Hi I have just found that ukash can now be purchased in Australia, this is like a pre paid mobile voucher where you purchase a voucher from a retailer and need to add the code and amount to your account and it will be credited.

From what I have read there are no fees, where as if i use my visa debit I am being charged a fee by my web wallet and then a fee by my bank for an overseas transactions.

Id like to here any experiences good or bad before i take a leap into something new..

Thanks Puppy

I like it. I used it to fund my Click2pay account. There is not fee for this but there was a $5.95 fee when i bought $100 voucher.

UKASH has been around in the UK for a number of years, and still the main complaint is people getting hold of these vouchers.

The first thing you have to do is print off the shopkeeper instructions from the UKASH website. If you don't do this it will be nearly impossible to get any, as the shop assitants will either of not heard of it or think it is some scam you are trying to pull on them.

Once you have the print out, look for a shop that has a Paypoint terminal first, this way the shopkeeper only has to scan the barcode, then its easy for them. What I do is ask the shopkeeper "Can I pay this please" rather than ask "Do you do UKASH" (The answer will always be no that way).
On the printout the default setting on the PDF document is 115% Print it out at this, because the barcode will scan fine at this size.

Finally, look for the bigger stores such as Tesco cigarette kiosks, sainsburys, Asda, Spar etc If you go to the smaller newsagents most of these guys just can't be bothered to do it. With yourself living in Australia try places like Woolworths etc

UKASH is poorly marketed, and its customers are expected to do the marketing for them! Any Paypoint, Payzone or E-Pay terminal can process these payments, so when a shopkeeper says he doesn't do it, it just means he has never had one to do before. All 14,000 terminals in the UK have it live now.

You can also deposit straight into Neteller. If you deposit straight into the casino itself, you will run into problems on cashout, and your options may be restricted to cheque only.

Overall it is a good service, but as highlighted above it is still an unknown even in the UK after so many years.

thanks for the replys

Hi and thanks for the replies, I have used it i went and bought $30 worth of vouchers a 10 and a 20 didnt have any problems finding where to purchase them as i went to the ukash site and it states to just put in your postcode and it gave me several close to me.

However when i went to add it to my casino account because my currency is au and i wanted to change it to usd the 20 dollar one wasnt enough so i had to go to the ukash site and change it to one $30.00 voucher which then worked quite easily.

I had already checked with the casino I use as to what there conditions were for withdrawl if using ukash and it was cheque or wire transfer which is my preffered method anyway.

I was planning on using with my click 2 pay but found out the minimum voucher they take is a $50.00 one.

thanks Puppy
