I've been wondering for a long time now, so decided to ask!

Where do you guys like Slotster, Simmo, Robwin, Mitch, Bing, Metaxa, Mr.Van, etc.. get your gambling money from?

Please only vote in the poll if you ARE a high-roller - not just if you aspire to be one (like I do! )

High-roller = regularly play cards > 50 credits/hand, Slots > 2.50/spin etc...

Hmm I'm a bit of an anomaly here. I am not what I would term a high-roller. For one, I play in $ so that effectively looks higher. Secondly, I tend to play quick and big. IE: If i have $200 I play 10 spins at $6.75 then maybe 10 at $9 and if i win 10 at $11.25. Like today I hit 5 hammers with kicker at $9 so I played it out at $11.25 or $13.50. But I wouldn't have if I hadn't won. I spent the last week in my few sessions playing at $2.70 or $3.60 max.

So my sessions are generally short unless I win. Thats why you rarely see sereenshots from me but when you do they are generally big (or lucky like that Keno one which was off a £2 bet).

I probably only play on 5 or 6 days a month as a result. Although as an affiliate I tend to use any income from that as my gambling money or sometimes casinos give me a lump to use to write up reviews etc. Not generally big - sort of bonus size. I've been self employed for the past 10 years or so in other fields.

My situation is very similar to Simmo's. I am a very small time affiliate which bankrolls my play, and also deposit a couple times per month (only Microgaming casinos). I only raise my bets for short periods of time (and count the spins).

Though my official answer is I have been using Monopoly money since the very beginning :D

easy -

I wait for my husband to pass out after his weekly dart league binge at the local watering hole and then I do his laundry. What I find in his pockets is finders keepers. I've tried my darndest to get him out of the house more often but he refuses. :D

Money

I tend to move money around alot, and take most of the good promotions.
My large bets tend to follow a big cashin from a previous session.
My slot bets are normally at the lower end of the high rolling scale, with occasional burst to double figures (10+ per spin). Mostly, it is around 2 to 5 per spin, but less if I am playing in a wager tournament, where I now change stake, coin, and coins per line regularly through play (in a vain hope of confusing the slot not to die on me:D )

My usual VP bet is 20 to 62.5 per hand, the higher reserved for the 50 Hand games. Occasinonally, I have gone all the way at 125 per hand in the multi-hand games, and this has paid off on many occasions, such as pat AAAA on 125 Aces and Faces, and a few 4 to a RF on 125 hands, one netting 5xRF for over 10,000
This leads to a short spell of trying a few big spins on slots, but I have to be careful!
My biggest bets ever have been on 3-Card Poker, at up to 300 per hand, however this was due to getting a really good streak when first trying the game, and I know better than to do this now!!

I wouldn't classify 2.50 as high rolling!

IMO, high rolling is anything from 10.00 or above.

Low rolling is anything under 1.00. Anything else is pretty much standard.

Personally, I find my funds from borrowing, stealing and mugging. Oh, and my mum - God bless her.

Nah, not really. I get commission from my work, so the harder I work the harder I play!!! :D

I don't think I'm a high roller either! Only ever upping the bets to the 9 and above mark when I'm on a roll! Very much generally around the 4.50 mark on a regular basis.

Although I suppose that's more in dollars, and I only ever play at Roxy Palace in dollars - the rest GBP.

I'm rubbish at gambling so it's certainly not self funding... Similar to Cheeky, the harder I work - the harder I play :D

Although I earn bucks from affiliate accounts, that's not a huge amount. All my funds come from my other main business web development & throw offs from that.

My monthly income fluctuates, as a rule I tend to set aside 25% of my main business monthly income for gambling. Most of my affiliate money goes towards gambling also, but I consider that as my pin money anyway.

I'm not a high-roller by any means, though if I'm winning & winning welll , I've upped my slot bets to $22.50 a spin, but most times I sit @ $2.25 - $4.50 a spin.

Cheers

hundreds of thousands, maybe more, played over the years mostly at b&m casinos. not a big spender online. made enough as an athlete to have plenty of throw away money. family first, then charity, then piss away plenty has always been my motto.

 Thanks for that!

And thanks for all the other replies too - interesting stuff!

I don't consider myself a high roller, but I have gone as high as £400 per hand of BJ with sticky/clearplay bonuses. In such instances, I increased bet size for a few bets because it was to my advantage. It usually paid off. My gambling funds come from previous winnings.

