Windows 10 latest update crashed my computer. Be careful!

My desktop is three years old and have worked perfectly fine since I bought it. I've had no reason to not do the updates I've been offered. I should have been more careful...

A week ago there was a new update. As usual I chose to update and close, knowing that in the morning it would do its job before it started up.
Not this morning.
It got in to a loop of Automatic Repair, who failed every time to fix anything, instead offered me windows new options to fix different problems.

I tried to uninstall the latest updates. Wouldn't work as they weren't completed. Set it to another earlier time didn't work. Back to factory settings didn't work.
Couldn't get to Safe mode. Tried to turn off the Automatic Repair through cmd, but it didn't find the file.
Then I clicked F2 to do a check of the system and got a message that there was something wrong with the SSD hard drive :(

I called HP support today finally and was told I could as well just buy me a new hard drive because fixing it would probably cost more.
Thank you so very much Microsoft!

I lost so much I have no idea if I can ever get back. Pictures, documents, work.
The only thing I'm happy about right now is that I'm using an older computer for Photoshop and all my pictures. It's not good but it's at least working.
Almost impossible to play slots on though but not much to do about that.

This is a warning to you all about what could happen if you are not aware that updates can cause problems. Don't just accept them. Read up on them first and keep everything else up to date.

Besides that I hope you all have a great summer

Well I will say that certainly sucks, also doesn't fill my heart with warm fuzzy feelings knowing that an MS routine update could cause so much damage

Nor helped by the fact that I have an HP laptop with SSD and Windows 10, with the updates set automatically!

On a side note, HP are somewhat notorious in leaky security issues, isn't a week that goes by where they don't inform me of (yet) another critical breach via email bulletin

Not sure what one can do to prevent such a catastrophic Microsoft system failure though, if updates are kind of thrust upon us.....not updating would also bring all manner of security problems, surely

I believe after what I've read this week, that it's the last two updates that are causing most problems. In a lot of forums they are saying that the latest update was released way too early since there was still known bugs with the big one from May.

I've learned a lot of new things at least, like how to reach the Safe mode. That was a new one for me.
Also there could have been something wrong with my hard drive already that I had no clue about. Doesn't help me now though.

I am sorry to hear all that stuff being lost. I've had computers die for various reasons without having backed stuff up etc, so more technical reasons

But you don't expect a simple update to cause this. I'd be livid too

On this computer where I edit and have all my pictures I'm a good girl though. Every month I save my pictures to an extern hard drive, and I make sure I have posted or placed the best ones somewhere also.
Why don't I do that with other stuff? :p
