The killer was a relatively wealthy denturist working in a smaller town, seemingly "good guy" known to make dentures for free to cancer survivors who couldn't afford them. On pictures he looked every bit as your typical dentist in his early 50's. Friendly, helpful neighboor, etc.

Needs to be confirmed but from what I read what he did is not pretty. He was impersonating a police officer, stopped random cars and gunned down occupants...then he set random houses on fire, shot people inside and outside their home...yikes.

It seems unusual to me that a person with such empathy would be capable of doing such a planned thing?
