The English Harbour Group of Casinos (all 7 of them) are offering a promotion to help out the devistated folks in Haiti.

They will match 50% of vip points earned by the player for donations to Haiti for the next week.

In addition if a player wants to contribute more of their VIP points to Haiti they will also do that for you.

This is a win win situation for both the casino and Haiti. The casino should attract some additional betting and Haiti gets some cash.

Good Job English Harbour Group!! :notworthy

Tacky TACKY Tacky tacky --- I don't think this is truly appropriate.

Think about it - WHAT IS HARBOR giving away really?

Sounds like an advertising piggyback on a catastrophe.

You hit the nail on the head with the above statement (bolded)
it does sound like a tacky marketing plan to get people to play at there casino, what happened to just making a donation without all the BS

Well, I don't agree that it is tacky. They have players that play and earn VIP points, and they are offering a very generous match to aid the victims of Haiti.

Every little bit helps this devestated country, and I don't think any business that offers additional help should be slammed.

Thanks Jaz
I applaud any casino that at least recognizes the needs in Haiti. Sure it's in their best interest to promote giving from a marketing perspective but so what! The Haitians still win. People can call it tacky but when I see children and babies with broken bones not set for days I just don't give a damn if it's tacky as long as they get help.

OK Maybe I'm wrong... But bare with me on this ok?

The Casino is not providing ANY monetary "value" to this.

VIP points do NOT cost the casino anything to "create" - correct?

Is the casino creating a promo using the "implied" value of something that isn't monetary - in order to create MORE play - in order to round up more "implied" value of something that isn't monetary - to give something to people.

In otherwords - PLAY WITH US AND WE'LL DONATE... Get more playthrough and you will get more VIP points - so please - feel free to keep depositing to get more VIP points to donate.

Oh - and by the way - if you want to give more of these "implied"value things away - feel free to DEPOSIT more to make more of them - OK?

I don't like it because it's not straight forward donating - like HERE on CasinoMeister - and it appears to be a Promotion to Deposit - and not something for Relief.

MAYBE - I'm wrong????

I dunno - it just hit me wrong.

I don't play there - and maybe I'm missing what VIP points are... But aren't they kinda like what you get for Playthrough or Depositing?

It doesn't seem like charity. It seems like Promotion to me.

Maybe I'm just not getting it - because I don't know what VIP points are exactly... OK?

VIP points are comp points. They have a cash value, and the casino is offering to MATCH at a rate of 50 percent those points earned. This will be a cash donation from the casino's coffers to aid Haitian relief, costing the player nothing from their end. They are also allowing players to donate their points to the fund instead of cashing them out.

I'm not familiar totally with EH's VIP scheme as to how many points are earned for play, but I know that even as a low roller at other casinos I might earn as much as $10 or more in a week of online play, depending on how my luck is running.

Sure, the casino will undoubtedly receive some benefit from this in terms of tax breaks, good publicity, and possibly even increased play from players. But the bottom line is that they are still donating money they do not have to to a country and people that desperately need aid.

Not a great deal different than the hairdresser offering $1 donation for every haircut. Perhaps I will choose that hairdresser over another because of it, but I was going to get a haircut anyway, and if it is my regular salon, I was going there anyway.

Hope that clarifies why I applaud English Harbour's initiative.

Heres an idea, why dont you just take what you will be depositing at EH and donate it to casinomeisters fund, that way it will earn double,
pokerstars are doing the same, they will match any donation,

OK - so let's say this:

English Harbor has 50 games - right?

So - they set each of those 50 games a percentage lower on payouts... Not that YOU the Player will notice --- will just seem a WEEE bt lower...

So you're not earning points at the rate you would earn them...

CASINO HAS TO PAY THOSE POINTS OUT ANYWAY...

So uhmmm ...

The analogy is that the Hairdresser is now:

****Offering to PAY HALF YOUR TIP
and

***Half of your soda purchases to the fund because you're going to HAVE to buy a soda.

*****Oh and the hairdresser is UPPING the PRICE of your HAIRCUT a few bucks to make sure they don't miss out on the tips...

and

****The cost of sodas just went up 2 bucks instead of 50 cents.

I mean ---- ok - check this out.... The Casino is going to give some money away --- YAY...

HAITI is gonna get some money --- YAY!!!

In fact - let me start my OWN promotion - EVERYONE PLEASE STEP RIGHT UP!!!!

WagerWitch is Sending Relief Money to Haiti!

Send me a Million Bucks and I promise 20 bucks will go to Haiti!!!!

So laud me for my effort to send some money to a severe catastrophe - ok?

*grin*

Actually - I'm glad money is going to Haiti - no matter how much... But I think that Casino Coins is jacking a situation and making a profit from it.

Sorry guys - I just have odd opinions some times... and sorry - again - I AM GLAD money is going to what I believe is a country that needs help.

You know, I'm not really sure what to make of these types of promos. But I think, in a way, that I sort of agree with WagerWitch.

If people want to donate to a charitable organization that benefits Haiti, I really think that should be done directly and not via a promotion at a casino, that in the long run nets the casino a profit. The EH thing is similar to what Ruby Royal is doing here:

http://www.casinomeister.com/forums/online-casinos/35852-ruby-royal-does-its-bit-haiti-victims-please-join.html

So they encourage people to deposit $50 to claim a $50 free chip, of which only $10 actually goes to where it's needed most. The other $40 is profit for the casino, made from deposits they might normally have not otherwise received.

What Calvin Ayre is doing is completely different. He's not asking anyone to play at Bodog to take advantage of his offer...he's simply offering to match dollar for dollar any donation made through this site. He's not profiting in any way from this...short of some good publicity obviously. But he's not SOLICITING deposits. And that's where my problem lies.

Keep winning this amount.

Sort of like when the Virtual group ran the 9/11 promos back in 2007. The difference in their promos is that NO MONEY went to any 9/11 fund of any kind.

Exactly Win!! That Virtual thing crossed my mind as well, and you're right...I don't see any difference beyond the one you've highlighted. No one should be making a profit off a tragedy. That's JMO....to each his own.

ROFLMAO....

WHAT - WHAT - WHAT --- No one is going to send me a MILLION dollars?

Seriously - you send me a Million Dollars - I'll gladly and VALIANTLY - an HONESTLY send 20.00 for EVERY Million sent to me - Not a problem.

Haiti will get some money - and I'll get some money - and WOOHOOO!

But most of all - the more that deposit to ME - the MORE money Haiti will get!

YAY

An ALL AROUND WIN for Me and HAITI - don'tcha think?

I like what Calvin Ayre is doing here.

But then I really really like Calvin - and was really pissed when he stopped being so prominent in BoDog - and am glad he's back.

He's the freaking difference at BoDog - and hopefully he WILL listen to someone like me - about the effects of customer service.

Cause when he stopped being a main person involved - well let's just say - Ayre's has the ABILITY to make the online Casino industry STRAIGHT.

I'm hoping he does - but we'll see.

So dangit everyone send me a Million -- OK?

LMAO!

Love you all.
