Well I thought I would tell everyone about something I tried tonight. I have been looking for a way to help me control my expenditures for gambling.

Tonight I went to Safeway. It is a grocery store where I live and they sell something called an ALL ACCESS VISA gift card. You walk up to the register and pay whatever domination you wish to purchase. I saw them in 50,25 and 100 amounts. you walk out of the store, go home and register the card on the net(which takes only a second)..and wallaaaa...you are funded.

I think it might help control my spending because i have to drive ten miles to this store to buy one. Therefore It makes me have to plan my purchases and I dont have to worry about going into that "zone" that makes me keep replenishing my account at the casino..
I dont know if they are available everywhere..but If anyone is looking for a way to fund their accounts other than the ones offered by casinos I think it is a good alternative..
Do not mistake this for the other prepaid card where you send off money and it takes a few weeks to get it up and running. These cards are immediate. When you use them up, you throw them away.

Hope someone finds this useful....:D

They are an excellent way to control your spending Kellye. I am in Canada, so unfortunately I don't have as many options up here. I do however use Western Union (slightly more expensive but it does require that I have cash in hand), or I will fund my Payspark via Western Union, or if I could obtain one of the prepaid CC's, I would use that. I know I read some posts by people who said that not all of the prepaid cards were accepted at all casinos, or even by Payspark or whoever, so I would just make sure to try and do a bit of research as to which ones are accepted before purchasing. Good concept though for people on a budget. :)

Doesn't help me, wenn I really have an urge to gamble... In Germany it is 'Paysafecard', functions exactly like your card, you buy it in Telecom-stores. So sometimes I have to drive to another neighbourhood to buy it, wenn I cant' use my credit card. But usually I am pretty good in controling myself and always try not to overcharge my monthly budget.:) because nobody is going to borow me money for.. gambling:eek: and I don't want to hunger...:eek2:

In Greece you can get them through Bank of Attica at any denomination you require up to quite a high amount.

They work but you have to have purchased it yourself or else it can create problems on some servers. Alternately people fund their Neteller account with the card in order to get the better bonuses.

They are a useful solution.

If i understand the concept correctly, there's also a UK equivalent called Ukash (www.ukash.com) which i notice a number of the casinos now accept.

Are pre-paid credit cards generally okay to use for gambling? Most normal cards refuse the transaction. This would be a nice additional payment method if it worked.

EDIT: From the US I mean

I have been using a prepaid mastercard for a while That I originally purchased at Safeway. I think it was $9.95 to open the account and $3.95 - 4.95 to reload it. The minimum reload is $20 and maximum is $500. I think it's through Geendot Online the website is www.mymccard.com. They can also be purchased at Walgreen's or at Coinstar Machines as well as other places depending on where you live.

I only had a problem once. After about 6 months of using the card I think the they realized I was using it for gambling and started to decline my casino purchases but I was still able to use the card for other things. So I stopped using that card and bought another one and haven't had any problems in almost a year. Oh and the cards do expire after one year anyway.

Hope this helps!

So, for a while it will work.... and then it just starts declining it? I just hope they don't get to wise on this..... then we'll all be in the cold!!! :) But I can't wait to go get mine this weekend!!! WHOOOOOOO HOOO!

Sorry to burst your bubble, but the one you get from CVS, Walgreens, etc, (mymccard.com) will NOT work with gaming transactions....if you haven't agreed to their T&C, I believe you could still get a refund for what you've paid for it, etc...I too had one and a few months after I had it, they stopped allowing gaming transactions, and changed their T&C to show it....:\ wouldn't even give me a friggin refund (They were charging $20 extra to "upgrade" just so you could use it for gambling online!!!!!!!!)
