Spammer! Let's Help stop the spam together - like this:

doubt this will help - I've blocked these guys daily for a couple months now, and still spammed daily - they must have unlimited and constantly changed emails, but anyway:

Winward, RCH, Thebes, Vics8, Sarah Jones, CMoons, BHall and Slots Village. Can we just post the email addys? I really don't want to open the mass amount of them and click the links for landing pages lol

Hi Dionysus,

You actually have a point here - the way a lot of these mass email systems are built is that they re-target addresses where the email was opened/the link was clicked on, which makes it even more painful.

Please all, let's stick to the instructions posted earlier, to avoid making it worse for ourselves - if you do click on anything, it should be on the unsubscribe link (if there is one!!). Getting the redirect links should not involve you clicking on anything, ever! - please forward mails to me directly on sacha@toplayaffiliates.com if need be.

Am checking up on the link sent above as need further info, but will sort it out and keep you guys posted, promise!

Let's keep this up!

Sacha

Hi all,

Thank you so much for this!

This is the same affiliate that has been identified in the previous post and whose account has been closed.

There is clearly some automation on his part whereby mails are still going out but I have mailed him and told him to stop all communication involving Lucky247.

I get about 3 mails in my inbox daily from "Sarah Jones" as well, as one of the many spammers, offering other casinos, so it's clearly someone having a big go at this.

I assure you all this account is closed and communication from this Sarah should definitely stop very soon - at least the affiliate can't make a cent out of it.

Thanks,

Sacha

If this is a big spammer, it will take more than the closure of a single affiliate account to have any effect. What is needed is an approach similar to how the industry unites against player "scam/fraud rings", so not only would this affiliate lose this one account, but they would start to find others being investigated more thoroughly and shut down, eventually finding that they cannot open any new ones.

The affiliate programs MUST know the true identity of those behind the affiliate accounts as it is a requirement under the anti money laundering provisions. Given how tight these are for individual players, they should be just as tight when it comes to these big affiliates who could be in a position to launder huge quantities of money and evade the business taxes they are due to pay on this marketing activity.

It would be worth looking into the legality of a "name and shame" of the worst offenders so that recipients could, if they wish, file their own complaints about the spam to their own national authorities. This could act as a strong deterrent as spammers are only comfortable when they can hide behind a wall of anonymity.

Currently, it is the business being promoted that ends up in the firing line, as they are the shield behind which the spammers hide.

After some back and forth trying to get some info to Sacha there was another aff account shut down yesterday. Nice to know someone's serious about their no-spam policy.

Yes, 'Sarah Jones' seems to be taking a long vacation at the moment as does Mr. Smith. Have had little CR spam in last few days. Kudos to the reps for acting, those that have anyway!

I'm pretty sure there is a black market in e-mail addies and they are traded between spammers. I haven't had Mr. Green spam for ages and it's like 'Bedknobs and Broomsticks' - you kill one spamulous bastard off, and two pop up in their place....

There's a list that goes up for sale every so often I think, Ray hasn't played online for a couple of years but every 3-4 months or so he gets a new wave of casino spam.

I get quite irritated about it and people say "What's the big deal - just delete it" but the idea that these jerks are making money off unsuspecting chumps who don't just delete the mails really pisses me off. Some of these affiliates don't even have a website, they just sign up with some bulk email place and flood everyone with their garbage - and worse, they send outdated promos or freebies that players don't qualify for - but the players don't find out they don't qualify until AFTER they've signed up, and by that time it's too late and they're already tagged to that affiliate.

But anyhow...(stepping off my soapbox, sorry  ) it's good when casino management realizes how damaging it is to their brand and keeps their affiliates in check.

This is where the main brand damage occurs. The player will blame the casino for "bait & switch" as usually it is only after they have deposited that the player finds out the offer isn't valid. As well as acting on spam, casinos should accept that it is NOT in the best interests of their brand to blame the PLAYER for claiming and pursuing an offer they have received from a spammy affiliate, but instead accept that the player genuinely clicked through from an email advertising said offer. Spammers do not make their emails "look like spam", the intent is to give the recipient the impression that they have genuinely received that "personal invite" from the casino manager as stated in the email.

As the industry becomes more mainstream, the regular rules of the land will start to apply to any emails sent, regardless of whether the casino sent it themselves, or employed a third party marketing agent (affiliate) to advertise on their behalf. The "wild west" rules of the internet will no longer offer protection for businesses from the consequences of out of control affiliates.

The UKs ASA have already upheld complaints about the advertising churned out by online casinos, and their powers now include advertising on websites, and via direct email. Operators that act now will have less to worry about in the future as the UK authorities start policing the industry more robustly in 2015 and beyond, even if most of this effort will be directed at getting all the taxes in.

I spoke too soon, more Casino Rewards shite -

Another disguised address - the spam is Casino Classic, the unsubscribe doesn't work and the e-mail purports to be from 'support@crewardsbonus.com;

I just threw out 4 from Casino Rewards - I don't think they do anything about spam do they? Do they have a rep here?
Yes, Sacha who has actually taken an interest and seems to have curtailed 'Sarah Jones'. After CR 888.com affs are the worst spammers, but 888 are not accredited and probably couldn't give a toss. The last few links of CR spam She said she couldn't stop for a reason I can't remember. The last one I posted above will probably be the same.

Ive collected +60 spam mails since a week back now. I just get more & more lately it seems...

That's fine - just remove the 'http' only, so Sacha or other reps can add it later to check it out. CR are without doubt the worst offenders and until it stops I'll never contemplate playing at any of their sites.

E-mails are definitely being leaked by casino networks:

This is new one, never heard of this lot funny how they got my e-mail....

Hi Dunover,

CR is not me....Lucky247's my brand - not much I can do about others! :)

Thanks,

Unfortunately Sacha has nothing to with CR and CR will not give 2 hoots about spam as they do it constantly themselves, so you have a 00.1% chance that you will ever get it to stop.
