US political crisis

Makes me laugh though that it was the US and international corporations that helped china build up it's wealth, reach and power in the first place by relocating all their production plants there. China wants to dominate it's region, but you never know they might have long term global aspirations as well to become the numero uno power.

What's the US going to do, or whether it will be able to function well, when the population is nearly 400 million. The gated communities and private security will come in handy then.

I thought the 80's were a bit worry inducing with the idea a nuclear war could kick off at any minute, but we are now enterering uncharted waters with these new tensions and power struggles, also with declining world resources yet an increasing population. [An extra 83 million people per year currently]

I always wanted to be around to see the exciting future but I'm not so sure that will be as enjoyable or better as I once thought.
Cant resist the extra money they make by outsourcing production to China.
And like you said, its not just Usa doing it, its countries&corporations all over the world.

Who knew the cheap child labour offered by china, would make them into a powerhouse.
But hey, atleast we got cheap Nike's and electronics. :cheerleader:

ffds.gif

The US relationship with China doesn't make any sense to me, I can only think the draw of access to a massive pool of cheap but capable labour was the reason for it. Tucker sums it up well at the end " our leaders made it possible...they abetted it, they betrayed us"

China doesn't look like it's in a rush to become a democracy anytime soon either, imagine what happens if you annoy the chinese govt or even post something mildly uncomplimentary/critical online, you'll soon get a visit from law 'enforcement'

I'm watching Russia and the Ukraine, China and Taiwan as well as Israel and Iran. There is a lot of shit going on right now. As well as America's military movements

Bidens live conference in front of his supporting media journalists. I could not help waiting for the part where Harris had slipped into his notes something that would get her into his shoes asap because he just reads everything

Why are you so disdainful of her. You don’t like successful powerful women?

Why wouldn’t she want to be president? Just like every other Vice President before her.

In another post you mentioned she was actually the one who is in charge.
Do you really think Harris is calling the shots? You’re living in la la land.

Biden’s chief of staff is leading the charge. or who ever else financed his campaign.

she has limited powers.

She is powerful in the sense most of the media cheerlead for her, and won't object when or if she is passed the batton, despite her being pretty unpopular in the latter part of the primaries [once she was exposed to a bit to scrutiny].

Joe should have picked the next most popular candidate regardless of sex, as his health has been in question for quite a while, he might make out the 4 years going at a slow pace [engagements and speeches etc..], physically he doesn't look overly frail, just his memory is going I believe.

No she is powerful because she is the VP of the USA and that means second and if anything happens to the president. She takes over. Do NOT diminish her role as VP. Every VP before we’re just as powerful.

Don’t know why you harp on popularity. She must have done something. The ticket won with 80 million votes.

Forgive me I will not diminish her role or call her that nickname you don't like :p

I was Just going on the primaries when she was trying to attract voters personally, she started off strong [probably with media hype and help] but then tailed off badly.

I suppose if Joe had picked bernie it might have scared many people off, whereas she was suitably mainstream and kind of neutral. Bernie is even older than joe but still a fair bit sharper in the brainstakes I think.

If Kamala Harris becomes the 47th president that itself will diminish the role as she had little chance of achieving that office on her own merit. [imo]

I think they're grooming Kamarla for president, either now or in 2024. She has been the one talking to foreign leaders. Also Joe put her in charge of the border crisis.

That clip the other day of her laughing when asked if she was going to the border. That's gonna be a GOP political ad in 2024 if she runs.

she‘s really not the best speaker.
a lot of people like her.

and of course she will run...

Ha ha ha. Ha ha ha. I can assume that your suggesting that I am a women hater or I dislike women with power? Ha ha ha.

It has nothing to do with her being female. She failed to get a single nomination in the run offs despite being backed to the hilt by the Clinton machine.Despite her failing miserably she was shoed into a position where she could easily become President. The power of the Clintons/Obama.

