Coral reversed withdrawal in UK

Hi all

Wondered your take on the following:

Last week I had been betting large amounts on Blackjack on my Coral account, deposits around £50k and withdrawals ~£60k. I had pending withdrawals for around £20k which were delayed by a week and after numerous conversations in which I was promised the money would arrive the next day (3 days in a row) they said I'd maxed the visa withdrawal limit and they would have to manually bank transfer the money. As part of this, they reversed £1000 of one of the withdrawals (withdrawal total was £4000). They then withdrew £100 via bank transfer, leaving £900 in the account. I assume this was a mistake.

I subsequently lost the £900. I'm just wondering if I have any grounds to claim the £900 back, as I am in the UK and therefore my withdrawals shouldn't be being reversed at all.

From my understanding in the U.K. the reversal of a withdrawal shouldn’t be allowed.

Obviously I wouldn't have returned any money if I'd won, that's not the point. It's whether they broke the rule that they're not allowed to reverse withdrawals (which they did), and based on that whether I have a case to get the money back.

Considering how much power the operators have to e.g. ban / limit winners, confiscate funds etc. I think they deserve to be freerolled where possible.

Edit: And not that it has any bearing on my original question, but to clarify, I didn't log in, see the reverse withdrawal and immediately think "I'm gonna freeroll them", I logged in to check the withdrawal status which was days late, saw the money in the account, checked the transaction history to see where it came from, couldn't be bothered to speak to chat again at that moment and instead punted the money in the account and deposited a bunch more. I didn't think much of it at the time but they then excluded my account sighting responsible gaming, which led me to think about whether their actions had been responsible.

As I understand it, you can't reverse a withdrawal, but they can cancel one if it can't be processed for whatever reason. I've had that with a couple of casinos (different groups).

Yeah it's extremely annoying. They did that to me, I had a £700 or so withdrawal pending by bank transfer, I was playing £2 spins, putting 100 on autoplay and doing other stuff, after one set thought, get in, £600 up of that set, increased my stake, lost it (was up previously) - few days later, goes on live chat, where's my withdrawal, they had reversed it, no email, no pop up or anything, and I had spent it without knowing.

I find it a curious case as the UKGC not only themselves state that reverse withdrawals are not allowed during the lock down, but online casinos with a UKGC license are also obliged to have it written on the withdrawal page for UK players to ensure the player is informed of the reverse withdrawal restriction.

So as far as I am concerned not only have said casino broken the temporary regulations by reversing a withdrawal for a UK player, but most likely they should also have a warning for players stating that what they just did isn't according to said restrictions. Wouldn't said casino shoot themselves in both of their legs by doing what they just did? Can some UK player on this forum check if the casino withdrawal page has any information to their players regarding reverse withdrawals?

But it's not a reverse-withdrawal; it hasn't been requested by the player, rather cancelled by the casino. Legally quite different, though the effect is ultimately the same.

A reversal is purely intended to be requested so the player can play the funds. A cancellation may allow them to play the funds, but is intended to allow them to withdraw by some other method or otherwise comply with certain requirements.

Arguably it would be better for a casino to fence-off the funds and provide a link to change the withdrawal method, if that's the issue. But until they're made to, they're unlikely to.

Fair point danofthewibble. It was listed as a reverse withdrawal in the transaction details, and only part of the withdrawal was reversed, although unfortunately I can't login now to take a screenshot of it. Perhaps they don't have another status for cancelled withdrawal, I don't know.

funhaver - IIRC it does say on their withdrawal page that withdrawals can no longer be reversed as per the rules for all uk players.
