed up with the slots on that software. Thankfully, I don't think we'll be seeing a boss media video anytime soon on your channel again. Look forward to the next production.

The comments for the video on YouTube and at the other forums I frequent all say pretty much the same thing, insofar as some of the slots look like pretty good fun with a selection of novel and interesting features, but none of them bloody well pay anything. Not one single person has said they fancy giving the slots a go for themselves. (Compare and contrast with NetEnt/Redbet, where I know for a fact a few folks have gone on to play there themselves having seen the videos.)

Do Boss Media actually do any high variance slots? I couldn't find anything that would even qualify as medium variance, let alone high.

In fact, every slot I paid had a kind of ultra-low variance Bloodsuckers vibe to it. (But with the added horror of having to collect a shitload of points to trigger the features.)

It really sucks the fun out when you know you're pretty much never going to get past 50x stake, and 100x stake is a monumentally rare occurrence.

Unless the model is intended to be the local progressives are the only big prizes and the base games simply don't kick them out at all.

Assuming that the casino is reading this, we might as well tell them exactly what's wrong with the software. Visually, the games looked like regular slots, but they felt (on video at least) more like something you'd see in an arcade or a fair (like a slot machine version of a claw machine). Lots of bells and whistles, but it was "hit the progressive or go home" and they are literally ALL LIKE THAT.

Sometimes I feel like software providers don't know who to hire to make slots and they hire video games programmers. A real slot player would never make slots like that.

So here we go (my opinion, for what's worth)

- Progressives, "true skills", and pick-em bonuses should be the exception, not the norm.
- Keep traditional paylines (regular players like to know if they win when the symbols drop on the lines, and we are used to some sort of standard when it comes to line patterns).
- You need decent paytables and bonus rounds that feel random instead of "compensated".
- Players don't need very small wins with 2 symbols on a line, they want to feel like they can win enough to withdraw.
- Avoid the straight up clones, players can easily spot them and it doesn't look professional.
- The collect for bonus thing is cute on one slot, but not for most of them because it looks like a cheap way to force the player to stick to the same slot and rebuy if he runs out of money.

Sorry to hear that Chopley ...your videos will be missed, but whatever 'real life' stuff caused you to come to that decission, is more important.

The YouTube channel is no more I'm afraid, there is the potential for some 'real life' crossover that I'd rather not risk.

Sorry about that!

Anything to do with Microgaming?

I liked your video's Choppers, then you changed your software, you couldn't see how long the vid was or fast forward etc. Bad move:thumbsup:
