Just wondering if anyone has placed any bets on the outright winner for the Champions League this season? I've gone for Real Madrid to be the first club to retain the trophy. They look that good and the only club I think that stands a chance of de-throning them is Chelsea. I think we can safely wipe Manchester City out of the reckoning after last night!

I don't do these kind of long term bets but I've been following the competition and Real Madrid is one of the top contenders to win it. I see two other clubs that pose a real threat and those would be Chelsea and Bayern München. I'd also rate PSG as a possible contender but so much depends on Zlatan being fit and with his injury problems I wouldn't count on it.

On the other hand I do not see Barcelona having much of a chance this year. They do fine on Spanish league but when they face opponents like the ones mentioned above it quickly becomes apparent that Barcelona's defense is not up for the task.

Looking at the ouright winner odds at the moment I'd go for PSG and Chelsea to win it with small stakes. Real Madrid's and Bayern München's odds are too short for my taste.

Yeah, Barcelona are very much like Manchester City this season playing superbly domestically and below par in Europe.

PSG is a great shout actually! Might actually put a back up bet on them.

Man City still in the competition :p (won't win it though)

I backed Bayern in summer, and so far they've been very impressive. IMO, only Real and Chelsea can stop them this year.

If Messy remains fit till the end of the season, Barcelona can be invincible. I cant stake my money hoping that Chelsea can even make it to the group stage. But Bayern and Juventus must be seriously considered as strong contenders

    Hi!

Thanks for your input but you are replying to a year old post so a tad too late now :)

On the subject of this season's Champions League I again do not see much of a chance for Barcelona even if Messi is fit. Their defense flat out sucks. Chelsea on the other hand looks awful and it's just a matter of time before Mourinho gets the boot if they continue like this. Bayern München and Real Madried on the other hand look really good at the moment but it's a long way to go
