How do you keep track of your online entertainment/casino spending?

I want to turn a new leaf for 2010, and track every cent, if possible, which I spend in online casinos - does anyone here have a preferred software, preferably free? Sorta kinda like Pokertracker?

I think some players have mentioned that they keep track the hard way - entering each and every wager, but is there a better way? Particularly interested in a software that could also track all these fees we pay. :)

I personally created a couple of spreadsheets using Ms Office and OpenOffice (OpenOffice is free). In them I keep track of things like balances in my ewallets/e-accounts, who I deposited with and what were the results, as well as logs for individual sessions. I don't track every wager by hand, but I do track my comp points before and after a session and my bet size and what balances I started with and ended with. With some simple match I can figure out how many hands or spins without having to track each one. This doesn't work as well if you're bet size is less than a dollar or so.

Also having some programming knowledge, I've been creating my own programs to help me keep track.

My basic listing is total deposits per account, and total withdrawals. This in turn provides me with total profit/loss per casino, and online gambling as a whole.
As well as this, I have analysed some casinos loyalty schemes, promotions, tournamenets, etc, in detail. This helps me decide which promotions to play, and which to discard.

I do not have profit per year/month, only a LIFETIME total to date. This can be useful when having a great short term success, because it immediately puts it into a long term perspective. A LONG TERM profit is the holy grail, and is likely to be achieved by winning a decent progressive jackpot.

Fascinating stuff, you guys. To date, all I ever did was keep track of deposit, beginning and ending balance, date, site. Have to rethink how I do this.

I didn't keep track of anything way back when. I got ideas about what kind of information to collect after reading this article:
Link Removed ( Old/Invalid)

I figured this was good info to know in general. Also, I was curious about how well I was doing and wanted something other than my faulty memory to go by. After a while you can start getting a sense of which games and bet sizes give you the longest play times.

Not read so much biull shizzaa as I did in the link you gave.

e.g hammered in vegas on vod n tonic playing slots or bj and you to remember the below : quote :

1. The date and type of your specific wager or wagering activity.

2. The name and address or locations of the gambling establishment.

3. The names of other persons present with you at the gambling establishment.

4. The amount(s) you won or lost.

come on pls get real. To track win or loss its very easy.

Spread sheet with all deposits, spread sheet for withdraws / month on month do a Plus or minus total figure. Work out from that how much you up or down. Game by game or spin by spin would be madness to try keep check of unless its MG software which does record all game logs. But not sure why anyone would need em long term.

This year example im now down around 10k (was up total year in nov 09) but then went on a gamblers bender. Pulled back around 2k in the last 24hours but not yet in my total. ;)

The big ??? in what I play is the foreign transaction fees. I started a poll https://www.casinomeister.com/forum...sely-do-you-track-your-online-gambling.34812/ here.

I exclusively use a prepaid Mastercard or withdrawn wins to fund my gambling. So the amount of funds I load to my prepaid and the amount withdrawn by wire to my bank account, less the monthly fee of $15 for the prepaid, and the incoming wire charges on my bank statement gives me an accurate enough picture of how much I won/loss.

I'd be very close to even over the course of the year if not for these fees.

Moneymart has introduced a new US fund mastercard, so I will be looking into that to see if it might be beneficial for me.

I just keep a basic spreadsheet for deposits and withdrawals each session. and a +/- column to record the net result per session. Then one other column for the running total. As for programs used, just MS word here.
For 2010 I will also include the session times as well.

I find it best to keep it as easy to update as possible, otherwise it becomes like one of those diarys you always promise to keep, but never bother to update after the middle of january!

Doesn't KK have some excel templates available to download? If not, he should. *hint hint*

Keep large stock of red pencils. For every expenditure, break one in half, throw it out the window. The pile of broken, red pencils, outside, about a cord's worth, gives me a rough idea.

I don't know how to make my template downloadable, but I will always send it by e-mail attachment to anyone who wants it.

I expect most people have already seen how I record all my wagering for each bonus, as per samples published on my site and in my blogs, eg:
Link Outdated / Removed

For my total gambling, I record everything on 1 very big spreadsheet with each casino listed down the left using 4 rows; Deposit, Bonus, Withdrawal, Net Gain (profit or loss). Vertically there is one column per month, as you can see in the small section of the sheet I have attached below. The grand total profit & loss is all summed in the row just below the month.
This is how I can tell at a simple glance how much I have won or lost at every casino I have ever played, and my total results for every month since May 2001!

It's not BS it's actually kind of simple.
  1. What's the date and what game are you playing.
  2. What casino are you at. (Addresses can be googled after the fact honestly.)
  3. At online casinos this is simple, me, myself, and I. This requirement smacks of being about exclusive (real life) poker games or something like the WSOP. With online poker, I think you still have leeway.
Tracking results by session isn't so hard and doesn't mean bet by bet or spin by spin. When you sit down at the table how much did you have and how much did you have when left. Or if you're online, what was your balance when you started to hit the spin or bet button. What was it when you decided to leave that game to try another game.

You've must have never sat at a roulette table watching some guy with "a system" diligently recording all the results waiting for the magical time to place his bet.

Well, I've already broken my new year's resolution by playing both slots and blackjack.

But, I'd like to thank the OP for this thread. I've also been one not to want to know how much I've gambled and won/lost online, but imo, that's not a good mentality to have...

KK has inspired me to actually keep a spreadsheet containing the games I've played each session, how many spins for each slot and for how much, total wagered, RTP%, etc...

I update this after each game I play, and I'm finding that it really keeps my head level. I guess putting it onto paper so to speak makes you realize if you're gambling way too much or betting too high or whatever...

Plus, I get tunnel vision a lot, and this helps to cure that, as well.

Make sense? :D

here's a snippet of my spreadsheet (PS: Aren't these RTP %'s sexy???):

I did ask a couple of the reps for my total deposits vs my withdrawals for the year, those two were enough to make me not to want to ask the rest of them lol.........laurie

I asked all that it was not extremely simple to check myself. I knew how much money went out of my pocket, and how much went back to my bank account, but I did not want to plow through pages of history and coupons accepted and coupons credited, deposits requested and deposits credited, tourney wins and the like.

When I load my prepaid, I usually play at more than one casino. A small cashout goes to Moneybookers, and usually gets played elsewhere. A larger cashout to Moneybookers, part is wired to my bank, and part is kept to keep on playing.

I knew my net loss for the year, but not just how much I was up or down at each casino.

I was able to figure it out from the 2 casinos, it wasnt as bad as i expected, i have seen it worse in past years, still the house is ahead again.....go figure lol............laurie

When do you actually update this spreadsheet? Is it at the end of each session, also how long does it take to compile the new data? How much of it is manually inputted, as a few of these columns you could use formulas, to at least speed the process up a bit.

You would have thought that by now the software would incorporate the facility to export user statistics into something like a CSV file.

I've actually been updating it when I finish playing a slot...it only takes 30 seconds or so to fill in the blanks. Stats like starting balance, RTP %, total stake, etc are automatically filled in. I pretty much just have to enter the # of spins, the amount per spin, ending balance and the bonus round winnings, if any.

Funny you should mention the CSV file. You *used* to be able to download a CSV file via Playcheck a long time ago. I'm still not sure why you can't now.
