I'm travelling to the Denver, Colorado area next month for work and I've never been to the casinos there.

I found this

. It shows like 20 casinos in this one town! I had no idea Denver had this many casinos close by. I'm planning to find time to check it out for a night.

Anyone have advice for a first-time visitor to Black Hawk? How do they compare to other U.S. casino towns? It looks like they have a couple of large casinos (Ameristar and Isle) with a bunch of really small ones. Many of them have live table games. Interested to hear from anyone who has "casino hopped" through this town.

Thanks!

Vey cool place.

I've driven through Black Hawk several times. The casinos are set in a canyon close together. I haven't been there in a couple years but I believe there's a Harrah's and a Riviera for sure. There's more but I can't think of the names. Not as well known. The games are all Vegas style. Smaller but comfortable. Dark inside, which is OK with me. There's a small town right around the corner. It's much like an old western gambling town. But I think its pretty slow over there, lately. I didn't stay in the hotels anywhere around there. But I did drive the 'Oh My God Highway" over the mountain to the other side to a town called Idaho Springs. OMG! Don't do it unless you have a strong heart. Really steep and no guard rails...

Don't get me wrong, though. There is a highway right into the area. I-10 has a pretty big, brand new exit for Blackhawk. You can't miss it heading east.

Thanks for the info. Just curious which was the OMG highway. That link I posted has a map of the area...

It looks like Riviera and Harrah's must have been sold and renamed. That link also has a directory and I didn't see those names there. Looks like the biggest are Ameristar and Isle...
