Would like peoples thoughts on this . I excluded myself from rival casinos probably 5 or 6 months ago . I had to do this I was loosing too much , compulsive gambler. No matter how much I won or lost just kept playing hours on end.

No Ive been doing ok last few months not playing , but yesterday just got the itch again . So i contacted a few casinos I used to play at to reopen accounts , These were rtg and vegas tech casinos all refused me as I told them in the past I had a problem .

But of course Rival was more then happy too reopen the accounts , ther reopened 4 of them at the following places , lionslot, absoluteslots, mayanfortune and simonsays . So I preceded to lose a few thousand there yesterday and today.

What Im asking is , do you think it was right for these people to reopen my account after I specifically excluded myself from all rival casinos telling them I had a problem. ?

And does anyone know the main emal of rival software provider so I can file a complaintw with them too.>?

I am very sorry that gambling is a problem for you.
The question I have to ask is if you knew it was a problem
why did you ask for them to be opened?
You could have went to a GA meeting in
the time it took you to email or call them?
Would you be wanting to file a complaint
if you had not lost??

another question comes to mind is
when you had asked them before to close
your accounts did you say it was
because you was addicted way to
much to gambling because each casino
has their own Customer support if
you didnt state I am having a problem that
I am a compulsive gambler an Need my accounts
closed an sent to each indavidual casino then they
probably didnt put in your record compulsive gambler
they probably put customer requested account to be closed.

Good Luck uninstall them all an go to Pogo an GA
Cindy

Yes , Rival has a self exclusion across all of there casinos for people with gambling problems.

What i was really asking in the post above is what people thought of there actions .

I know i shouldnt have asked ,but as i said im a compulsive gambler.

Just need to let some steam off.

If you told the casino that you had a gambling problem and to please close off your account i believe they are responsible for allowing you to open them again. It seems no different then a drug user looking for another fix and a doctor fully knowing this and giving him a script. or a alcoholic sitting at a bar with car keys in their hand and they keep serving them.
If you notified the casinos without telling them the reason behind you closing
the accounts then i do not think there is any action you can take. I myself have closed off a few accounts and reopened them few months later.
A lot of players close off accounts for other reasons beside problem gambling.
Therefore a casino would not just conclude that the closure of your account would be due to gambling problems,
What would you of done if you won and asked for a cash out, im not so sure you would be after the casino to reimburse you.

Your Miss reading my post.

I told them that I have a gambling problem and to permanently close my accounts and to never reopen them.

Im not looking for sympathy or money , I have plenty of both at home , I just wanted some peoples thoughts on this situation , when you tell a casino you have a problem and they dont give a crap.

I think it's more than obvious that RTG and Vegas Tech casino's all refused you to me that speaks mounds about morals. They are all in it for the money!! Sadly. Whether they were right or wrong isn't going to make it better. IMO they were wrong if you told them you had a compulsive gambling problem.. , but on the other hand... you were wrong to request it. Sorry but only you can control your actions and it must have taken some time to contact rtg, vegas tech and rivals.

i can only imagine inspin that after a 5 or 6 month break, maybe they felt like you had a hold on your problem and re opened them up for you as a courtesy, some casinos will do this after a player has taken a break from playing for some time and some wont,i wish you luck if you truely want to quit gambling but thats something that only you and you alone can make with the help of some great programs out there and i think c/m has some listed here also, this is just my opinin only and i do wish you all the best in the world at kicking this problem, i really do.........laurie:)

Inspin,

If the accounts were closed solely at your request, I wouldnt blame them for re-opening your accounts. How are they able to know whether it was the real you who made a request several months ago or whether you really wanted to re-open the accounts now. You could be complaining why they wont re-open your accounts despite your pleas.

If they had taken stock of your play and deposits and realised you had a gambling problem then it would be unethical for them to reopen your accounts. That said, one way to get around this will be to put you on probation for say 3 months where they limit the deposit amounts eg max $100 per deposit and only 5 deposits per month. If you hastily played your $500 per month within the first 3 days, boy it is likely that your gambling problem is still ingrained in you and they should take action including locking your account though you might not like it. If your pattern of play is steady they could review the situation and normalise your account. Just my 2c.

but yesterday just got the itch again
to lose a few thousand there yesterday and today.

you want to stop?

