My Windows partition is constantly full, I did a search for the 100 biggest files on my computer and none of them were on C. I'm guessing windows updates eat a lot of space. Anyone got a solution for cleaning this up? Reassigning partition size is not rly an option for me :(

Have you got any Microgaming download casinos? If so search for 'mgs' and delete them - they are colossal files of up to 12 GB each. if you delete them the MG sites will still identify you nest time you play there so you won't have to re-enter details.

@ILoveJesusThe video you PM'ed me is 20 minutes long
i dont have the patience to sit trough that :eek2: easy fix pls :D

@dunover i did install a microgaming casino so thats probably it! Thnx for bringing this to my attention.
One thing that bothers me though, is that the software never asked for a location when i installed it.

No it never does. You need to search 'my computer' for MGS and it will come up with quite a few items. You can safely delete them all you will see the dates are all the same from when you originally installed the casino. When you simply delete an MG casino from your programmes list, all it does is remove the shortcut and opening scheme - all the images from the games, your playcheck game reports and records of every spin plus game files are still hidden away in MGS. This is a massive file.

Did the drive suddenly fill up when it was fine yesterday? If so, I would look at anything you added recently like new casino software, movies.....
If it's been gradual over time, then look at things like your pictures, music and movie folders. Those can grow out of control over time if you happen to have a lot of this stuff.
Consider an external hard drive to move that stuff to. They are fairly inexpensive, and a good place to store a full system backup as well.

TBH I havent looked at it in a while so i wouldnt know. Last time this happened there was a huge cache-file from VLC player on C, and another one from windows backup. I fixed that and relocated those files.

All the stuff i added to my pc has been carefully directed to other partitions, i have one for music, downloads and games. I rly like to keep things tidy and put everything in seperate folders. Lucky me found a 1TB external network drive when cleaning out the attic, so im ready to move some big files. But how do you know what files can be moved from C without messing up windows? Files like the microgaming ones that dunover was talking about

This is too complex to explain in a chat thread. If you have a friend that is computer smart get them to help you. You have to worry about more than windows knowing where files are stored.
You could start by uninstalling some casino games and then reinstalling them. See if the re-install lets you select the location of the install, like the external drive. You cant just move the folders.
you can do this with other programs and games you have installed as well. Just don't uninstall something before your sure you can reinstall it ( do you have the software or access to download it).

The one download casino that i had has already been removed, free'd up some space but not nearly enough.
If this is a mission impossible like you said, what would be the 2nd best solution? Can I somehow make the C partition bigger with space from other drives once i get them cleaned up? Some tech-savy friend told me its not an option because the files on that partition will be lost.

It sounds like you have maybe just outgrown your computer so the next best option is to ask Santa for a new one with more space and power. There are lots of options, but without knowing you and your computer its difficult to recommend anything. Nothing is going to be quick or easy.

You can try a defrag on the drive. This usually only frees up a little space, but if you have an issue, it could free up a lot of space. This can take many hours to run. Start it when you go to bed and it might be done in the morning.

If you have Best Buy stores, you could try taking it to the geek squad and see what they can do for you.

This PC i built myself some 5, 6 years ago so yea its rly old. But i replaced components like the GPU & it still runs pretty smoothly nowadays (when i have enough disk space that is). Hence i dont wanna buy a new one! I'd rather try to make that partition bigger or replace the entire drive and copy everything across if that makes sense

edit i tried the defrag, as well as running windows cleanup software. Both didnt work

I'm sure you can probably replace the drive with a larger one and your local computer store will be more than happy to sell you everything you need to do it including a how to book. I personally would not attempt it because I don't have the patience and it would end up on my front lawn in pieces after 30 minutes. :)
good luck
