Brexit - whats the difference.....

Remainers seem to conveniently gloss over the point that most leavers actually want us to, you know, leave. Not prevaricate around the issue.

They tell us to leave if we want to leave but it's not us, the mere pleb, that has any control over this. We've seen parliament repeatedly try and paralyse the process. So you can understand the frustrations of leavers. All the leavers did was vote one way in a bi modal vote. It was then up to the government to implement this decision as they promised they would pre referendum. Easy to promise when their hubris assumed an easy remain win. They didn't get the result they wanted so maybe they should deal with it rather than paralysing the whole process just because it didn't fall the way they assumed it would.

As for remainers, I've seen it said that the EU are fed up of us and might not grant us another extension. To that I say 'good, kick us out then'. The thing is they haven't so far and neither will they. It's just not in their interest for us to actually leave. Whether remainers want to admit it or not, we're one of the largest economies of the EU.

I'd bet a year's wages that the EU would grant extensions ad infinitum if it meant us not leaving.

Plus if we do better outside than in, others might want to follow our route, and the EU are desperate for that not to happen.

So it's clear, it's not a 'them and us' situation as some posters here have tried to make out, many europeans are also discontent with the EU.

I'm going to be entirely honest here, I'm starting to question myself now re all this no deal stuff, what's that saying 'chucking the baby out with the bath water'

Boris Johnson has been getting his first briefings as to what a No Deal Brexit will actually look like, as in, what it will REALLY look like, not just him stood on a stage in front of the party faithful waving kippers around from non-EU countries that have to follow EU rules anyway, whilst moaning about EU rules on kippers that were in fact put in place by the UK government.

When Gov sources told the incoming pm that fresh food would only by 3rd highest no-deal priority.

EU and Ireland getting sweaty and nervous and preparing to cosy up to Boris and give him a new deal as predicted many times it would be the EU who would give in in the end if we held out for a no deal,

Ireland are crapping themselves over a no deal and the border issue we just needed to wait and let them give in.

Yes a bit of traction today with regards to the EU blinking.

A credible threat of no deal sees a potential breakthrough. Who'd have thought it!

I get the feeling that EU is negotiating with suicidal people. Good luck with that tactic :P

So Chopley's version must be true and my link must be false again typical remainer tactic my info is right yours is wrong.

Well let's just wait and see if the EU rip the backstop out of the Withdrawal Agreement then.

The elephant in the room is the survival of the conservative party and our two party system [well 2.5 if you add the liberals] without delivering something called 'brexit' the conservatives will lose the next general election as a large percentage of their traditional voters switch to the brexit party.

The remainer uk civil service and EU bigwigs [who sing from the same hymn sheet] have got to compromise and come up with something agreeable to both sides of the divide.

I think the backstop will be binned, but we'll have some sort of bespoke customs union agreement on core issues + free trade + the paying the 39 billion + EU continued access to our fishing areas + rights for existing eu citizens in the uk. There's no need to have a backstop holding us against our democratic will in the full EU but without any influence.

May's deal was always worse than leaving, but even people like bojo were prepared to vote for it in order to save the conservative party rather than deliver a brexit as most people would've understood it to mean in 2016. [Some sort of 'clean break'.] so bojo has form for being dishonourable politically and personally, but still preferable to hunt, who is basically the male version of Theresa May.

If things weren't bad enough the last few years now this country is well and truly fucked.
At least it isn't Corbum the pseudo-socialist, never mind 'fucked' with him it'd be triple penetration.

We'll have new world order now with Donald Johnson and Boris Trump, it'll be perfect, can't you all see???

That's what worries me we now have a complete idiot that offended just about every world leader that is not capable of dealing with himself let alone post brexit deals as the guy is a total clown.

Or we have a general election and Corbyn gets in which is even worse.

Like i said the country is totally fucked now

As far as I understand it if boris doesn't change anything we leave the EU automatically on the 31st october, the only way to circumvent it is a vote of no confidence in the govt, which if successful would then trigger a general election...boris doesn't need to prorogue parliament or have any more votes on the subject of brexit. [unless the uk and the EU manage to negotiate a new 'deal' which then parliament would have a vote on]

I wonder how the maths add up re a vote of no confidence, whether there are enough remainer tories prepared to lose their seat and parliamentary career in order to stop brexit...alternatively what do they want in a new EU brexit 'deal', what would be required to get their support. The cabinet appointments boris makes will tell us a lot about the approach he intends to take, but Parliament breaks up soon so not sure if he'll announce his full cabinet before then.

The EU do seem to be shifting in their seat a little, slightly uncomfortable with the prospect of having to negotiate with a maverick boris rather than a devout EU worshipper like May.

This article neatly sums up the hole he's put himself in.

Indeed, let's see what happens when 'belief' and 'mojo' and MAKING BRITAIN GREAT AGAIN collides with the reality of the situation.

The good thing about this horrible human being becoming Prime Minister is that for once in his life he's going to have to try and clear up his own mess.

The logical steps are:

1. Johnson tries to resolve backstop and/or tweak the deal.
2. Whether he does or not, we put it to the commons again.
3. When rejected due to petty party politics and traitorous MP's (which it likely will be) he puts forward a bill for a LEGALLY BINDING referendum for the first week of October which will be "Further to the decision made by the UK electorate to leave the EU, shall we proceed with this deal, or leave with no deal?"
(Surely enough MP's would be glad to absolve themselves of the responsibility in order to put the decision back to the voters again, especially LieBore ones with massive leave votes.)
4. If anti-democracy and traitorous MP's like the LibPhlegms and LieBore muster enough to support to prevent democracy and this referendum bill fails in the commons, then Johnson suspends Parliament and we leave without a deal.

Either way WE GET THE F*CK OUT!! which is what we voted for.

I am sure the Prince of Whales will be happy to see at last a United Kingston!

Really good speller, just like her father! :D
I like how she thought for herself when she said "He will be great"

A great day for this country a day when we can now move forward with promise and be the best.

I've been thinking about this, what does it mean to be the 'best'? To be the best you have to be better than everyone else.

Is Britain a better country than France or Germany?

Are British people better than the Spanish or Italians?

What are we better at? And how will we know when we are the best?
