Time for a serious discussion. After all, the fate of a nation may rest in the balance. I am constantly being bombarded by the liberal press about CHANGE. Obama's campaign is all about CHANGE. Great. Would someone kindly explain, specifically, what changes Mr. Obama proposes to make? And, for any change that requires money (e.g. health insurance for all), how does he propose to pay for it?

That's president Obama...

Look at youtube for his acceptance speech at the DNC, he outlines how he's going to pay for everything. Or democrats.org

So what does McCain offer? Other than tax cuts for the already wealthy.

The same McCain that doesn't even know how many houses he owns or what kind of car he drives.

I think what voters need to do is to read the platforms that are offered by both parties, and decide which one you can identify with:

Democrats

I think a lot of it is how you connect yourself to the agenda, and then go from there.

Lest we forget, what is also crucial in this election is selecting who is representing YOUR district and State. A full list can be located here:

I have this idea that voters should be required to write an essay explaining their choice, and if the best reason you can come up with to vote for X is that "I have always voted X, my father always voted X, my grandfather always voted X", then you are disqualified.

but thats not the american way or right, we have that choice here and thats what makes us a great nation imo, we can differ on who we think should lead our country with our friends and families but in the end we remain one nation undivided, every voting american has a voice and those that dont vote or voice their opinions should never complain about the state of the country, its not whether you vote dem. ind. or rep. its your right and your duty as an american to vote and try to make this a better country for those in the future....................laurie:)

I agree with that thinking , I really do BUT...it never works. They said that 50 years ago and this day today is the future from 50 yrs ago yet its not better, its worse. Every generation says "your vote makes a difference" well, mine didnt 2 elections ago along with tons of other ppl. They want you to think you have a vote and a right but yet dont see anything happening. Then you see a country like England who has (or had atleast not long ago) one of the lowest crime rates, least amount of guns, full health care for everyone along with prescriptions. Yes, countries like England, France, Italy may pay higher taxes while we all whine about ours but Id rather pay the higher taxes and get all of those benefits other countries are getting. My God, France not only pays your medical but when you leave the hospital , they make sure you have a ride, a meal and place to stay. If you dont they pay for it to make sure you get home ok. They give their people 6 weeks paid vacation a year, they pay for time off if you get married or move. THey pay all medical.,dental, hospital and even a daycare provider. Did you know they even bring in a person to do laundry , clean and cook you a meal twice a week if both husband and wife work and have kids to give the parents a break?

I could go on forever but I wont. I just believe it doesnt matter what we want because in the end, the President goes with whatever is going to benefit him in the long run. Infact, they already know who the winner is ,just like the emmy awards and everything else we think we have a vote on

SIGH!!!!!

Come on, Babs, you aren't serious, are you???

You had better do some more research before you post stuff like this! Look at the "quality of life" for these folks in these countries you are applauding. I do not believe for one second you would like to live like these folks do in these countries you are so approving of. You live like royalty compared to the people you are talking about, believe me. Or not. Do some research!!!

The money for change? How are we going to pay for change? The same way we are paying for the war in Iraq and Afghanistan:rolleyes:

I'll give you an answer...How about he pays for it by just using one tenth of the wasted Foreign Aid dollars that the government fleeces from US Taxpayers everyday and instead of sending all of this money to corrupt foreign governments we start using it to take care of our own damn people !!

Since World War II the United States has spent way over $1 trillion dollars on foreign aid. The result is debt, dependency and poverty. These stats come from the Cato Institute...;)

Jod? How long did you live in England, Italy and France to know that they dont live as well as we do? I have a cousin who lives in England and loves it, My neice lived in France for a year and didnt want to come home and I have family that have been living in Italy for over 80 years and they are very happy and healthy.

I love when people take things out of context. I never said any country lives better nor did I say that I didnt love living in America. All I said was that those countries are well taken care of health wise and given alot of help

Aim not the type of person that talks about Politics or Religion
All I can say is who ever you put in office they are full of crap.
All big talk now before we all vote.I am a democrats Whip Tee Doo but that don't mean I will go that way.

i do not vote anymore. we live in a "me first" money driven society. not a democracy. the people in power look out for their best interests as they always have. that is true for all forms of government. there are 300 million people in this country. far too many to keep happy. you have two men trying to win a title that really means nothing when you come right down to it. the president certainly doesnt run the country. i think we all know that. the issues they debate over now are cookie cut issues that every single candidate has always debated over and nothing ever gets done. abortion. no abortion. higher taxes, no taxes. inflation, recession, health care. please... at the end of the day the president and his buddys are all smokin expensive cigars and laughing at the masses. the society we live in demands answers even if they dont exist. that is our fault. there is no common sense anymore. only blame. turn on the news and every single aspect of every single issue is disected to pieces. why? we need answers. problem is there are none and no one wants to accept that. we can not all live in harmony. it is against our nature. we can not all have a slice of the american pie. there is too much to be lost by the folks who have the biggest piece. very sad but true.

Think I will just take a drive up the road to Kentucky and gamble online on election day cause Obama just ain't my dig.

Really wanted to understand the latest $700 BILLION bailout as more to go but I guess I will have to check with Larry,Curly and Moe for the real low down. Is she for real?...:what:TF,:what:TF

I don't believe Obama is campaigning on that idea, albeit a good one. This thread has been open for 2 weeks and not a single legitimate response.

No offense but this is the typical liberal non-answer.
I don't think so.

The point is, that money can be found to wage a war for Haliburton oil profits in Iraq, what is it now... $10 Billion a month we are spending on this war and Haliburton no longer even pays American taxes and ships all the Iraqi oil to China (Haliburton is now a Dubai company)...

But we can't find the money to improve our country??? WTF is that about?

I'm going to vote... I earned the right...
For those of you that were given the right to vote by the lives and blood of others and choose not to.
In my opinion this is disrespect of the highest form for the many that have fought and died for you to have that right handed to you.

i posted a while back on why i dont vote. i disagree that is an insult to veterans. veterans are a favorite charity of mine as my dad served(missle crisis) and two uncles (ww2). one army. injured in combat, lost a lung, one navy. served on the ingersoll dd652. soldiers fight wars that politicians cant fight themselves. they do now and will always have my respect. although i dont agree with your opinion i do respect it is your free right to voice it. that is what i believe our soldiers fight for or, at least, would like to believe. the fact that they die for big business is more spot on but that is a discussion for another time.:)

With all due respect (and I'm for real) deciding not to vote is IMO un-american. I've never been one to push my views on others, but that is like the only friggen thing we all actally have as a way to voice our opinion.

Please do not take offense to my post because I'm not being liberal, democrat, republican or anything but Robin. It hurts me to see that things are so out of wack that folks don't even want to vote.

I'll leave this thread now because like I said I'm not here to bash anyone personally, but to just state my opinion. I've never talked about race, politics or religion before, but I just can't sit around silently while our country goes to hell. We are better than this!
