Spammer! Let's Help stop the spam together - like this:

This seems very odd. Lucky247 spam even more of a problem than CR, yet Lucky247 appear to have an aggressive enforcement policy against the affiliates doing it. Something doesn't seem right here. Surely more aggressive enforcement should see less offending. 32Red are rarely the source of spam complaints, and they appear to take the issue very seriously, which is probably WHY they don't have a problem with spammy affiliates. Whatever 32Red are doing obviously works, so if Lucky247 did the same, they too could kill off almost all of the spam.

I am still seeing Lucky247 spam caught in the filters, along with the usual CR stuff, and the usual from the other less reputable sites that don't give a **** in any case.

If Lucky247 are closing offending affiliate accounts, the problem must lie elsewhere, such as it being too easy for banned spammers to simply replace their closed affiliate account by opening another. This opens the way for a business model for spammers of opening multiple "disposable" affiliate accounts, and going for broke in the first month or two in order to get as much traffic as they can before complaints lead to their accounts being shut down. This would not really work in a revenue share situation, but is ideal for CPA deals.

Well the respective reps have given me an e-mail addy to forward the offending spam to. It seems they are playing bedknobs and broomsticks with them though.

Something is definitely not right here. They may be making a show of dealing with their affiliates but how does that explain the mail I received from the casino itself. Sorry but in my mind they are no better than the affiliates they are supposedly trying to stop. The casino is buying information as well and the mail I have is proof. I would like to see them explain that one!

Oh and of course daily CR (6 or 7 a day). Cant even be bothered to post these because CR couldnt give a rat's ass, they never have and never will. Even my mum who has never gambled and doesn't really give her email address out anywhere gets casino spam and it's all CR.

Daily emails are the same old crap. "You have won x amount", "only a few hours left to claim", "your ip address has been selected", "winning announcement".

Sadly they know exactly what they are doing (misleading newbies to make a quick buck), but are always allowed to get away with it.

Hi all and thanks for the posts.

We have already identified one of the SPAM accounts and have closed it immediately.

I would appreciate the help of those whom I have PMed to get to the other offending accounts, please.

I could go on about how it can't possibly be in our best interest to send out an email saying "here's a welcome back gift available to new players" - that doesn't even make any sense...

I truly am sorry for the inconvenience caused and will continue to action account closures systematically.

Thanks,

Sacha

Closing the accounts isn't working. There is a gaping hole elsewhere in your affiliate policing systems. Lucky247 spam is getting WORSE, even though you are aggressively closing accounts. You know you have a SERIOUS problem when people rate Lucky247 as more spammy than Casino Rewards.

Many other casinos, despite appearing to be less active at shutting down affiliates who spam, have less of a problem than Lucky247, so it seems the current policy of closing affiliate accounts linked to spam reports is not really working.

Update to lucky 247 spam texts

Hi I used the link listed at the end of my text to unsubscribe on Sat after I got that text. I haven't been getting anymore texts so far, Thank God. I was getting them every other day 2 texts each time. . Also I only got one email from them since Sat (for today's offer) so that seems to have slowed down too. The rep has been in contact regarding the spam so if I get anymore in the future I will let him know and will update the thread.

Cheers

Hi Zebedy,

Thanks a lot for reporting this.

It is unfortunately exactly as you say. These guys come in under false pretenses, and then start spamming.

We have had similar issues with other guys, whose accounts we have closed.

While we value affiliates' anonymity and I might get flak for this, the matter of not sharing information should only apply to valid and trustworthy businesses.

So for the other casino operators reading this, the account was opened under the name: Ralph Miyoas.

Not sure how much this can/will achieve, but if we make it impossible for these guys to open affiliate accounts, maybe we can curb this trend.

If you represent a trusted casino and want further info regarding this account, I'll share - tired of these guys making us look bad!

Thanks,

Sacha

Surely the anti money laundering regulations require you to verify the true identity of all affiliates before you can send them any money, just as is the case with players. This should make it fairly easy to stop banned affiliates from sneaking back in under the radar by opening a new account. It would only work if the banned affiliate were able to use different verifiable identities, so should be as hard as it is for players who try to get away with multiple accounts.

If affiliates are able to repeatedly circumvent your systems as they are clearly doing now, then your systems are also vulnerable to player fraud and money laundering schemes.

The sheer scale of this problem across a number of casinos suggests that "affiliate fraud" is endemic, and virtually impossible to effectively control with current measures. It does seem however, that some casino groups are SIGNIFICANTLY more adept than others at tackling this problem. This may mean that the more vulnerable programs are targeted selectively, making an already serious problem even worse.

Given that lucky247 are closing affiliate accounts almost as soon as they are reported, it seems odd that there is much money to be made from spamming. Surely, by the time payment falls due, the spammer has been reported, busted, and booted.

