The bank holiday was just Monday. Yesterday was a normal working day for eCOGRA. Today is a normal working day. Nothing has happened. The pages are all there. The casino spokesman said he was "having them removed" there and then fully 24 hours ago. Nothing has changed.

First of all, what they've done is not good at all for their rankings.
But the worst thing is that they've totally forgotten that those stories could be read by humans.

That means that if only one of the member of this forum fills a spamreport, their website could be blacklisted very fast which means totaly disapear from Google.

The BMW case was different. It was the German site and they put up hidden redirect pages - ie: it detected a search engine "bot" and gave it different, arguably more relevant stuff to read while users were redirected to the homepage.

I was the NetBooster's salesman who signed the original BMW contract in France and after that we made a "more work" with the german filliale.
As Simmo explained it, the BMW case was a bit different.
It was "sneaky redirections" (as Google calls them) implemented on BMW's website, not very clever, but nothing such as this insane work.
Maybe it's not the SEO fault, sometimes the clients have very strange requests.

All those articles say nothing, but contain phrases like "...play slot machines for free", "...casino slot machines", "...slot machines", "...online slots" and variations thereof. All those particular "slot" phrases are links, taking you to other pointless pages, saying the same thing - nothing.

Why the links? They go nowhere meaningful, just to more crappy articles.

Presumably because links are more attractive to the serps than plain text, so anyone searching "slots" has a better chance of hitting that AllSluts page.

That really is a kindergarten attempt at serp manipulation. Even I could do a better job. Although the grotesque "All Sluts Saved My Life" article is gone, it remains a hugely tacky, cheap marketing campaign. Not exactly something that "better" casinos should be seen to be indulging in.

Sometimes I get really upset about the littlest things. If the house is untidy I will go nuts. Other times though, nothing bothers me. It is a little weird and very frustrating. More crucially, it is very upsetting to my husband and our dog. I have just revisited this thread, and I find the examples even more bizzare!
Even when they are removed, there needs to be a full admission of what these articles are (rather than our own theories).

Although JP Factory have been generally good, it seems they are far too keen to use the "it was a third party contractor" excuse. My cash-outs often have problems, and it takes some serious prodding to get something done. The explanation is invariably that the processor is a third party over which the casino have little control. Indeed, the processor even ignores urgent requests from casino CS, and it has taken direct intervention from the top to make Inexia take note of an issue and correct it.
This is a similar, but far far worse case. The sheer quantity of these duff articles, and their content, goes beyond my own theory that these were churned out by players hoping to win the bonus for the best (read outrageous), tale that were collected together.
Given that we have now had two normal working days, and despite the fact that this was such a damaging issue that I would expect technical staff to be called out during the holiday, the articles are still available, and each minute they are, the damage only gets worse.
All we need now is for Senator Goodlatte or entourage to "google something" and accidentally spot one of these to have a killer case for passing the prohibition bill. The fact that an eCogra sealholder is implicated strengthens the Goodlatte argument even more, in that the self regulation currently operating in lieu of formal regulation is not working as it should.

This will probably be the most interesting thread of the year!

We need to be assured that not only are we promised this will not happen again, but that robust procedures are in place to make it impossible for a eCogra sealholder to get away with such lax internal controls that any possibility of a repeat, even by a contractor, will be prevented from the outset. I would like to know how long these "articles" have been in existence, and what purpose they were intended to serve, which, sadly for them, has not been the purpose they have ended up serving.

This is a very good question, what exactly will the voluntary bodies do about this, both Kawanake and even eCogra have been accused of always seeing the casino's side in a favourable light. I expect Kawanake to handle this in the same manner it handled the Golden Palace incident, an internal investigation followed by business as usual.
eCogra is a different matter! This comes while they are campaining for responsible gaming, and the sheer abdication of responsibility in allowing this to happen needs to have a visible consequence. Whateve they do, eCogra will have to justify it, and to allow the casino to go relatively unpunished (other than the stern "slap on the wrist"), will validate the "it was a contractor, not us - we can't be held responsible", excuse.

