Looks like iSoftbet have purchased the megaways from BTG as well...Who’s next?

Big Time Gaming licenses MegaWays mechanic to iSoftBet
Created: 16 April 2019
Sydney-based slot specialist Big Time Gaming has signed an agreement to share its patented and trademarked MegaWays mechanic with supplier iSoftBet.

The deal allows iSoftBet to use the MegaWays mechanic, a random reel modifier system that sees any given spin produce a different number of symbols across the reel, in its future slot releases.

iSoftBet becomes the latest games provider to license the mechanic, joining the likes of Blueprint Gaming and Red Tiger.

“MegaWays has proved to be one of the most innovative game innovations in the history of online slots, and we are thrilled to be sharing our patented and trademarked mechanic with iSoftBet,” said Big Time Gaming CEO Nik Robinson.

Old / Expired Link“iSoftBet has emerged as a formidable game developer and has built a substantial portfolio of original and branded slots. We believe that MegaWays is in very good hands with the iSoftBet team, and we look forward to seeing what they come up with.”

iSoftBet chief commercial officer Michael Probert added: “iSoftBet has been creating some really exciting slot content recently in over 15 regulated markets, including Italy, Spain, Portugal and Sweden and we are always looking for ways to expand and improve our offering.

“We are very excited to get our hands on the MegaWays format and we have Game Producers itching to create something a little bit different so watch this space.”

Bit late to the party - Blueprint have single-handedly destroyed Megaways. :)
The moment players say "Oh no, not another megaways game" you know you've pushed it as far as it's going to go....

I agree, but I think they're still making a lot from them though, even the new releases. For a provider like iSoftBet that havent made a good game in ages, getting megaways and combining with the standard features we see in 5x3 games could help them a lot I believe. You could basically have an AI at this point make every single successful game redone but with a megaways reelset and you'd probably make bank for another 12 months or so.

I dunno, 3888 Ways of the Dragon was a decent game by iSoftBet. It will be interesting to see how volatile they'll make their Meagreways versions. I hope they don't destroy it like SG/WMS with that utterly dreadful Battleshits game.

Got to dissagree with you on that one.

Yes to many providers are now offering megaways and many of them are not that great slots. But the blueprint ones took megaways to a different level and personally i find them superior slots to the BTG ones.

They are more fun and are proven to pay large wins on a regular basis unlike the original megaways slots.

It's true in part - check out the 'mystery' symbols during the FS. On Blueprints you can predict the card value they will reveal, which will always be the one NOT in view anywhere on the grid, or if all are in view it will be the one with least in view. Every now and again it won't be a card value but will link up multiple 6OAK picture symbols for a big win of 500x plus. That's the lottery spin. If players here regularly use Blueprint Meagreways games how can they fail to have noticed this? Same old, same old....

Yep I find the 'mystery symbol' boringly predictable. Exactly the same on the Red TIger game, which lets face it....is just another Bonanza Clone. In fact they cloned a clone! Ha

Don't misunderstand me - i'm not saying the BP games are rubbish. Quite the opposite - they made better Megaways games than BTG. However, the are clubbing the megaways animal to death at the moment. I just wonder how much life it has left in it... maybe loads. Who knows :)

For Q1 / 2019, roughly 25% of all casino slots play was on Megaways slots. We have currently 27 released (including Ecuador from Elk and Tiger & Dragon from Red Rake, which are not running on the Megaways engine) and another 1/2 dozen or so on the way. Considering that there are 3,500+ slot available online, the share for Megaways slots looks huge and thus should have room for a few more, especially if they come with some good features.

But you are right, the game engine is getting beaten ad absurdum and that leads obviously to the question when will it peak??

Well, according to some friends in casinos, new megaways slots don't add to revenue... there is a piece of the pie that people are putting through Megaways games and this is not growing, so more Megaways games are just cannibalising other megaways games... Hopefully, some people will come up with new exciting ways to do Megaways. Let's see :)

I agree there's a bit overkill. However, BP makes awesome stuff. But I do not think to license Megaways to third-tier slot providers is the way to go.

Yeah, won't that just dilute it even further? Like, if Megaways is already being done to death and players are talking about how there's too many games using the engine, how will letting developers that arent exactly known for pushing boundaries use it help? You reckon they would sell the engine to me if I gave them 20 quid and a cheese sandwich?

You can't have too many Megaways. As a player I am all for choices.
Do you realize most people don't have that many (if any) choices in casinos and providers?

I’m inclined to agree. Pre the Bonanza revolution it’s not like we all said ‘oh great another 20/30/40 line game’.... and that’s all it is. Just that it has a Megaways moniker.

Black Death was one of the most popular talking points in 14th Century Europe - you can bet people didn't want more of it :p

But was it compenrigged? Like, was there a pool of black death, and every time i pressed a button, a little man would use an abacus to figure out if i could have a share of the black death?

No, but it had a RTP of 30% for most :(
