Sodax I was trying to help and see whatever got you locked out.. I do not want and have no use for this "link" to thier secure area.
Don't read between the lines and think "I don't like you" as a matter of fact I think the reverse is true.. or CM would not have deleted a comment to me by you. Good luck.

Well CM.. I personally think someone with this huge of an issue should not be allowed to knock down rep points off every person at the forum who does not say .."gee your right" after all this forum is players helping players and everyone is entitled to thier opinions.. the Rep points are not to be abused. Espeically if you are asking for facts!

Thanks for theese screenies, however your screenshots only confirms what IntetBet were saying, that you got the link into their admin area - however had no username/password so you could not access any information.

However, given you have their login page, you could use a dictionary, and in worst case scenario a brute force attach on the login page - given that they havnt installed a x login max try, IP logging and such. In most cases, a serious system like this I would expect having theese measures in place.

Have you got a screenshot of an accuall page behind the login page? That woulod be a breach! A major security issue, unless there was a "admin" "password" account, like the default router password,

Those screenshots show that the hyperlink did indeed point to WITHIN the admin area, and not just to the login page. However, they also show that the security sensed that the link was from an unauthorised source and disabled access.

Accually it's much more simple than that, Most webaplications (as thie admin interface) needs some sort of state to remember the user, this is in most places solved with sessions. Short expernation. Each time you boot your browser, it generates a unique id. When accessing a webpage, this ID is also passed to the webserver. When logging in to a webpage, the username and password are usually stored in a session file on the webserver - which is linked with the ID for your browser. Each time you browse the webpage, the session file is loaded, reading username and password, infact logging you in all the time, and you get the feeling you are already logged in since you do not need to log in all the time (in reality, you log inn all the time, but username and password are read from the session file).

When clicking the InetBet link, there is noe session file on the server with correct username and password, meaning the system cannot log you in, so we throw an error - and forward you to the main login page.

If this was a hyperlink that was coded to bypass the login it would have a form similar to "https:\\<IP>\<hash>\<page>?user=???????, password=?????,<possibly other parameters>.

This however, if true (I didnt see the original URL) is a completely different story! Many web-interfaces allow for login on a page with supplying the username and password directly in the URL given you know the parameters. If this were the case, it's _highly_ likely that Sodax infact did access the admin interface, InetBet noticed after he informed them - and changed or removed the account (for the admin interface) in mention. Hence - he cannot login again, and security has been "reinstated"...

We should not be harsh on InetBet for not responding earlier, as this all started with this player tagging this older issue onto this current thread related to something else - initially giving the impression of the standard "attention seeking thread hijack", and it took a while to work out what the issue was all about.

I cleared up my quick to judge post rather quickly, and I do feel like this thread has been hijacked.
