[...]e.

but people are allowed a opinion, you may not like it or endorse it but thats tough.

opinions are like assholes, we all have them.

if people are upset about what others think then a public forum with differing opinions isn’t for them..

a echo chamber would be better suited.

[...]
Very true, but when people try to pass off opinions as facts, that is when I agree with cncas2123, and evidence should then be provided.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion but they should be prepared to back it up with evidence, and thats never forthcoming, and frankly to state that Covid is caused by 5G and promote one of several snake oil cures for Covid is downright dangerous, not just an opinion.

Fair comment, but sometimes a opinion is just that.

you can’t provide facts and science to every thought you have on something.

but I do agree with yourself and my new friend @cncas2123 that Some history or background is helpful when attempting to back up what your wanting to say.

Some posters - not yourself - just seem to exist in order to go around calling things bullshit and implying members are B*llshitters, when that's clearly not conducive to a friendly forum atmosphere imo.

I see that as a bigger problem than someone giving an opinion they have formed, but not necessarily spent hours trying to confirm via sources on the internet.

See @ladyhawke you can discuss and debate with in a perfectly normal way, we both totally disagree but after we spoke we have a laugh and I’d like to think genuinely respect each other.

as it should be.

sadly all are not like the above mentioned.

Regardless of political opinion and wider views, there are a myriad of ways in which you can practice diplomacy on a forum. Rolling eyes and a total disregard of the other person's viewpoint is not one of them.

This being said, I have a lot of respect for Harry- certainly one of the posters you sit up and take notice of...and for that reason it is sad to see him go.

As for the point about opinions and facts- The two are not necessarily mutually exclusive. Everyone should be entitled to their opinion and not be chastised for it just because the other person happens to take umbrage with it. The one thing that definitely doesn't sit right with me is posters who try and make others look stupid through some misplaced sense of self superiority.

I agree that opinions and facts are not necessarily mutually exclusive in that occasionally the two become conflated, causing further confusion as to what is verifiable (fact) and what is a personal viewpoint (opinion), albeit based on what one has read or heard.

However, to present opinion as fact, particularly when the subject in question is contentious, is dangerous and misleading, and I would actually expect someone, if challenged, to have quotable sources. Otherwise, as the old saying goes, it would be impossible to sort out fact from fiction.

So... let's look at a Trump example (Sorry everyone...)

If someone states that Trump has done more for black Americans than any other president in history, then that is an opinion stated as fact, even though Trump himself often says this about himself. But it is still an opinion, NOT a fact, and they should expect to be called out for it. That is not to say Trump has done nothing for black Americans, but a sweeping statement like this one is unprovable.

However if someone states that Trump is going to win the election in a landside, that is purely an opinion, and while I would be curious to find out the reasons behind that person's thinking, they are perfectly entitled to think this way, and shouldn't have to justify their reasoning, let alone be subjected to a barrage of criticism.

The reason Trump says that is because the left wing media relentlessly calls him a racist in almost every news segment. Just watch a week of CNN. Not to mention the left wing and its media mobs double standards, hypocrisy and gaslighting.

Its provable if Trump has done more for Black Americans than any other president. He did some good stuff but more, no.

Trump signed Criminal Justice Reform ( The First Step Act)
Funded the Historically Black Colleges for 10 years with even more money than requested whereas they were funded yearly.
Created Opportunity Zones
And now the Platinum Plan

Would you say this is more? I think it is.

Four civil rights acts were passed, including three laws in the first two years of Johnson's presidency. Lyndon B. Johnson through Great Society legislation signed the Voting Rights Act, the Civil Rights Act, and the Fair Housing Act, and desegregated hospitals in the South through the Social Security Act Amendments of 1965

I'll throw these here but won't be responding to any posts.

How can anyone think this man protects americans is a fool

@Harry_BKK you will be fine as long as you dont challenge the posters who promote the following:

Coronavirus is a Flu.
Covid is caused by 5G.
HCQ cures Covid, as proved by a very flawed French test.
David Icke rules.
Bill Gates is trying to put chips into everything.
Bill Gates poisoned thousands of children in India and Africa, all in the nale of vaccination.
Donald Trump is the second coming.
Joe Biden is the devil incarnate.
All Democrats are evil doers and crooks.
Republicans can do whatever they want, just because they are Republicans.

This is only an indicative list of what gets posted as fact by a small core of posters who seem blind to actual truth, and thankfully Harry calls them out and presents them with fact which they can never refute.

So you see, as long as you dont post any evidence to disprove the "alternative facts/views" you will be fine.
This site will be so much the poorer without your common sense and evidence posting, and I hope you reconsider and I hope you keep posting and calling out the Bullshitters.
A prime example of what is wrong with this forum. And posted in a thread that is designed to address forum issues!

SORRY, First time I commented on this thread, I didn't even read the thread title, I just got notification for this as I follow it, Went to make breakfest came back and only ready last few posts about trump and my mind assumed it was another thread all together,

Sorry for derailing !

Ok folks - let's not confuse this thread with a political rant one. LOL

So far I have a load of people that say don't change a thing. I have others that say - "yeah, the political rants section is a problem - it should go." And I have been approached by some that are pointing out a toxic environment of cliquish behavior - thus they are not posting as much as before.

So what's a poor boy top do? :p

Well - I have my thinking cap on - any assistance on sending me brainwaves would be appreciated. :D

@Harry_BKK - please read my PM - there are other options, you don't need to leave the forum. Your presence and contributions here are noted by all.
