Does anyone have any good Mother's Day stories?

Cool presents, neat things, exotic trips, etc....

I grew up without mother, (probably why I'm messed up ;) )so I cannot partake in what I did for my mother, but I can talk about what my children do for me.

My fav presents are of course the handmade ones. They are soooooo cute. How can you not smile at a childs drawing. I have a cookie jar made by my oldest daughter and a little bowl made by my youngest daughter.

I don't have any stories of going on trips or out somewhere, but I am hoping other people will.

Grrrr, I'm a pack rat LOL. I recently took the time to put together scrapbooks for my kids. Inside I had every report card, their first lock of hair, every Mother's day card they had every given me when they were in school and lots of pics (both camera and drawn). It was fun to go back in time and the kids loved them. I know this isn't exactly what you were looking for, but thought I'd share just the same.

And what a great idea for this thread (happy thoughts instead of the discontent threads of late).

Yes, that was my thoughts. Your last sentence.

You have EVERY report card and every Mother's Day card? OMG, how big was this box? Or do you have a storage shed...lol.

I have found a few report cards/drawn pictures/regular pics of course...but not all. I agree it's very fun to look at, especially when you can remember how you felt when a certain time was taking place.

Not a box but a filing cabinet LOL. I started saving things my grandsons had done for me when they were born, so I had to clean out to make room for the next generation LOL. I drive my daughter crazy asking for things of the boys.

I also kept every letter my father wrote to me after I turned 18, I take them out and read them every now and again. He passed away 15 years ago and I miss him alot. As I said, I'm a pack rat:D

Well, it was a special mother's day for me when my husband, my daughter and my parents went out to dinner for mother's day. My Mom was terminally ill then and didn't go out very much at all.

There was another great one getting drunk on a patio with my best friend while we were child free for the day! Sunshine and Long Island Iced Teas, surrounded by beautiful flowers just a few minutes out of town.

The NDP (leftwing political party) always have a big Mother's Day picnic with live music and free foods and games, and my daughter usually attended it with her BFF when she was small, so I usually had the afternoon to myself.

Now that I am a grandma, my DD's inlaws think they are the only family that matters, so I'll still be solo.

My 5 kids are so young, but every year, the 2 that go to school make me a poem, or a card at school. Right now things are financially tough for us, so I wont be getting any store bought gifts, which is fine by me. All I really want is a break and a nap! :D Maybe my husband will take them all to the park and give me a few minutes to breathe LOL

The cards and poems my kids make me are so precious, I frame them and hang them on the wall. Last year I got handprints and poems, this year my daughter in first grade said shes making me something but its TOP SECRET..shes dying to tell me :p

Im just so blessed to be the mother of 5 beautiful children, thats a gift in itself...
