I'm interested in the view of US citizens and how it compares with the rest of the world?

I was born in Seoul South Korea in 1960 to a black soldier and a korean woman. I was abandoned and put up for adoption (adopted by a WHITE family). I have been a citizen of the US for 49 1/2 yrs. Many want to turn their heads and say prejudice does not exist, it does!

One of my earliest memories of racism happened when I was 5 yrs old. My mother loved parades so we went to Binghamton for the annual Veterans day parade. A man standing next to us looked down on me and spate in my face. He told my mother she was a disgrace to white people allowing a slant eyed nigger to reside in her home (sorry!, I would NEVER use those words, but need to make the point), we left the parade...

So, the next time you want to call a person, you DON'T know anything about, a racist, a liar and ignorant, try looking in the mirror...

the wars hit a trillion+ jan 2010 with about 3/4 spent on Iraq. No idea what it is now. Although I heard someone reliable say a few times 2 billion but I can't remember if it was a day or a week. I googled and it is 2 billion a week.

But that's funny, the USA investing in law and order or education or oil independency. This is a capitalist country and money trumps all. Money is more important than human life, more so on the right.

The media and politicians keep the fringe groups (as evident by this thread) fighting over which bilge pump to use while the fucken ship is sinking.

So when Fox or ABC or NBC are owned and controlled by the Communist Chinese Government, or by some other Foreign Born America Hater (Rupert Murdock)... the propaganda they spew that keeps us divided, becomes the main tool to bring us all down.

Slotplayer, you may very well know the exact facts on this, I cannot remember them off hand but I do remember that the USSR got themselves in all kinds of financial trouble because of their afghan war in the 70s and 80s. It had lasted for a long number of years and was costing that govt tons of money and weakening them as a country. Many in our media kinda made light of how stupid they were for caring so much about afhganistan and also for wasting so much money on a "non winnable" war. This is eerily similar IMO. The things we could do with that money regarding our deficit and such..............

That is what some of this is about in Wisconsin with that standoff. Regarding goodwill type of things, American Wealthy contribute much more to charities than their counterparts in other countries. In doing so much goes to churches and overseas to Tsunami victims and starving children rather than as charitable contributions to a school or some such thing. So I don't believe that American wealthy are blind with lust for more money and greed. I think that they give to what charities move them personally. In other countries they stand back and expect the govt to handle it a bit more than taking matters into their own hands via charities and fundraising. Much of this is because some govts just confiscate it already taking the want to be charitable away.

The Politicos that have been telling us for 35+ years that we needed to reduce our dependence on foreign oil, and at the same time capping wells in the USA and passing laws making us more dependant. In other words making "oil men" President after President sure as hell don't help much.

But mostly the blame is on ourselves for not holding those same politicos accountable for not doing what needed to be done whail they were stuffing their pockets full of oil money.

I heard President Obama pretty much runs Google these days but then again I don't believe most of what we hear and see anyway. You have to sort thru it and take it for what it's worth and if the head of the Tea Party made those comments for real I doubt he will be head of anything for long. I don't belong to the party but not because I fear they are all racists. I just feel a little like lots0 in that I agree with some of this and some of that but not all of it in any party. Some say that makes you a wishy-washy moderate but I think it just makes you a little more flexible and we need to be more flexible to get along and make it work. Give me a common sense more down to earth party and I might swear allegiance to it forever. Yeah like that's going to ever happen.

One thing I'm sure of is that every time you repeat the hate word for word someone somewhere will read it and maybe believe it and that just keeps the fire burning when what we really should be doing is anything we can to put that fire out for good.
