Heyas,

This site and its associated player and industry forums are, as I'm sure we're all aware, a valuable resource for new and experienced players alike, and a useful fallback for players seeking redress.

However I feel that there is the constant danger that the fringe industry members on these forums are colouring discussion without being up-front to all concerned about their affiliations.

Casino representatives are made known by their different titles and title format, but affiliates merely appear as members of differing seniority.
Likewise, content suppliers and other industry associates such as myself, are similarly anonymous.

This presents a significant avenue for deception and manipulation, if only by omission or selective posting or response.
Players that are unfamiliar with the associations of various posters may think them impartial when they are anything but, and money is a powerful motivator to be less than neutral.

Members should be required to disclose such association or affiliation.
Albeit this requires honest disclosure by members, but I feel many would comply.

I suggest that a field be added to the title section, or signature, to indicate financial associations such as those that draw affiliate income, revenue for services and so forth, and who that association is with.
e.g.: Content supplier to RTG, or MG and Rival affiliate

All members can therefore take comments from posters with appropriate knowledge of possible bias.

Woooof

A good idea IMO. It will invariably lead to the old "you're an affiliate therefore your opinion doesn't count" accusations but on the other hand an affiliate or interested party should be able to present themselves in a way which demonstrates impartiality if they are indeed, truly impartial.

I'd be happy to disclose this info. but too many trouble makers hanging around here. I try not to disclose my site, not because it's a bad place but because the senior members are like leaches and love to stir up crap! Theres about 10 or so, like a dog on a BONE! :) SORRY!

Its a great idea, and it can be done without naming websites or adding links etc - just a little something to say that the poster is financially associated with that business in some way.

In that case, one can read posts and decide what is a truly impartial opinion and what is a statement by those who MAY have a 'powerful motivation to be less than neutral.' (notice I said MAY).

I dont see anything wrong with someone just stating they a vested interest in something, if their intention is simply to provide an impartial view on a topic. The only members who I could see making a scene would be those who just want to take any opportunity they can to spruik or defend their interests under the guise of a 'regular' player/poster.

Members should be able to make up their own mind about which opinion counts and which doesnt, and knowing a poster is closely connected with the operation being discussed is important especially for those who are new or may be looking for information about where to play. Remember, just because one is connected doesnt mean one cant be neutral and honest - it all comes down to the content of the post, and how much of it actually contributes useful information and views and how much contains 'ABC is the best' and "ABC is just fantastic'.

Posters tend to be judged, in my experience, by what they post rather than what connections they have. I know there are members here who have financial connections, but who will readily call out the very operators they deal with when things go wrong....and THAT is the difference IMO.

I'd be happy to disclose this info. but too many trouble makers hanging around here. I try not to disclose my site, not because it's a bad place but because the senior members are like leaches and love to stir up crap! Theres about 10 or so, like a dog on a BONE! SORRY!

You have already stated you operate an RTG casino, so I cant see what else you would have to disclose...?? Nobody needs website names or casino names etc its just giving people the ability to take each post on its merit.

As for the senior members that 'love to stir up crap', well I think you will find that those members have one very important common interest and that is the INTEGRITY of the CM forums. Im assuming you're including me, and I can assure you that 99% of the 'crap stirring' comes from people who blow in and out attacking casinos, members and CM staff alike whenever they get in a bad mood about something (usually losing). It isnt the people who have been here many years that stir the pot - senior members are usually the ones who take these posters to task as they are 'protecting' what is a very important arena for sharing all of our combined knowledge and experience about gambling.

I speak for myself when I say that, when I see something happening over and over again that involves some kind of dishonesty etc, then I am absolutely a 'dog with a bone'.

First let me say that I respect your opinion and I admit that I tend to get somewhat rude at times but please don't take it personally. I need to work on that I admit! Although, I must say the first time I ever posted on this board looking for ad space I was attacked by two regular members and for no good reason. They defamed my site and I was doing nothing more than looking to purchase ad space. You know pay money.. So INTEGRITY isn't 100% around here like you stated or want it to be, sorry. I also disagree that 99% of the crap stirring comes from in and out posters. I've been hanging around here for quite some time and most of the attacking or should we call it allegations comes from regulars and not new members. If you don't think the senior members stir the pot go read all the RTG threads! :) As for dishonesty and jumping on the bandwagon, well that's fine if you have facts to enforce any allegations posted but honestly I've seen a bunch of allegations with no facts to support the theories. Where is the dishonesty you speak of and facts to back it up? Look the fact is it doesn't matter if I have a casino site, affiliate site, white label, forum or I'm married to the biggest casino operator in the world, or if I'm just Joe Blow somewhere in the universe. What do you do, who are you? Do you want to tell me and inside this forum? Probably not so why should anyone have an obligation to post anything here other than what they want? If you want to expose yourself on your own terms or whatever then fine but it should never be demanded on CM as this thread requests this, JMO. So in short everyone should take any post with a grain of salt and go with it but requesting personal information, what they do, or who they're affiliated with should never be enforced on any message forum including CM. Again JMO. I think everyone needs to chill out, including myself and enjoy what this site has to offer! Again thanks and all due respect to you and your opinion...
