Immortal Romance - Where on Earth is Michael?

I have accounts with many different casinos, and my favourite game is far and away Immortal Romance.
I dunno how many spins I've played (probably into hundreds of thousands) at bets right up to £6 per spin but I have NEVER hit 5 Michael at any casino, with wild OR standard.
I have actually had 5 scatter (once) which I thought would be harder to get than 5 Michael, but apparently not. I've seen huge Wild Desire hits with 5 Michael, but has anyone had 5 without wild in the base game? Just seems impossible to get and it's doing my head in. I've even had 5 Sarah, 3 of those with a wild above/below for huge wins, Michael can't get anywhere near that in the base game, so why is it so hard?

Each time I open an account at a new casino, I almost always make a bee line for Immortal Romance and gradually, over time, the paytable fills up aside from 5 Michael, 5 Scatter (barring that one rare time at Betsafe) and 4 + 5 Wild. In most casinos I haven't even had 4 Michael, see this Betsafe screen shot as a perfect example:

I think they fixed it recently. However depends what you call fixed...it usually would expand to reels 3 & 5. I've seen it expand to reels 1 and 2 now as well, but only at times when it would have been a five of a kind and a big hit if it would expand to the 5th reel.

tbf, I did actually get a Wild Vine feature the other day where I got a Troy on reels 2, 3, 4 and 5. The wild Vine filled up all symbols on reels 1 and 2 for a pretty epic win.

I'd still trade that win for 5 Michael though, just to see it once...

The point here is, if they really were "random", then it wouldn't be the same for all of us (incredibly difficult to get 5 Michael).
It seems that Michael has been coded into the game to be intentionally very rare, but there appears to be no real reasoning for it. He's not the top paying symbol, he doesn't unlock any kind of special bonus game or anything like that. Makes no sense.

My guess (and that's all it is) is that they run a the maths program to set the symbols/reel strips for an RTP of 96% and the reel strips it chucked out simply dropped a Michael or two to compensate somewhere along the line. Or put another way, it wasn't a conscious "human" decision or done for any specific reason.

Thanks for this! I actually doubt Troy is more unlikely to hit then Sarah. But what I do believe is tha Amber might just accur more often, then symbols that pay less.

IR was only released 1 year 3 months ago, and TSII 2 years 10 months ago = 4 years 1 month max...

When I had my IR phase, played only at Betway.
Based on my comps I can say that I played some 10k spins.

Only hit them boys once, but fittingly in Michael FS, I had four of them on 2,3,4 and 5
with wilds on 4 and 5 and wild fell on first reel, all that on max multiplier

But yes, never had them without a wild. Funny that.

Thanks. Have always been interested in the math behind the slots - I've had a pretty poor "career" so far - good thing I dont do this for a living!

I started recording spins a few years ago after experiencing some strange (winning) streaks - I've been looking mainly at Playtech and MG. Playtech slots are fun, but MG slots are more "fair" IMO.

If you install firebug and use the Flash version in Firefox, you can see your total spincount (but not how much you've bet total). If you estimate your average bet, you can guesstimate your total wager......or you could just ask 32Red

Michael is definately the hardest to get, I got them at 32RED, but it took a few months and tenthousands of spins.
Also got 5 wilds, but with no Sarah in view, paid just under 200x bet.
Only missing 5 scatters.. and I did hit them, but it was during the Amber free spins so it did not count for the paytable.
But the 1000x bet payout was pretty cool anyway.

same problem in my most played IRs (32red, Ladbrokes Riverbelle,) only missing wins are 4x wild, 5x wild, 5x scatter and 5x Micheal.
You only get the achievement if you hit the win without a wild, so the fact there is only one Micheal on reel 2 makes it come in way less frequently than the others.

Hey guys, if you read this thread attentively, you would have been able to figure out that to unlock combo's in the paytable, you have to:

A: Hit the combination without wild
B: hit the combination in regular spins

Not well thought out but in the end it was just a way to get more players involved. I would be interested in seeing if I do end up with any of the bonuses won and what I really get. I think I got at least the lowest one done so guess that is a whole 5 cents based on a 5 coins bonus.

Its not silly - just not executed well IMO. they haven't taken the spin count into the calculation. getting the pay-table gold on IR is no small feat - not worth the 1000 chaser. That said, achievements can be back-tracked and unique to the casino ID so no need to launch with the slot necessarily...

that said i better check our calculations, as if we're wrong, it'll be an expeeeensive test

Caught this the other day and it reminded me of this thread. This is the first time I have ever hit 5 michaels without using the wild IR symbol. Shame that it doesn't pay more given how rare it appears to be....