When you feel this: the itch again >>>>> remember this feeling >>>>>> to lose a few thousand.

re-opening accounts

Just my firm belief that ANYONE and i mean ANYONE that requests a account closed for problematic gambling should NEVER be allowed to play at that particular casino/s again n matter after how many months/years. Most casinos and poker sites tell you how FUN it is to play there well for the majority thats true but for more and more people that fun is becoming a nightmare due to compulsive gambling.I think im right in saying that most uk casinos/sportsbooks etc u can now exclude for 5 years and IMHO this should be across the board. its too easy for sites just to put a little gamcare link on there sites and basically pass the buck they must ALL start taking responsibility to protect players whom they know have a problem not just short term but long term....

I agree with you.

I don't really understand the other users here telling that it was OK for the casino to open the accounts. I believe that once a person has told about his problem to the casinos and asked to close the accounts they should have not opened his accounts.

The casinos advertise responsible gambling, but if they act like this it is very bad for everyone.

If it has been six or more months since you self excluded yourself from Rival's Casinos, then your request to reopen your account(s) can be acted on. In my opinion Rival acted properly if this is the case.

However if you stated in your request to reopen your account(s) that you still had a gambling problem, yet they reopened them anyway, then they are in the wrong.

If I were you, I would install Gamblock on your PC. That way you cannot give in to a moment of weakness again in the future.

Not true. I must disagree on this. We are talking about NON regulated online casinos. The have NO responsibility at this time. This is why we have the casinomeister forum to help us navigate this treacherous sea of casinos. B&M casinos will exclude you because they must if requested because they are regulated.

I feel very bad about you falling off the wagon, but you must ultimatly be responsible for yourself when playing online. Use the software that is available to block all gambling sites or if the need is so intense, or if you do not want to quit entirely, try to make a plan on playing and stick to it. There are a lot of good advice on the main page under quitting gambling.

I would be extremely angry if this happened at a licensed, regulated land casino but you and all the rest of us MUST remember, these casinos are out there UNREGULATED and have nothing to lose if they do not do as you ask.

No one can hold them accountable..that is a risk we take each time we play at any given online casino...Please, if the need is so great and you cannot control this urge use the software available...

Why have a self-exclusion system if a casino happily ignores it? Ah yes, to pretend that they give the slightest stuff about 'responsible gambling'.

Of course beating an addiction is largely down to individual willpower but if you have asked someone to help you with this and they have agreed, it is entirely unfair for them to then renege on this and feed your addiction

please

Can you tell me/us the name of the casino/s to which you are referring??

Very well said. This is what I guess I was trying to point out..because they have no accountablity at this time and can do as they please, or as you stated, pretend they care enough...to keep you playing...

Again, I agree, but who is going to MAKE them or REQUIRE them to hold to their policies?? This is where we, as players need to tread carefully and NOT depend on the casinos to do what it is we needed to do for ourselves..otherwise we are truly destined to fail completely as we have seen so many come back on the forum and state that they fell off the wagon again because a casino "allowed" them to reopen their accounts..

Only one accountable to a player is the player himself at this time until the laws are changed for the good...for online gambling.

Im not looking for sympathy or money , I have plenty of both at home , I just wanted some peoples thoughts on this situation , when you tell a casino you have a problem and they dont give a crap.

THIS is precisely why I am back here. And Inspin I totally do sympathize with you. When a player asks for permanent exclusion, it should mean permanent. Not six months, not a year...permanent. End of story.

This is a topic that no one seems to really want to talk about....not players, not operators, not the agencies who are supposed to help players...no one.

I have tons to say, and info to share on this subject....but it will have to wait as I'm not quite ready yet. But thanks for your post, as I see that I can now add Rival to the "list".

The truth of it is that we cannot lay the blame solely at the feet of an individual operator, although I'd love to. What you will find is that even the most reputable of online casinos abide by the "industry standard". And this industry standard is pretty much dictated to them by agencies such as Gamcare. The REAL problem lies in the fact that the industry standard just isn't good enough, not by a country mile.

Best of luck to you.....and if you truly have no control, then get the help you need. It's pretty obvious that at least for the time being, you cannot rely on an online casino to abide by your wishes and request.

Expect lots more on this topic.

Thanks for posting what must have been a difficult and embarassing confession Inspin..............kudos to you!

When a player asks a casino to close their account and cites gambling addiction as the reason, THEN (IMHO) THE CASINO HAS A MORAL RESPONSIBILITY TO NEVER EVER EVER REOPEN THAT ACCOUNT. PERIOD, END OF SENTENCE.
