EBay didn't say anything about our attempt - they simply suspended Casinomeister's account. AND kept the fees to boot.

I gave up a lucrative sideline buying/selling on ebay after their Customer Service let me down several times too often - it was just too much hassle working with them and too galling to be lining their pockets at the same time. They've not got a clue.

Ebay is huge, not an excause, but they can't personally respond to every little $1 transaction gone wrong. I sell a lot so I get 24/7 telephone support, never a long hold. Also, they return fees if they cancel and item. Not to get off post. Great idea to donate this way, everyone agrees. But there are there are ways one can donate with out at the same time helping criminals. That would be the case if Crystal Palace won. If two wrongs don't make a right, does one wrong and a bigger right make a right in the end? And it is a joke to say "if you don't want them to win, just be the high bidder". Not everyone runs a casino or has 35K + to donate. So lets all find a way to donate and not support criminals, it is really not that hard to do.

Golden Palace will already know about this, you can be sure of that. They're certainly the lesser of two evils. I'd take their huge player rip of late 2000 against Cloud's crimes any day of the week. Maybe they'll bid, but Playtech and Bryan don't exactly enjoy a relationship made in heaven, and since we don't know when this thing ends one has to figure that the interested parties have by now all showed their hands. Maybe there are some decent trump cards yet to be played, however.

And yes, bereft of a casino and 40K gathering dust somewhere it's rather hard to put up opposing bids.

I was not going to mention anything to save the man some embarrassment, but after Bethug's banning last week, he tried to sabotage the auction at least once this weekend with fake bidding. When I confronted him about this, his reply was:

The fake bids were particularly irresponsible and nasty, and clearly the most potentially damaging of these actions.

The site is rather like a naughty little boy spraying insults on a school wall, and about as effective. Damian, you need to remember that you are representing people in your capacity as the President of the OPU - you're not just an eccentric individual any more.

I have donated what I could to UNICEF and I hope that it in no way helped a criminal organization. I did my research on UNICEF and it appears that most of the money does not got to the CEO or other expenses, but to the people we want to help. I did my research on Crystal Palace and it appears that they are dishonest. So with all due respect, I will donate it a way where my giving does not have the reciprocal effect of hurting others, even if the others are not in as great a need. I will leave it at that other than to say that when you run an auction on ebay, you can cancel bids. Cancel rouge bids, it is simple as that. Then the charity wins and innocent players don't get burned.
