This is at the moment based on what has been reported in the Daily Mail - but interesting that the UKGC this week commenced a consultation process on affordable and responsible gambling. Do not be surprised that there is mileage in this, after all it is fact that many lobby groups want to introduce a maximum bet limit on online slot games.
Unfortunately for the industry as a whole in the UK at the moment, there is a vocal minority that would see nothing better than decimating the industry. A form of prohibition as it were and we all know how that turned out.
The movers behind these ridiculous and shortsighted ideas obviously don't care about players as a whole, otherwise they would see that their actions and ideas if implemented would drive players to unregulated operators, where they are not afforded any protections whatsoever.

It is totally unmanageable, as it stands GDPR will not allow competitors to share any info, especially financial.
£100 loss per casino maybe (again unlikely) but as a whole, virtually impossible to implement.
Not only would gaming laws and restrictions have to be passed (yes, quite possible) but this opens a whole other can of worms which involves other 3rd party action (not gonna happen) and massive action / workload at that!

Not really mission impossible to make centralized database held by UKGC like they hold Gamstop database, bit more complicated but not really hard to make call to check players "balance" beginning of the session and take limit how much one can still lose and then send it back after session (and prevent multiple logins at many sites same time). Creating global id:s for UKGC for every player would make Gamstops easier as well (maybe one day there is BankID in use like in ie. Sweden which makes this kind of verifications really easy).
Most probably they are happy with £100 per casino which already makes it really annoying to change place after every deposit. Not much sense in these but they have to do something to exist and get paid so these great ideas keep coming all the time few per year.

It will be the death of UK based streamers. The only streamer that I follow occasionally is a streamer who's YT site was born while he posted in CM regularly. Since the new YT rules where introduced he posted his first stream a few days ago and he sounded very despondent. He sounded as if he is giving up.
I can see the UK being left with only the big bookies to play at and if that was the case then I will have to restrict my deposits for only horse racing bets

Definitely, you can already block gambling transactions on your debit cards using internet banking. So I would imagine that this would be quite straightforward to do.

Making that banks work would not be really fair as it does have cost attached, also it's not really easy task to catch all gambling transactions as operators have so many different payment routes that keeping all these up to date and accurate would be bit hard. Also if you would need to count deposits minus withdrawals to get in net loss numbers it would make it really challenging top of their other duties in monitoring money transfers. Also there are multiple ways to deposit and many of them not connected to banks, netwallets and especially vouchers are impossible to control anywhere but operator level (or route them through centralized system).
Would kind of see UKGC be the one who could have counts in place, all casino operators just would have to update all transfers to centralized database etc... But really don't see mandatory £100 loss limit sort all problems, then there would be other segment of impersonation players who now use other people identities because they registered to Gamstop, now you would need to use your friends accounts once you meet your personal limit per month....
Seein loads of hassle in this if willing to implement and not being really effective as most probably just be amount per casino. Also ones who don't hold UKGC limits could collect more deposits from UK top of Gamstop people.

There are many times i believe governments should be authoritarian in their treatment and support for addiction.
Alcoholics, drug addicts and sufferers of mental illness are allowed to destroy their lives and their families without limitation or intervention. For the large part unless the addict admits themselves to a clinic nobody can stop them.
I dont know of such measures being used to combat those issues and they are much bigger problems.
Its a good idea but it becomes an infringement of your personal liberty when its pushed on the majority because of the minority.
Whose to say i cant spend my spare cash as i want anyway? Is my Xmas shopping budget going to be restricted soon because the do-gooders deem my spend as extravagant. Will it be turned into fruit and veg vouchers to ensure i am spending as i should on what i should? Is this even democratic? Bloody hippies!

They'll get around it somehow, like claiming it's a business expense or something like that and not an actual loss. Or the casinos will apply the funds from their end and deduct from affy earnings.
