Needless to say that he lost everything at the end.....

I only play like that if i'm in a tournament and i'm way behind and i'm running out of time. Then i try to get as much money on the table as possible (by doubling & splitting). Needless to say, it doesn't payoff very often.

let me tell you... I was at ballys a month ago and everytime the dealer had 6 showing, and someone to the left of me had a 14,15,16, he would hit. He got a 10 card and busted, dealer shows a 10 and 6, then draws a 3 or 4 for a 19/20.

It was driving me mad! I was going to say to him, WTF ARE YOU STEALING ALL THE DEALERS 10 CARDS FOR! DONT HIT ON 16 you fool! lol

keep in mind, I had about 300-600 per hand so it wasnt small and eventually I just got up and switched tables. Drove me mad though.

actually come to think of it, this happened a lot when I was playing casinowebcam too. maybe I jut attract a lot of noob blackjack players around me...

naturally their bets were $5 and mine were $1000 so they didnt really care ahah

That guy was always taking insurance, splitting 10's,never double on 9 or 10 some times on 11 etc. The house edge must be well over 5% with this kind of play :eek2:

I watched the show "The Casino" on TV last night where this high roller was having a "bad run". He split 10's against a dealer 10 and did not hit a 12 to a dealer 10 etc. I was happy to see him lose just like when a smoker sits next to me, I always mojo them to the point that they are broke and have to pick up butts on the street for their next fix.

That is the way most players play.

That is why I stress basic strategy so much on my site. It barely helps though - people read about it, even copy it and keep it around and then trust their "intuition" on how each hand will play out.

It is why casinos make so much money. It is why affiliates who do not educate about strategy on their sites make a lot more money than those who do.

Contrary to popular belief, bad play by others at your table does not effect the expected value of your hand. Sometimes their bad play causes you to lose, sometime it causes you to win hands that you would have lost otherwise, people just tend not to notice the latter. Individual hands are affected, but the average effect is exactly 0. Cards are not marked on the back "dealer's bust card, please do not take", in the above example, the 1st card could have been a low card and a 2nd card a 10.
