Hey chaps

I just finished reading "Bringing Down The House", a book on a group of MIT card counters prior to the introduction of the ShuffleMaster (very good IMO). mainly centred around Vegas. Anyhow, I have an Amazon token to spend and wondered if you had any recommendations on Vegas-related books, preferably factual although I read fiction too. Not seen too many films either if people have any recommendations, but I'm more of a bookworm than a film buff.

Any suggestions?

'The Cooler' for a great movie if you haven't seen it. Oceans, Bugsy, leaving, and fear and loathing if you read the book and haven't seen the movie your face might ache like your gut living it again

Positively Fifth Street by James McManus -- more of interest for poker players, but I thought it was a good read. Non-fiction, but not a 'how-to' book. I also bought it on tape for the long drive to the casinos.

Frugal Gambler -- Jean Scott

More Frugal Gambling -- Jean Scott
These are about getting the most from your casino comps. Both are geared more toward VP players. More Frugal Gambling is sort of an updated version of the first, but I wouldn't skip the first one entirely. The differences between the first and the more recent book reveal a lot about how comps have changed over the last few years.

Same goes for Comp City -- Max Rubin.

Beat the Dealer -- Edward O. Thorp
A classic. This is where it all began. Specifics may be outdated, but as a part of card counting history, it is essential reading.
The Mathematics of Gambling -- Edward O. Thorp
Covers several table games and money management. This was published in the 80's I believe.

There's a documentary called "The Hot Shoe" about card-counting. It's really good, and includes interviews with all the giants from the scene. The filmmaker also uses himself and the movie's music budger as a guinea pig experiment in counting. It was surprisingly good.
