Very Big News:
World Games Inc Sponsors Herv Favre in Le Figaro
World Games Inc, the fastest growing online entertainment and gaming provider in the world, have agreed to sponsor up and coming Swiss yachtsman Herv Favre in La Solitaire Afflelou Le Figaro 2004.
Chairman of World Games Inc, Mr. Greg Kennedy, says he is delighted with the sponsorship agreement with Herv.
Mr. Kennedy said: "La Solitaire is one of the most exciting and technically exacting races in the Figaro circuit, itself considered to be the world single handed championship.
"The Figaro is the breeding camp for all the best offshore skippers in the world.
"Like World Games Inc, Herv has proved he is a tough and energetic competitor with a full-time commitment to becoming the world's best," Mr. Kennedy said
Starting from Caen on 23 July, the world's best single handed offshore yachtsmen pit their racing skills, their seamanship, their endurance and their athleticism against intense natural elements and a rigorous 1,476 mile course. The racing is so intensive skippers would be lucky to sleep more than a couple of hours each leg and the competition level is so high that it is not rare to see 30 boats crossing the finish line within an hour of each other after three full days of racing.
With 55 competitors in this year's La Solitaire, Herv is one of 16 first time entrants, not only trying to win outright but also competing for the Newcomer Bnteau trophy.
Though still regarded as a "rooky" solo yachtsman, Herv is becoming a seasoned Figaro campaigner, having achieved 6th place in the demanding Mini Transat 6.50.
All competitors have the same class of boat, the very fast 34 foot long Figaro Bnteau 2, so it's the human factor - the right tactics and the best meteorological appreciation that can make the difference between skippers.
The first leg of the Solitaire Afflelou le Figaro goes from Caen in Normandy, and heads for her sister town, Portsmouth, then to the port of St-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie before stopping over in Gijon to then cross the finish line at Quiberon in Britanny on or about 13 August.
