stay away from Victor Chandler / Chartwell SD BJ

They were clearly guilty as charged. Refusing the interview is one thing, but taking out a court order to stop the transmission says it all. Good info.

Guilt implies a crime. The article clearly states that there was none committed as the actions were not illegal. They exploited a loophole.

This provides little or no evidence relating to their casino activities.

And don't forget that Coral/Eurobet also use Chartwell, and are considered just as streaky as Victor Chandler's casinos are. It appears that there are lots of people unhappy with Chartwell software while at the same time having made a profit after deduction of bonuses, and continue to play them month after month. These two things are somewhat contradictory and to me the reason for this is as follows:

1. the various VC/Chartwell casinos (as many as 8) offer small monthly bonuses with fairly high wager requirements (typically 25 bonus for 500 WR). Even betting 2/hand, which I consider very low, the standard deviation is 37. Clearly with a bonus of 25, and a 37 standard deviation even at very low stakes, there is a high chance of busting out every month (or else the fairly likely even of losing two or three months in a row, and vowing never to return), and on a month-to-month basis it's almost a toss-up as to whether you will win or lose. When you are losing, software will seem 'streaky', but nobody complains when they are winning.

2. With a small bonus size, the wager size that most people will bet will appear much 'streakier', given that a negative 20 swing only represents 10 losing bets at 2, but is far more significant relative to the bonus (25) than such a swing would be with a 100 bonus

3. the software is quite slow and samey. This increases the pain of losing (which is inevitable sometimes), and you will remember and associate previous losses, as all the casinos appear the same (where as you might not link losses at to Microgaming casinos in the same way)

Again, your losses are pretty disappointing at negative 2 or 3 sds, but apart from people complaining about streakiness (which is inevitable due to small bonus and large wagering - a 100 bonus with 2000 WR is much less streaky than 25 bonus with 500 WR, even with the same software), I have not heard anything of that magnitude to suggest that your results are anything more than a point on a normal curve.

Guilt implies a crime.

Semantics games. A child feels, and looks, guilty when it wets its bed. A child wetting a bed isn't a crime.

VC used insider information to communicate advantageous information in covert manner to people they wanted to be informed. They were subsequently so anxious and embarrassed about the fact when it came to light that not only did they refuse to comment, they tried, and failed, to take out a court order gagging the journalists.

They are clearly guilty of extraordinarilily immoral practice, in an industry which relies heavily on trust. Yes, they were guilty.

Sirius, you are ducking my question:

I was just saying that it was the risk you take with the 20x bonus requirements....I explained that you need to play 7000 hands to be sure of being ahead (to 3SD's) at that 20x bonus requirements level...The 20x bonus equates toyou need to play 7000 hands to be sure that even with extreme bad luck...you can't expect to win with a bonus at 20x level...You only complained because they offered you the monthly bonus

From where are you getting this apparent "information" about me which is in no way publically available?

I have at NO point said anything about anything beyond simple results, yet you appear to believe yourself privvy to information in excess of this. I have made no mention of "bonuses with a 20X..." etc, I've done nothing along the lines of "complaining because they offered the monthly bonus", yet you're posting what you believe to be additional facts about my private affairs.

Where is this coming from? What is your apparent source - misguided, incorrect or otherwise? There are clear privacy issues at stake here which I need to get to the bottom of.

This can be conducted in private (probably should be at this point), but please don't duck the question.

This bonus is awarded automatically each month after you deposit and wager. You can't get out of it unless you withdraw before finishing the wagering requirements which is something you wouldn't do unless you were never going to play there again. It's not a bonus you have to claim. You may have wagered in excess of the requirement but the bonus appears automatically as soon as the requirement is met and is then freely withdrawable.

In addition to that, several other people have reported bad results and only ONE - webmasters Simmo and Sirius excluded - has had anything good to say about Chartwell.

Sorry, but when exactly did i say anything "good" about Chartwell? I was being very careful to avoid committing either way. Maybe Chartwell is fixed, maybe it isn't, but run a sample of 25,000 and show the results and the accusation becomes much more plausible.

My original point was that the thread suggests VC Casino cheats when, if there is an accusation to be made, it should be aimed at Chartwell IMHO.

You have stated that there is no doubt in your mind that Chartwell is "fixed". I was saying is that i don't believe your 2,500 hands constitutes proof and that it's a bold statement.

At any casino you'll find a string of people reporting "bad results". I believe the technical term for that is called "losing" :D

Quite amusing, Simmo, but the people who are complaining about this software have played at an awful lot of casinos, understand variance & don't expect to win all the time. That doesn't stop it being possible to observe that Chartwell BJ plays a very strange game of BJ (& other games, for that matter). I don't know if it's just me, but I find this software every bit as rigged and unnatural when I'm winning as when I'm losing