Surprised that google, facebook and searches on places like 192 for "Ralph Miyoas" brings up nothing.

Surely if it was a real name, there would be at least a few names popping up on these searches. I guarantee if everyone on this forum googled their name, results will come up. I think I remember reading somewhere that for nearly every person in the world, theres at least 5 others with the same first and last name.

I'm purely speculating but while this rogue affil may of used that name to make affil accounts at other casinos, it's funny that no searches for him brings up any result.

I reckon he/she knew their spamming intentions so either came up with some random name or added 1 or 2 letters to their real name so on both occasions, the name can not be found. So if caught out, the game won't be totally up.

While I admit, I am speculating but it's likely. It's already clear that these rogue spammers are not small time college student's who want to make £20 a week to buy some weed at the weekend.

The extent some of the spammers have gone to just shows this is a big operation (A few spammers mentioned in this thread for example have registered 300+ domain names, often used premium dns shield services which hides the details of the person who registered each domain and the nature of quite a few emails show the sender has made a huge effort to convince the recipient that the email is off someone who works high up in the casino and has personally authorised it).

The extent makes you wonder if the people behind this are part of criminal organisations who are putting their rogue affil payments towards funding offline illegal activity's.

If a player is up to no good, the casino will investigate, terminate accounts and even report them to the authorities. However most casino's just don't seem to give a stuff about rogue affil's.

It really doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that if someone has gone to this amount of effort, there's a high chance they are part of a crime ring.

Sadly the only way most casinos will give a stuff about this is if a new independent company opened up who investigated casino spam that was reported to them and had the power to fine casino's who simply sat back and did nothing.

Yes, you're right, before affiliates get paid, just as with players.

The problem we're having is more with affiliates misrepresenting themselves at the beginning than anything else.

I don't think the problem is much worse for us than it is for others, we've simply been one of the few to act on it so people are posting our mailers here as they know we'll do something about it.

So, what checks are done to weed out affiliates who might be misrepresenting themselves at the start. Given that searches for "Ralph Miyoas" turned up nothing, how come this didn't raise a red flag right from the start.

I can't see how this Ralph Miyoas could gain from spamming as surely he would never see any affiliate payments since he has used a false name, and thus can't back it up with ID documents.

In order to make money, he has to be an expert on how the affiliate systems work, and how to bypass any checks in order to get the payments.

Given that the spammers are clever enough to represent themselves as a high ranking manager at the casino, the fall out for the casino could be even greater as regulation improves throughout the world. In the UK, Trading Standards may view this as the responsibility of the casino, and the usual excuse of "sorry, wasn't us, it's from a rogue affiliate" may no longer be enough when a player gets shafted and complains. The full force of the new UK regulations come in next year, so there isn't much time for the industry to "clean house" in order to avoid a run in with UK regulators.

I haven't been getting as much spam from Lucky247 as I was at the beginning, but occasionally when I do I just send it to Sacha who takes care of it.

I've lately received a TON of Major Tom spam - Both Lucky247 and Major Tom have the 50 free spin thing, so it seems like these scummy affiliates focus mostly on new casinos that have a freebie offer thinking that they'll be more likely to get signups that way.

For any of you who are getting spammed from Club World group, make sure you're also letting Martyn know. https://www.casinomeister.com/forums/members/

Oh and weird, does anyone remember Prime casino? I thought they were gone, but I've gotten like 10 spams from their affiliates in the last couple of days. PLUS a mailer today!

BLACK DIAMOND IS GETTING OUT OF CONTROL

Black Diamond or possible affiliate...they know who I am, so I am guessing it's directly them.

STOP spamming me with offers that I cannot take !!!! Like $25 free chip that can only be used 1 time and I used it months ago.
today 300 % sign up bonus.....I'm already a customer ( for the moment) and play.

they are coming from
The Black Diamond C Team <[email protected]>

cut the crap or get your affiliate to cut the crap or close my account.

thank you :)

This one is really starting to get on my f**king nerves, is there anyway to stop this, like email Betfred and ask them to have a word with the affiliate in question?

I'm receiving this upwards of 8 times a day, it gets sent that often I have 3 or 4 of them coming into my email box 2 mins apart.

Betfred.webp

There's no unsubscribe link or anything. Aaargh!

Right click on the link in the picture and 'copy shortcut'.
This will copy the url which includes the affiliate code.
PM the offending url to the rep and if he's got any scruples he'll boot the affy into touch. Game over.
I've had this done a few times and my spam is reduced, except for the vile Casino Rewards affies because CR don't give a toss about this illegal behaviour.

P.S. As you've blacked this out it must have your name - in which case it may be a direct e-mail.....??