I think you are mistaken if you thought that I think that she is calling the shots. I think that would be the Clintons and Obama

No I don’t think you’re a woman hater. I think you hate this woman. For no apparent reason it seems other than the fact that she was chosen as a running mate.

running mates for vp do not have to be popular or need to have been nominated for president in the primaries. Tons of VPs who never ran for president got chosen as running mates and became VPs. You keep harping on this fact. It’s not a qualification for the job. Nor does it matter. It’s almost like you’re saying she doesn’t deserve it. Hmmm. That sounds a bit like maybe you think she is unqualified. Go do some research and see who she is. And what she’s done. Doesn’t matter if you agree with her politics. The Biden Harris ticket won. She’s the VP. Point finale.

as for Obama and Clinton’s calling the shots through her. How powerful do you think these ppl are?The people with money are running the show. And these guys just don’t have the money needed to call the shots.

On the VP subject, had anyone ever even heard of Mike Pence before he shared the Trump ticket?
Don’t remember his ability to be VP being called into question, despite the fact he was only ever a heartbeat away from being president at every stage of the last 4 years.

As you appear to know what the qualifications are to become VP tell me what they are then I will check out her credentials

American politics is all about power, money and influence. You are correct that there are people above the Clinton's and Obama, but they do the bidding of the powerful people. A bit like a pyramid Scheme if you like.

Talking of Bill Clinton and Harris. I find it amazing that he and Harris are holding talks about Women's empowerment.

If the election was the safest, most secure in history why would 43 states change voting laws? @7.22 (approximately)

If there was any widespread fraud, why would any Republican state sign off on the results?
If there was widespread fraud, why would Republican judges throw out frivolous lawsuits?
If there was widespread fraud, why would Trump appointees state categorically that there was none?
Why are you still clutching at straws when it is obvious that 80 million American voters decided that Donald J Trump was one of the worst Presidents ever and should not get a second term?

I'm just asking the question, 43 states is a lot.

Republicans are changing them 'cause they can't win with ideas. They have none. They are just anti-immigration and that's it. So they want to make it harder for black people to vote.
Why you think republican ideas are so crappy that they are never supported by the majority? Maybe republicans should stop living in the '60s.

you're missing my point. There are no specific qualifications for VP. He chose her. That’s it. You can just type in her name on google and you can see what her credentials are.

can you explain how this voter suppression process works, how can 1 specific group be targeted?

You made assumptions about what I think about her from the beginning in reply to what was clearly simply a joke.

After saying that you assume many things about what I think you then proceeded to question me as if your assumptions where facts demanding answers to your assumptions.
You are simply wrong in your assumptions.
You are like an attack dog without any teeth

About going after a certain group.
Just make it so people have to take time off work to go vote.
Poor people wont, so if you have a county/area where white or black people make up the majority of the poor people, you can target that group like this.
There are obviously alot of ways to target a certain group.

My assumptions are based on your posts that repeatedly disparage her. And your use of disparaging sexist names for her. Of which I appreciated you apologizing for.

do you always immediately jump on someone who doesn’t agree with you or even remotely says something in a post you don’t like. Just like you did right now. Feels that way. Who is the attack dog.

there are worse things I have been called then an attack dog without teeth. But you are just making noise to make noise.

Thats about as far as i got with my ideas about it aswell.
Seriously cant think of a good reason for making it illegal.

Don't know if this is also einstein level thinking from me but if a long wait is expected, could the voting person waiting in line not bring their own drink bottle and snacks?? ....putting on my deer stalker and puffing on my pipe sherlock holmes style, perhaps there's a carrot angle going on with homeless people promised something to eat/drink if they vote.

How do they manage the toilet angle if required to wait for a long time, that would bother me more. :eek2:

Although we're famous for queuing in the uk, we don't tend to have massive queues outside our polling stations, it's all in and out and over quickly as it were, just need a voter registration card, never seen a computer terminal it's all done by paper in person, though you can apply for a mail vote option.

