Breakaway Casino stealing my winnings

I'm curious as well because I don't use anything like that.. Why the hell would you think that????

You do, actually. Or at least you have it installed, because you have an Open VPN shortcut in your system tray (the icon that looks like two overlapping monitors). It's a pretty common user/developer tool for connecting to a vpn/changing your ip, primarily to Linux servers, although it would be interesting to know why you were using it.

I nominate you for the "Hawk Eye Of The Year" award. :D

Although, is it possible that the program is necessary to emulate Windows XP on a Mac so that it can use the Mac's internet connection?

No it's not neccesary, had some trouble with my internet connection trough Parallels allthough in a later update it got fixed. I do use it to connect to the university trough VPN.

I got to say nice find though haha.. But no, I don't mask my IP address...

Confesses. :p

You see, it pays to be upfront with everyone, because you will get caught out. But in all fairness, Reynier is in the NL like he claims, and all his IPs point there as well. I have no indicators that he's trying to pull a fast one here.

Brian, do you actualy know what vpn connections are used for?
It is mostly used to connect to coorperate lan networks(eg. for working at home, connecting to the university library etc.).
OpenVPN is a full-featured SSL VPN solution which can accomodate a wide range of configurations, including remote access, site-to-site VPNs, WiFi security, and enterprise-scale remote access solutions with load balancing, failover, and fine-grained access-controls

So if you think that openvpn is some sort of anonymizer software you are wrong...

This traffic is encrypted using either a static key or a public/private key pair (your choice at setup, the latter is more secure), and this virtual "pipe" is used to send all of your traffic. This would be the eqivilent of taking a fully addressed and stamped envelope ready to go, and then putting that in another fully address and stamped envelope, then sending it out. No one would be able to see the header of the enclosed envelope. So not only is the data unknown, but so is the intent of the data (target ip and port, type of packet, etc).

This couldn't be used to mask sending ip and port, etc.?

I suppose IP-masking would be better to have said than anonymizing.

Open VPN isn't anonymous and not the same as anonymous-proxy servers at all (although I assume it would support anonymous proxy servers if you googled ones that worked with them). However, I could very easily rent a server in the Netherlands and it would be very easy to use Open VPN to remotely connect there or anywhere, route my connection through my remotely hosted server, and end up with a NL IP on my desktop computer. I've met a few US poker players who used to do this when Party started disallowing US customers so they could continue to play on their site (except they routed through Canadian or UK servers rather than NL ones, primarily).

Just because VPNs are *generally* used for legitimate means, doesn't mean they can't easily be used to defraud a casino or poker room by masking your internet conncction.

I'm not saying you are or aren't fraudulent, but Open VPN is not exactly a common utility to have installed on your computer, and not being up front about it, and your initial denial make you seem fishy. Then again, Bryan has privy to more of your details than I do, so I'm sure he has a better sense of things than I do.

I was told only a couple of hours ago that they are contacting you. Please give us a status report when you hear of something.

If Casinomeister's reply was to me then I can say that there has been no attempt to Email, call, PM, Write, send smoke signals, telepathy.... me in any way. So, I am still waiting for these guys to pay up and contact me.

No smoke signal? Damn! They need to buy a better bong :D

jk

They were supposed to have contacted you lastweek to deal with this...

Got a PM from represenative of the SciFi Group offering me a bonus to work this out once and for all. But I don't really feel like accepting a bonus and playing there again since my winnings weren't and aren't being paid from the last time I won...

Reynier,

Maybe you should take the bonus. Accepting it does not in any way put you in the wrong but this is probably the best outcome that can be achieved under the circumstances. However, I would say that the amount of the bonus should be the sum that you intended to cash out, nothing less at say 10X WRs. It makes things more even and you have the potential in making a huge cashout.

Hey Hey!

They actually did contact me via Email! So far so good. They have not said for sure that they would pay me but it looks promising. I will surely report back when/if anything happens here!
Thank you for using your influence here Bryan.

meh, Nothing since the first contacts regarding this. They have not told me yet if they are going to pay me or how and have not yet contacted me back since I last reported. I have not given up on them though, but I am reporting how this goes for everyone.

HEY HEY!!!

Break Away casino has in fact paid me the money owed!!! They had actually paid me about a month ago but I have been on extended Holliday so I am just getting to posting the update now. I want to thank all involved and also thank Break away for finally doing the right thing! I am elated over this - not for the money's sake as it was a small amount but because I feel like sometimes in the industry the correct thing may still happen and I was losing my faith.
Thanks to all involved and sorry that I did not post earlier about the correct treatment given to me.

YES!

So you are saying that the Icon that you can also see on my computer screen that I show in my two screenshots shown below represent this so called "Open VPN" which I can use to change my IP Address, and it is just simply not showing my "Local Area Connection" Status ?

In the second screen shot the info window pops up when I float my mouse pointer over the double monitor icon...

I guess you could also ask me the same thing then...huh ?
