Hi,

Probably only pertains to U.S. residents, but, I received notice yesterday that Visa was not going to allow transactions including debit cards as of March 31. Good bye to prepaid cards etc. used to fund our vices. I received notice from First Internet Bank it looks to cover everthing.

Sometimes my Neteller gets low and had been using such, but not any more.
Not sure if Clicktopay or Neteller are be banned.

I doubt the check based ones such as neteller and others will quit doing casino transactions....I'll have to look for a url regarding this, as I haven't gotten a letter yet, but my bank's just a small credit unlion.

edit: err, banned? how do you mean? Banks stopping neteller transactions? That'd be up to the individual banks, not uniform such as visa/mastercard...

Visa

My reference to neteller and clicktopay was if Visa will allow funding to those sites.

Yes I know you can go through your regular checking account, but that creates an audit trail that I would prefer not to have.

Wouldn't a Visa debit charge leave an audit trail as well?

I use Neteller through my checking, and it is reflected on my monthlies as a Neteller transaction. I would assume that a Visa debit transaction would reflect the same thing.

It depends on the processor they use. Some actually show that it's from a casino in your statement. I'd rather use Neteller.

Whether or not you use Neteller, western union, debit/credit card, etc etc, you're going to have a paper trail.

If you dont want to leave trails send cash in an envelope ;), neteller is public-traded company

Audit Trails

Non U.S. trails are much better than domestic bank audit trails. Neteller is not obligated to provide the info that US banks would. IRS would ask for bank records let us see them get to Neteller records.

As soon as Neteller starts accepting ATM deposits we will have funding via cash in envelopes. I do pull my money out that way.

However international bank laws are getting tougher.

Plus I don't have to to explain to my wife the cash that flows to and from my Neteller account, mid 6 digits in a year. Maybe I can get it flowing out at that rate some day. (doubt it though)

Buck,

From my understanding, the IRS would not ask Neteller to produce records of your account activities, they would order you to provide these documents to them.

I've been debating on whether or not to reply to this paragraph, and decided I will. Only take this as insight on your situation. I'm not telling you what to do....take it as you wish.

But look at the moral issue here. Deception is the worst thing that can happen to a marriage.

Some would say gambling itself is immoral.

Are you sure this letter wasn't just saying your bank isn't going to allow the visa transactions for gaming? I just used my visa debit card last week without any problem.

For the first time in 3 years my prepaid Netspend card isn't working at any MG casino. I was afraid this might be the problem !

PPATM has become useless IMO. There are very few casinos that even use this service any longer and I can now understand why. They no longer have an ATM service and if you happen to have any money in your account it takes forever for them to send you a check. If and when I finally get the check from them I plan to close my account with PPATM.

When making a deposit via a CC or debit Visa/MasterCard there is a universal generic four digit code (MCC) that the merchant sends which identifies the type of business it conducts.

In the case of online gambling the Merchant Category Code is 7995:

Category: Entertainment
Description: Betting

This affects US players as not only will casinos, sports book, bingo and other gambling sites be a no go zone for your CC or debit card, but it will also prevent you using them at Web Wallets ect ect ect.

Some gambling venues may risk running the gauntlet, however, if caught they will be heavily fined or their Visa/MasterCard merchant account is pulled.

This explains why some of those Russian casinos and others are still able to process transaction via Pay Pal and your CC. They declare a fraudulent MCC.

Not sure how or if this affect Diners Club or American express but at a guess; and in the case of US players, I'd say it would.

The alternatives for now are Bank Wires to Neteller or using ECO cash which accepts WU and Money Gram.

However, knowing the "industry" I'm sure they are working away as we speak on alternative methods to circumnavigate this issue for US players.

It's true, I have had every deposit I have attempted rejected lately with my visa debit/ATM card. Microgaming as well. It would appear that the do gooders in the USA have won the battle without even having to settle the legality issue of online gaming. The only place I am able to deposit now is at Bodog with their instant check deposit feature. (creates a debit right out of the checking account). Hate to sound defeatist, but the good times in the USA are over. They got us.

Amex does not allow the use of Amex cards for online gambling.

Does anyone out there know of any other sites besides Bodog that offer the Instant Check deposit method??

US based CC deposits

Unsure why Party Poker seems to be the only one that has linked a provider of prepaid phone cards that can be utilized as deposits at PP. Unsure if Party Casino is lined up as such. About a 6% fee, but cash in minutes.

Best alternative is to use Neteller and ACH deposits from bank account, free but takes 4-5 business days.

I use to fund neteller via CC but my bank stopped allowing that months ago.

(Opps, I am admitting that my withdrawls do not exceed my deposits at most casinos. If they did the casinos would stop that also. Go Figure)

I'm sure that pre 2001 (or around that circa) Amex was accepted. As I've not held an Amex for close on 10 years I was merely voicing a generalisation.

Funding neteller account from bank account change country to country. In some countries it takes 2 hours, and some of them about 5 days.

So if time is less in your country, you can try depositing neteller from you bank account.

Thats odd. I used my prepaid Netspend card at 2 different casinos today without a problem (one RTG and one MG). Which casino are you having a problem at?
