MALTA HQ

Dion is silly. We have snowmobiles now.

PEI and New Brunswick have beaches, low cost of living and business incentives. They are home to a few call centres, so you will be able to find qualified support staff, as unemployment is also high. Of you get homesick Connor, you will find no shortage of places to enjoy Irish music, and maritime music with its strong Irish roots.

I love St Paddy's. Tis a wonderful thing we all get one day to be Irish.

I have three YouTube playlists. Two of them are Irish. The other is Christmas.

Honestly, I make Irish soda bread frequently if I am out of bread.

The
I make the brown one. If you are not UK or Ireland, oatmeal means more like Oat flour. Just pulverize some rolled oats in a blender or food processor ntil they look like brown flour.

I do mine on a sheet pan, and have never used buttermilk, just soured milk.

My friend and I have just booked a long weekend in Malta from 30/3 - 4/2 Any recommendations from those that live there on what to do in our couple of days? :D

Definitely visit the following places if you have time -

Rabat / Mdina - If you like GoT and want to see the original King's Landing Entrance of Season 1
The various Neolithic Temples around the island / The Half Saflieni Hypogeum if you have chance but you need to book ASAP through Heritage Malta
Our Capital City Valletta of course :D - The Town built by the knights of St John. (Deffo the co-cathedral there)
Gozo & Comino - Our sister islands, Gozo -Citadella (a walled city) / Comino for a view of the only barely touched island of the Maltese Archipelago.

And well if you're a casino lover (shocker!), you might want to spend your pocket money at Portomaso Casino :)

While I don't live in Malta, I've been tourist a couple of times.

Drink Cisk. Have a Kinnie. It is an orange pop that is nothing like Fanta. People either love it or hate it. Have rabbit, it is the national dish, and make sure to get a gelato.

Grab a snack from a Pastizzi. Anything is good in puff pastry or filo, but ricotta cheese and a mushy pea one are traditional.

Have dinner or lunch seaside at least once. Angelo's in Buggiba is reasonably priced, and a lot of the boat tours leave from right near there.

Definitely take a cruise. Depending how hearty you are, you may or may not want to swim, but the Blue Lagoon is the nicest water I have ever been in, and will be warmer than most beaches.

The co-catheral is awesome. If you like history, there are some war museums. Malta was pivotal during WWII, and the Dome at Mosta might be worth a Visit.

Bus service is good, and a cheap way to see a bunch of the island. Taxis are expensive.

Pizza is good, go to a one with a traditional oven, not a chain.

Tirileg lived there for a while a few years ago, she'd be a good one to ask.

If by any chance you are staying in San Pawl, drop by Jester's Pub and tell them Linda from Canada sent you. pm me if you are, I'm on Facebook with some of the staff.

I'm assuming you booked a package, so have your accommodation sorted. Hope you didn't buy full board.

I'm only a little jealous. Honestly. Probably won't be your last.

Oh, and if any casino wants to sponsor a trip to Malta, you can have my deposits while it runs. I'm sure I could swing transatlantic fare by summer.

When was your last time here Jasmine? It’s too early in the year to swim :eek2:

Also Pastizzi is actually a thing you buy from Pastizzerias :p They’re good if you’re planning to explain to your doctor why your Cholesterol levels spiked.

Regarding buses, well, let’s just say they can be better.

If you need any hints or suggestions while in Malta, just send me a PM and I’ll send you my number so you can WhatsApp me if you have any issues

June 2017. Stayed for three weeks. That was my second visit, first was 10 days back in 2011 or 2012. As for swimming, keep in mind CC07 is from Scotland. In my teens and 20s I was into Lake Ontario to swim by the time it got up to 12 or so, and in up to my thighs just as soon as the ice was clear from the shore. After my first visit to the Caribbean, I became spoiled, and don't even enjoy much at 20 anymore. I'll go in if the day is warm enough, but not for long at a stretch.