This scandal is in it's early days, and it's out in the public domain now, there is no going back! Nothing short of an official investigation by eCogra (finding published openly of course), will go towards remedying the damage to the industry. Google may take a stand also, and this could harm the industry as a whole as they may simply blacklist all casino type terminology from ranking in the top few of the results.

I meant "stupid" in the sense that someone with the authority to change their website thought this was OK, and someone in charge of them thought it OK to employ them!

These articles are targeting people vulnerable to compulsive and problem gambling. The unbelievable and disgraceful thing is that they want these people searching on the internet with these search terms to find their casinos. It's probably worth mentioning that the 32Red magazine article incident about how to beat roulette was much more widely read (circulation of around half a million) and much more believable and liable to create problem gamblers. They didn't do anything about it when they could have easily notified the players who joined after reading it and played roulette- they didn't want to lose the profits.

Allright I am in no way taking the casino's side on this one. But this is a pretty smart move business wise. The smart move business wise isnt always the best way to go about things and tears may be shed in the process. With an exception of maybe 2 or 3 casinos, how many casinos put the players before the money?? Look at the King Neptunes situation, great casino could have did the nice thing and pay it. Specifically targeting and exploiting compulsive gamblers and claiming that slots helps arthritis is VERY GRIMY. I would love to quit work and gamble all day every day, but doing so would (a) leave me broke, and (b) probably GIVE me arthritis.

If you can get past the initial shock of the situation, I must say that I found most (NOT ALL) of these quotes and paragraphs to be rather hilarious.

Unhilarity

Well, in a way they ARE hilarious! However, they cross the line when they are designed to appear when people "google" for help for problems that are directly at odds with responsible gaming. I am sure they could have created these hilarious tales so that they appeared whenever a potential player was searching for information about gambling or related activities. They would have been well adjusted enough to have a good laugh, and naturally the article would have stuck in their memory and they would recall the name of the casino and assosiate it with humour. Sadly, this has misfired in a big way, and worst of all, they got caught red handed by more educated net-savvy players.
I visited the site and it looks like all that happened was the site was given a quick "BMW" to quote an earlier poster. All the links now simply reload the home page, and look like bad web design, however, clearly the articles are still there for the search bots to pick up on.
Dirt is not "gone" by sweeping it under the rug, the only way is to get rid of it is with the trash (or refuse/rubbish, for us Brits).
eCogra will have a full(ish) mailbox this morning, we will have to see what they make of this.

This is ridiculous. I thought some of it was funny at first, but all of their sites contain literally endless pages filled with outright lies, meaningless stories about unrelated topics injected with gambling terms, and psychological ploys specifically aimed at problem and compulsive gamblers.

I was going to deposit at All Jackpots tomorrow because their 400% signup bonus is enticing, but now that I see what they spend their money on, I am not going to do so.

Tactics like this seem similar to those which earned 888.com rogue status.

Thinking about Nat and 3 card poker

I used to play 3 card poker with Nat the whole time. We would always make sure we had time for 3 card poker, no matter what was going on in our lives, especially after retirement when we generally had more time and more friends were available to join us for 3 card poker. Playing 3 card poker sort of became "our thing" and so when Nat died, I sort of stopped playing 3 card poker. Anyway, there were so many things I missed about Nat, that I hardly really thought about 3 card poker. At least, I hardly thought about 3 card poker until the first anniversary of his death came up. Then I thought about 3 card poker all day and cried a lot; I missed him so much.

I use 3 card poker for something positive

Well, I had spent most of the day crying and I wanted to stop. I decided instead that I must do something positive, rather than focusing on the negative. It was time to raise a glass to Nat's memory - that would have been what he wanted me to do anyway. So I got out a bottle of champagne I had been saving for some time, poured myself a glass, raised it to Nat and went off to join some friends for a game of 3 card poker.