Cheers will give it a try, I don't know why he/she sends so many per day, like the 100,001st spam email is anymore likely to get me to sign up than the 1st was. When I already have a (dormant) account there as well!

EDIT: Yes it did have my name on, still surely I shouldn't be receiving this 8+ times per day? The e-mail it came from is [email protected]

Renee from Casino Rewards contacted me regarding the amount of spam (get about 40 emails a week from them). I forwarded all the emails to her for several days. She contacted me yesterday to tell me that I should not be getting any more spam. I will wait several weeks before I consider it to be successful. Kudos for Renee for approaching me and helping me with this. As I said time will tell if it worked.:)

Just got a reply, he's going to have a word with the affiliate in question. Apparently whoever sent it has purposely cut out the 'unsubscribe' option that should be at the bottom of the email.

Cheers Dunover!

For such a blatant breach of the law, "having a word" is not enough. This was no accident, the affiliate went to the trouble of cutting out the unsubscribe, they were intentionally sending spam. If he is sorry, he is sorry he got caught, not sorry he spammed.

Boot and ban him, and send a message to all affiliates that if they are doing something similar, they had better clean up their act before they get caught.

For UK players, they can make formal complaints to the ASA over this as it breaches the advertising standards. It also breaches trading laws and the data protection act. The regulators will go after the company, not their individual marketing partners. The company will be expected to show that it is doing the best it can to prevent such problems.

On a wider note, this causes an even bigger problem, it "breaks email" as an effective means of communication because the arms race between spammers and email providers has reached a point where legitimate emails get blocked, and entire email servers get blacklisted, leading to ALL legitimate mail, as well as spam, getting blocked. This can have serious business and personal repercussions, and can cause bitter disputes between parties.

There is now an increasingly hard line being taken against spammers as this problem threatens to damage e-commerce. This is fully supported by ordinary users, even though businesses seem to feel that it's not such a big deal, and that "having a word" or "retraining" is enough to deal with it.

Was just looking through my email, and thought he seems to have stopped, possibly due to being spoken too.

Then I spotted an email entitled 'Congratulations $2500 Available For you!'.

He or she is now sending me a different one! A payday loan advert thing (called Cashmojo), same person as it's from the same email address ([email protected]).

However this time there seem's to be an unsubscribe link, which I'm guessing will be pointless using.

That could be even worse (for him). Payday loans are now coming under fire from the government regulators for doing just this (aggressive lending). It'll be the Payday loan company that will be in trouble for this. Looks like this IS a career spammer, and despite "a word" having been had, he has no intention of changing his behaviour, nor even removing your email address from his suckers list. Because you complained, he knows your email address is active, and that you at least read the spam. It's possible that he will sell it on to other spammers, as it is now worth more because he can show that it is active, and that spam sent to it gets read.

The main problem is that it is very hard to track down who is behind the spam, and bring charges. It seems he is used to having affiliate accounts shut down, and has a reservoir of fresh crap to promote via spam. Until he gets busted, he gets paid for every lead his spam generates.

I believe there is work going on to make it easier to track the true origins of these cloaked emails, and even those behind the fake marketing companies quoting fake company addresses that are often used on the mailers to make them look legit.

The businesses who happily turn a blind eye to all of this only have themselves to blame when they find that customers are increasingly reluctant to hand over their contact details, even when they claim this is "essential in order to provide the service". There is even a regulation governing this, under data handling laws, companies are not allowed to make false claims that data is "essential in order to provide....." when it isn't. They may ask for extra data, but they cannot make it's supply compulsory in order for the customer to get the service. Many companies try to get all this extra "voluntary" data because they can then package it up and sell it on, making extra money on top of what they are directly charging customers. Spammers are one of the many customers who buy such data packages, whether obtained legitimately or not.

These affiliate programs and casinos, give NO-Spam lip service in their T&C, that's about it. Besides, it's not about who is sending the spam, it's about who is making the dollars from it. In this case BetFred. Hence having a word to the rogue affiliates, seems OK for the BetFred affiliate program

Dear Zebedy,

Thank you for your post, we have taken immediate action and closed the affiliate account.

Quasargaming.com takes spam very seriously.

I do apologize for the inconvenience caused.

Regards,
Rebecca.

Just received 6 of these all at the same time to several of my email addresses

Senders emails are,
[email protected]
[email protected]

But all 6 emails came with a different name.

Aff Code is
xxxxxxxhttps://www.quasargaming.com/?btag=654439_A21BFA0EC54B43168E6A2164EDE2F6AE

Wouldn't it be more effective to keep an updated list of known spammer IP addresses, which everyone could then block? Or if you have control over your mail server, just have the IPs checked against Project Honeypot before being delivered to your mailbox. That alone will cut out 99% of it.
