I hear you. It's pretty much the same with Canadians. In Europe though there's quite a different attitude, generally speaking people are expected to carry their papers all the time and produce them on request. People show their national identity papers -- kind of a combo of social security number and birth certificate -- at the grocery store when they write cheques!
Anyway the point is that the casinos do what they need to do to verify identity. Often -- not always -- if you're bashful about sharing your BC or whatever the casino will take alternate forms of documentation.
