Isn't it great when you run into someone that you haven't seen for a long time? Mavin had me laughing in another thread, so I thought of 2 friends I have just recently run into.

First guy....I have know him since I was about 14 years old (I am 39) we dated on and off for years and just laugh all the time. I bumped into him at our local 7-11, he hasn't been in this area for years. We just started talking like we were already in a conversation and started laughing, I had tears in my eyes and was actually snorting...LMAO.

Second guy....(yes I have more male friends) he was my boss from 15 years ago. I haven't seen him in years. He speaks fluent Polish and English, I speak fluent (sometimes :D) English and a few words and phrases in Polish. He walks past me at 7-11 (I go there a lot to get my coffee) and says "hey I know you" I say to him "how's it hanging" in Polish....he says well luckily I'm wearing shorts so I can check it out. hahahaha....again with him we just kinda already had a conversation going.

It is a bit different with women. It's a different kind of talk, more serious, not so much laughing and joking....more like "how's your daughters" and such.

Has anyone else run into someone you haven't seen in a long time? How did it go?

Oh come on everyone!!! You guys must run into people you haven't seen in years, no?

Does it go smoothly? Is it odd? Bla bla bla....

Hey guess where my husband is? He belongs to a greyhound forum, and he is meeting 4 or 5 guys from the forum about 1.5 hours away, he took my dad.

Hiya: Most of the time when this happens to me someone walks up and says, "Hey Hugh, long time no see".........and i just stand there with the deer in the headlights look, because i have no idea who this person is....:o

Know that dear in the headlights look very well, I thought it was just me from living with the mom in law for so long. Did you know alzheimers is contagious? Not! But good excuse.

Some time back Vegetagirl invited me to check out face book, I did and opened an account there, but haven't been on it much. I have been away from people I have known for so long that my memory just doesn't want to work with me.

I was surprised to see facebook immediately pulled up people I had gone to high school with, just to weird. There are a couple more recent people waiting on my friends list but I find it hard to contact those I knew a long time ago, as I really don't remember much about them. Feels awkward.

I guess for me, it is really difficult to rekindle old friendships, as the gap is hard to bridge.

I think that's why I enjoy the new friends I find here and a very few other places, I kind of live in the now. I am not one to join a lot of places for interaction with people, so I tend to go overboard here I think because I am so comfortable with the many people here. A good diversity of personalities collected in one place and yet we all share a common interest whether we gamble or not.

So for all the new friends and encounters here, I enjoy having fun with, or debating with, or just reading what you have to say. You're all amazing people!

What about a friend you had for years and moved away, and then you run into them last week?

Guilty also, I don't post anywhere else, a few times here and there, but mostly here.

You know what's weird? I seem to get along better with women here, but in real life, I get along much better with men. Strange.

"people are strange" da da da :D

Well, actually I have never had any old friends for years, with the exception of one that lives here in Globe. She has the same situation as me, lives and cares for an elderly relative with alzheimers, so we are both tied down.

I was moved around a lot during my growing up years, so never kept any attachments to people I was around. There are a few when I lived in Tucson I think would be nice to see again, but nobody ever comes to Globe and I'm certainly not going anywhere soon.

Some of the people here I made friends with or most come with a lot of baggage, puts a strain on being friends when they want to dump on you all the time. So I guess I am happy with things the way they are.

Besides I know if I tick someone off here, at least they can't come over and punch me up beside the head. ;)

But they could call me a hairy nipple wart.......