You specifically assumed that I thought she was "unqualified " for her position then demanded that I point out how she was unqualified. You then went on to say that there are no specific qualifications.
If that is not wanting to argue for the sake of it then I do not know what is
And all based on you jumping to wild conclusions

I did think about that, but wouldnt be very hard to just say "go vote x and ill give you a burger" instead of giving them food while standing in line.
We need to dig deeper.
:P

I barely participate in here (mostly, because I havent the brain capacity to do so lol)
But I happen to think that:

While not a Biden proponent, definitely, in my opinion, better than his predecessor (but surely, in a vast, vast country, there's still smart, educated, younger, better suited men (or women) for the job
Kamala seems bright and well suited,, and while yes, left leaning, holds some decent middle ideology
And love Jen Psaki and enjoy her briefings as I find her clever and articulate

Carry on :P

go back and read your posts.

You are just convoluting the argument with all these accusations you’re throwing at me. Rather comical.

And you’re arguing for arguements sake.

Im gonna move on now.

I actually gave an older man a bottle of water yesterday as it was unseasonably warm.
I was picking up a pizza and he was sitting in the passenger seat of the car behind me eating a sub or sandwich so when I opened my suv tailgate I pulled out a bottle, opened it for him and passed it to him through the car window.

tbh, I don't think he spoke much English but thank me with a nod. I think he was Armenian as that area has a big Armenian population.

could be doped water or food ;) ...stop people you don't like from voting by giving them something dodgy to eat or drink

Water anyone? Yes, yes, I want water. Thankyou so much. Hey I'll also give you this Amazon gift card if you vote for so and so.

This popped up on YT. The Governor said what I was thinking, why can't the polling station hand out water?
Always good to hear the counter.

In this run away reply you said nothing.
Show me the posts that you say show all of the things you accused me of that show the things you accused me of thinking about her.
What accusations have I made against you since you started making accusations and presumptions against me that are not correct?
What is comical?
How am I arguing for arguments sake when you have dictated this conversation since I posted my very simply obvious joke anad I have just been obligated to either reply or be presumed incapable?

The linguistic gymnastics you spout on here never ceases to amaze me...especially since it’s says nothing and it’s just arguing...

In what way? What has Biden done in 100 days in office that makes you feel like he's better than his predecessor?

Why was he so quick to bomb Syria within his 100 days in office?

That was such a great press conference he had where he hand picked who to call on off that sheet he had for questions
and flex his 120 years experience when he came into the Senate.

One of them is actually doing his job helping people.
Other one just played golf and whined about the press.

What did Trump do to help people during his 4 years?

I guess it will be a lot longer before he holds his second presser. He was armed with everything possible to help him out including a room full of press that just threw him underarm softballs.
Contrast that to the baying mob that Trump always faced who where allowed to ask hard questions and the clapping seals in the media who insisted to the public that it was a great performance from the stand.

The governor in that vid made a good point, why are voters having to stand in line for 2-3 hours in democrat run areas, that must suppress the vote itself.
It really does suppress the vote. Kemp has been leading the efforts to close polling places. The same guy as in slotplayer's video. Fewer polling places...longer lines. Also trying to limit early voting so even longer queues when more people try to vote.

Can you tell me why republicans can't come up with any ideas that people actually like? They unanimously opposed the relief bill that had majority support even among the republicans. They'll never do anything about guns. Still no ideas about healthcare. I'm sure Trump still keeps telling that beautiful healthcare plan is coming up in few weeks.
Why are republicans opposed to helping people in any way? They really love throwing money to rich people and to big corporations.

Really? The man spent every press conference avoiding questions, peddling lies, belittling the press and anytime he was asked a hard question he just ignored it and moved on to one of his more favoured reporters who he knew wouldnt push anything awkward his way.
And in his last year in office, the pressers got less and less because it was obvious to all he had completely messed up with Covid and didnt have a clue how to combat it.
So please direct me to one of these hard questions.

If I were in the US I probably wouldn't be an ardent republican, certainly not the rino or establishment kind, I'd be more a tea party/rand paul/thomas massie supporter than mitch mcconnel/ liz cheney/kinzinger. Trump was somewhere between the two.

The dems have a lot of power, in congress, in individual states and obviously the oval office, so they can't keep blaming the republicans for not improving the lot of their supporters [dem voters].

I do not need to go any further than his first press conference as president.
No tick list of press names to call out. No script to read from. No avoiding reporters that may ask awkward questions and a room packed to the rafters.
He answered every question that he could.
