I know VS offer more comps etc than any other casino on here but they do get plenty of traffic to their site as a result - the comps have been pretty shambolic of late and I was on the end of of that but this has to be the worst for a regular contributor to CM, to be done out of the winning package to Malta, by a newbie who merely joined to win and then scarpered.

My take on this.

Yes VS made the mistake of running the comp for anyone to win and not regular members. Maybe they just never thought at the time someone would sign up here just to enter and win.

But mistakes happen. Good luck to the winners. Maybe morally wrong but they took advantage of the situation and won a great prize.

But after VS had posted the comp there was nothing they could do about giving a prize to someone that maybe never deserved it. After all it was only a couple of weeks ago they were getting slaughtered for amending competitions after the start. Can't have it both ways.

At the end of the day, no matter how I feel I respect that it is VS decision and generosity here.

It is just hard to take when a winner clearly doesn’t play in the spirit of our community and gets such a marvellous prize.

Not to mention he made a couple of bets at just over £8. Hit big then spun the remaining 245 spins at minimum bet to complete the task. So not only a massive prize from here but a nice balance too.

Shows me that this is perhaps why playing honestly for 15 years has made me poorer.

There lies the problem though, the rules are open to interpretation dependent on who reads them and how they opt to interpret them - you are right though by the letter of the law his screenshot should never have been accepted.

I do feel sorry for the team at VS at times though and maybe they should take a leaf out of Dan's book of rules, basic yes but we never had any crossed wires, well not that I recollect.

The winner had just created the account when he posted the win, as he came up as the latest member, if the games were played before the account here was made (which from the times on the ss it looks like they were) then clearly he wasn't a member as per the rules. Shame Videoslots haven't answered that question.

Going forward, an easy caveat of

20 plus posts prior to contest posting is a good measure.

I agree that this didn't start without hickups. The Malta package winner joined here on Friday just for the comp and most likely because they knew they had a winner in their hands. It's pretty insulting to members here that @Ogreme seems to have no interest to take part in the community and just did a hit and run.

On the other hand, @Team.Videoslots did take note on the feedback and agreed to change the rules for the forthcoming comps. To be fair, since the rules at the start were somewhat ambiguous ("To take part you need to have a Casinomeister account." and "Only screenshots posted in this thread will be valid for the competition."), maybe @Ogreme should have been disqualified. Then again, how would it feel if a similar thing happened to a seasoned CM member (getting disqualified because the rules left room for interpretation)?

But do we need to be so strict towards operators who run CM special comps here? Granted this specialty was diluted here because of the outcome, but still it's pretty awesome these comps are being held on the forum quite regularly.

I remember being in a similar position back in 2004 or 2005 (I think ) when 32 Red had a members only poker tournament and I didn't qualify to play because I had just joined and didn't have the needed post count to enter. But I stayed and had the chance to enter the next one.

Minimun account age + modest post count is a good idea. It has worked well in the past and here it was just left out for the reasons @Team.Videoslots stated. Maybe it shouldn't have, but that's water under the bridge now.

It would be excusable, had it been VideoSlots first CM Exclusive promotion. But they've done plenty previously to know what rules to include

I venture a guess. Ogreme heard about the comp at CM, either from a chat in a battle or by chance and then set out to produce the highest possible RTP. Start the game, do one or a few spins at a higher bet, leave it, reload the game etc.etc. Once you hit big at the beginning, you can lower your bet and run the rest of the spins knowing you will end up with a huge RTP.

So clearly, not in the spirit of our community.

FYI, the last winner where this kind of thing happened, played the SOTS or Wild Turkey (cant remember which slot it was) battle at one line after seeing the VS comp here at CM. Was lucky (have to grant him that) to hit a big win on the 1 line with 25c bet, posted the result and did a runner with the prize, never to be seen again.

Hell, I asked for 3 months membership and / or 30 posts for a AUD50 comp and here we have a prize worth about 2K and there were no preconditions. It is bound to have people taking advantage of it.

If I can make a suggestion team VS

I can see the first prize winner is someone who signed up here for this promotion
the second prize winner is the full member but didn't post anything last two years before this competition
the third prize winner is the newbie, but he/she signed up much before this competition and is very very active member on this forum

So here is my suggestion.
To show you want to make up the mistake you made-this is not exclusive casinommeister competition, this is the competition anyone can join, so it was obviously a mistake from your side to say this is exclusive competition-, why don't you give Malta trip package to the third prize winner too?

I understand you cannot just cancel the prize to the first place winner and give it to the third place winner, so I'm suggesting to give the package to both of them.-I'm pretty sure the second place winner cannot complain-if it is open to everybody he is not the winner anyway, if it is to open to only "active" member, he can't even claim the second place prize, so I guess he is OK with second place prize.

It's just suggestion but I think you need to do something about this instead of just saying "OK, it will be for "active" member only from now on."

I have been lurking this forum for quite some time, but never created an account.
I saw this competition and thought it was an excellent moment for me to sign up.
And I've been playing on Videoslots for a long time before this competition happened.

So I first signed up on the forum, and after that I played my spins, not the other way around, you can check this by the time stamps if you don't believe me.
