How profitable is it being an affiliate

Just wondering for the affiliates on here how profitable it is for them.

I am an affiliate of sorts for some companies, but I don't have a stream and I target a specific audience rather than just anyone.

For those on here who are, is it a replacement income or merely an additional revenue stream.. and are you an affiliate for a number of companies or just a select few.

Those that have been streaming for years (like the bandit) would have built a good base and would have a reliable income out of it. I've seen quite a few new streamers come out recently who are pumping out their links.

TIA

You're too late.
I started in 2006 - and even that was a bit too late.
Unless you're a tech genius with very deep pockets, you can't compete in the modern market.

It has been my full-time job since 2008, i.e. my only source of income.
I did INCREDIBLY well for someone with no computer knowledge working completely on my own... and I was VERY lucky.

Streamers probably have no life - just multiple hours in front of a screen every single day...
Nah - not for me!

Good luck!

My target isn't slots, its sports and like I said its a target audience so its different to online casino's. The company I am an affiliate for is fairly generous. I know what your saying though about being late.. however the opportunities that exist today did not exist 5-10 years ago.

The competition is very high, and there is a significant chance that you will spend much money without getting anything in return((

Easy money if you can find a niche. When I was active in 2012 I focussed on EDM and niches, like providers and e.g. "gamble and pay by phone". But thats 13 years ago in the Dutch market. Easier to compete. If you launch an English language site now you need a lot of patience and SEO skills.

If you bust your ass, have a good tech background — or access thereto — and you’re happy to check your morals at the office door when you start your work day you _might_ have half a chance. Fall short on any of those and you’re toast. Needless to say that wasn’t the case years ago when most of the old guys here come on board, but everything changes and so has this, multiple times.

For example, the resources required today to make Casinomeister viable would stagger you. People like Kasino King and others managed it for years — we did too — but these days the game has gone orbital in terms of the skills and manpower required. I get nauseous just thinking where we’d be if we hadn’t become part of a MUCH larger and richer organisation.

That said I’m pretty sure that "the opportunities that exist today did not exist 5-10 years ago” means you’ve decided you know better, in which case best of luck to you. Feel free to drop by in 12-18 months to let us know how many piles of cash you have to crawl over to get to your computer whenever it is you start your work day.

Some good points by @L&L-Jan .

Research and find a micro-micro niche, inside certain GEO. Go deep, not wide to cover in-details topic/subtopics. Fill the gaps inside that niche. Reach high Site Focus Score, but low Site Radius score.

Good luck!

Competition is tough, but if you have good content, you can gain traction quickly if you stay away from Search Engines like Google. The future is here with Social channels. You'll need to research, but TikTok, Telegram, Discord and Reddit have massive user bases you can tap into if you know what you are doing.

if you put in a lot of work and time it might return steady profits later on.

as mentioned already you can get real lucky if you find a niche and your stream/website pops off and you have a good income.

i advise against it since i think that the casino industry is on a turning point

I've known a few people who try from scratch. No audience, they stream, play with fake money casinos give them and even use a small bankroll to tip viewers small amounts on Kick. They waste months for almost nothing in return. I think you really need to spend on marketing first OR be a girl. No offence.

Echo pretty much what @KasinoKing says. The landscape has changed significantly since the early 2000's when I entered the industry. I have seen affiliates come and go, the majority of the successful affiliates have sold their sites.

To compete now, you have to have a LOT of connections in the industry, focus on a niche part of the industry which you are an expert in, a sprinkle of luck and potentially deep deep pockets.

I wouldn’t bother, the industry is dying on its arse in the UK. Gimped rtp, Casinos and Providers tightening the screw by the week. 2 or 3 years, it’ll be knackered. As a player, it’s not viable and with changes brought in by the government, conline gambling will be about as popular as a FOBT in the high street.

I would like to see the numbers on this. Myself and all my friends and family members have all quit slotting in the past year or two because of all the rtp being lowered and the returns just being horrific. No entertainment value anymore either. Its just all straight to zero.

I think its dying everywhere. Go look at winner screenshot threads for 6-7 years ago. Would hit 300 posts most months. Now it doesnt even reach a 100 usually.

Well the restrictions in the UK have battered UK-facing affs like myself. Deposit limits, less attractive bonuses, KYC etc. has let may players to quit, legacy players have lower spending limits plus restrictions on advertising and placing links.

As KasinoKing and neilw have already stated, the golden age has long since gone, KK says he was late to the party and I was even later but still had a fantastic run for 5 or 6 years. Now it's managed decline with the odd decent month as opposed to propserity with the odd poor month.

Since then you have had consolidation too with smaller sites being bought up and as mentioned upscaling is necessary for the complete skillset you need, SEO, link placing, rules, ad buying, learning other markets and all the other facets that together will be beyond the reach of most sole traders.

I wouldn't really become a single affiliate nowadays as the bar has been raised considerably. I was fortunate enough to come in at the tail end while there was still money to be had and luckily realised via attending conferences and communicating with others on here where the land lay so saved the proceeds. I am really glad I did looking at the state of affairs today!

It's great to see this discussion about affiliate marketing. From my experience, being an affiliate can be quite profitable, but it depends on your approach. Targeting a specific audience, like you mentioned, can lead to better engagement and conversions. For me, it has been more of an additional revenue stream rather than a full replacement income.
I also focus on a select few companies that align with my audience's interests. This way, I can provide more value and build trust. I've found that resources like ***snip are incredibly helpful for affiliates. They offer insights into various gambling site options, which can help you choose the right partners to promote. Their information has guided me in making informed decisions and optimizing my affiliate strategy.
