Rouge means red in French and it can refer to:

British Arabic/Asian Girl band Rouge
A cosmetic, used to colour the cheeks and emphasize the cheekbones.
A fine powder of iron(III) oxide, used for polishing or cosmetics.
A similar abrasive powder, with composition and particle size of each type varying from manufacturer to manufacturer:
Green rouge, chromium(III) oxide.
White rouge, an ultra-fine, dry grade rouge, not as fine as red rouge.
Yellow rouge, for finishing gold, stainless steel, platinum and other hard metals.

Just looking over the Wikipedia entry from Sodax up above.

I like and lament the loss these days of those rather old-fashioned but very descriptive terms "scoundrel" and "rascal" for an unprincipled, deceitful, and unreliable person (like some of the folks who have featured negatively in this forum over the years!).

The Royal Dutch gang come to mind.....

This thread is here in response to Spear's concern that things have heated up recently in the forum. Nothing better than having a lighter thread to keep members off the boil.