High Roller vs Low Roller, To me I think it is relative to the Individual Gambler. I do not really consider myself a High roller but could understand how someone else would consider me a High Roller based on their own relative conservativeness. When I win early, I start betting it up big to see what happens.."No Big Risks = No Big Riches"

I personally have reached a point in my life now at the ripe old age of 46 as to where I don't really have many bills and obligations so I tend to have a quite substantial discretionary income available to play with. I have worked hard over the years in the construction business starting out as a laborer at age 18 and eventually working my way up to an executive officer with six figure plus salary plus cushy perks. :D

One of the great benefits I have in my position where I work is the fact that my employer does an annual profit sharing contribution that equates to approx. 25% plus or minus of my annual salary deposited into my retirement account.....so I don't have to worry about funding my retirement myself....which leaves me even more discretionary income available to play with....Thanks Boss !! :notworthy

Thanks for asking KK

I personally never wagered more than £100 on occasions at BJ so am not really a high roller. I fund my gumbling from prostituting myself with bonuses hence i've been labeld a bonus "whore";)

I don't really see any high rollers in these thread and I thought there are some among us. You can't call someone a high roller if he bets £100 a hand. That's just medium volume of play.

Is anyone here who has the cash and the credit to turn off casinos lights? I mean the power to bet 1k+ a hand at BJ,£45 a spin etc.

I bet the casino max on BJ as a matter of course.

My biggest one hand bet on BJ was 7,500 ($14,000). Lost!!

My betting is still based on bonuses. I now generate big bonuses. When someone gives me a match bonus of 1500 I will bet big .

When I first started playing with bonuses I bet appropriate to the bonus (5 - 10 etc). I used to gamble at dozens of casinos every month. I don't like gambling and get no thrill from it. It was just the money.

When I had built up a decent pot of money I bet bigger, to get the WR over swifter.

This caused the bonus offers to increase and a virtuous circle was born!

I was poor as a child but have been reasonably well off for most of my adult life, good career, good investments, child privately educated etc. Not ultra rich but comfortable.

Yes, I suppose I am considered a high roller and I have turned over many millions of pounds in this year alone.
I get huge bonus offers and lots of other VIP goodies as a result. (10,000 World Cup trip in June for example)
A casino will sponsor a match for my football team, in my name, in the next few weeks. ( That's twice in a year!)

Since the World Cup trip I am up about 20,000, even though I have taken some big hits in the last few weeks.

I only play 3 casinos now and this is going to reduce to just one in the next few weeks.
Why? One casino used to offer me about 600 a month but has offered me nothing for the last 2 months. Another was offering me about 1500 a month but has only offered about 700 a month for the last couple of months. If the big offers dry up I will retire and will not look back.

The last few years have been extraordinary. I knew when I started I would win money assuming fair play and willpower.

However, I am so bored I know I am near the end of this part of my life.

Lets be honest, gambling ruins many lives and society would be better off without it.

So KK, you can be a "high roller" if you want to be, you know how to do it, but I can assure you that it will not transform your life.

Live for life, not gambling. I got 100 times more satisfaction from my daughter winning a place at Oxford to read Law than from winning 15,000 in a session of gambling!

Oxford? Nice.

Like aka and kostas (and mitch, but not as much) I do most of my online gaming is chasing bonuses. When dealing with sticky bonuses and clearing WR's, this tends to lead to big bets. However, I've been reticent to really bomb some of these bonuses in a big way. I think my max bet on a single hand of BJ so far has been about $250.

My "seed money" came from two choices. One is my job of course. The other is a bunch of random cash that I generated by applying for basically every credit card and bank account promotion that exists over a one-month period. (thanks

!) This ended up being a few grand of highly disposable money. (Note: I'm floating a lot of 0% credit card debt to generate interest income, but it's all stored in a seperate bank account, which I will not gamble)

Incidentally, I'm also a novice card counter, but when I'm in a real-life casino handling cold hard cash, bankroll (and fear) keeps me from betting more than $50. :)

I think being a high-roller could transform my life - but it could be in either direction which I why I'm scared to take the next step.
I hate losing so much it hurts!

But I know where you're coming from with the 'taking over your life' bit. Because I really really low-roll I found myself with so many unfinished WR's at the end of September that it took me 6 evenings of about 5 hours gambling each to clear them all! :eek2:
(Only just finished them on Oct-7th!)

Anyway Mitch, I sincerely hope that's not your last post here. You can always pop in & comment - you don't have to be a gambler to do that!

Cheers matey!
