Corona virus - Covid 19 discussion

shit - id sooner have a shot (or 2) and fight a virus, than none and fight it heartily
Ya, I'm pretty healthful, young (ish) to come out the other side
Still - im big on...better safe(r) than sorry
Sounds like something an old person would say.

Is there a difference between these covid jabs and a 'leaky vaccine'?

The experts say we will have to learn to live with the virus, if you turn that sentence logic around, the virus has to learn to live with us, i.e. adapt and evolve to keep infecting people with the antibodies against it.

If you're vaccinated and spared severe illness, but can still shed virus particles, are you more likely to be out and about doing this, perhaps because your symptoms are mild. And then at some point those people whose immune systems don't mount much of a vaccine response are still in the firing line, having to isolate because the virus is circulating.

Maybe effective antivirals are the missing key ingredient, once we have them, the fear will be less all round.

10 minutes everyone until Sajid rolls out Plan C. Woo!

I thought we were only considering Plan B, as that's all that was being touted for months now!

So in essence, expect Work From Home to resume, mandatory face coverings and I guess another lockdown? Spiffing

It just sounds to me like they are preparing us for more lockdowns and the rest. Can't say that I am surprised

Seems Plan B's on hold for the foreseeable, albeit that's subject to change. No masks or WFH.....

With some luck they won't do another U-turn by December, when things get positively precarious, as it does every Winter.....

In its stead, I believe Sajid's now greenlit the use of Covid pills to aid those working from home etc

Interesting, she is obviously aware of her reaction trigger points. I wouldn't have thought the spike protein is still in people's bodies after more than 2-4 weeks (when they've been vaxed).
The poor lass can hardly avoid coming into contact with folk shedding. At her age she is bound to want to go out and meet both friends as well as new people as well as having to do the things she has too. :(

What's a Covid pill?

I work for a pharmacy and we usually get a heads up 24-48h before general and I've not heard of this creation?
I think no one's sure where he pulled that one from, but here's some snippets on it:

Nothing new that one has to pay a shitload for drugs (the legal kind) in the US of A.

Just take a look at the price difference of insulin:

Or the asthma medicine Ventolin:
"Albuterol is available in pharmacies for as little as $30, while its brand-name versions (Ventolin and Proventil) cost about $74 per inhaler."

I pay 26 cents, yes that's €0.26, for an inhaler with 200 doses of 100mcg.

In the worse ever pandemic since biblical times, cost of treatments should be internationally regulated and controlled until the crisis ends. Otherwise it's profiteering from a global disaster, and we still don't know if the virus leaked from the lab, which was carrying out controversial 'gain of function' research.

Socialism is fine, but just sometimes? :)

Well the crony capitalists want it both ways, pushing for our freedoms to be restricted but it's business as usual for them -or even a time of record profit headlines.

I am sure most of these innovative drugs have been built on the back of scientific work by universities, research that is open source etc.. Science is a global thing, discoveries built on the back of other's work done previously. Big Pharma takes the piss a lot.

I'm not disagreeing on the fact of the matter, don't get me wrong here.

But at the very start of the pandemic "certain" countries (read: USA) closed their borders and blocked goods to manufacture medical supplies from being exported. They even went as far as rerouting containers with supplies designated for other countries to theirs. Capitalism is a powerful thing, freedom comes with a hefty price I guess.

Do you really think the world can come together on regulating everything concerning covid until the end of this public health crisis? Even in the EU the members haven't given anything health-related out of their own hands.

It would be tricky to accomplish, but if we were in the equivalent of war time for global health, millions dying, why not introduce measures on big pharma/science. Every time B.gates was interviewed he should've been asked to support it. This new drug, $700 dollars when it costs $20 to manufacture iirc, that is going to mean rationing. Once the crisis is basically over, then business returns to normal.

No, they cannot, given the current setup, but they should and things need to change.

I knew the US paid silly amounts for drugs but I was not aware of how much. My naive mind was astonished by what was presented to be honest.

The USA clearly have significantly more motivation to profit from a pandemic than any other country. I would not be surprised to find out the pandemic was manufactured by them.

Irrefutable logic as far as I can tell:

They had to extend it because the vaccine is being used under emergency powers

They had to extend it because the vaccine is being used under emergency powers

Exactly as I predicted to you months ago the one and only reason why it will be extended.

ACT ONE Government say they won't impose restrictions *yet*. The trade unions, opposition MPs, and media talking heads all get on their soapboxes to insist "now is the time".

ACT TWO Giving impression of bowing to pressure, govt 'reluctantly' impose restrictions, as intended all along. Media castigate govt for 'delay'. Parameters of debate set at whether restrictions should've been imposed sooner, NOT whether they should've been imposed at all. 2/3

ACT THREE A critical mass of people see through charade, refuse to comply with unlawful restrictions, demand an end to the government assault on our freedoms. We're still waiting for Act Three.

It was admitted yesterday that the NIH did fund gain of function research on animals in Wuhan on bats with coronavirus's in order to create a more potent variant. Which means that Fauci lied to congress under oath.

I think that at this point they will have trouble getting those younger than middle aged to except the 3rd jab
