This NOT the ASPCA but SPCAInternational. Be warned, I receive mailers from both and they look very similar. The ASPCA is an ok charity (not great, I think they still spend too much on promotions).... but SPCAI is rated F by charitywatch.org for a good reason.

The same woman who was in charge of SPCAI screwed up Noah's Wish's reputation. Some people should be tarred and feathered....

If you truly want the most "bang" for your donation bucks, give to your local SPCA shelters, not the ASPCA. That way you are helping your community pets and giving less to "overhead". For those that don't know, they also accept donations like paper towels, bleach, etc., and usually can use volunteers.

I agree. My donation goes locally, too.

Our county has been building a Humane Society for 20 years. I'm not kidding. They have only opened their little animal shelter in the last year or so. And they're still struggling.

Our shelter is also always in need of the essentials you mentioned... even old blankets and towels and rags (clean of course) are greatly appreciated.

I've asked the ASPCA to remove me from their mailing list more than once... but they keep wasting precious funds sending out those mailers. grrrrrrrr....
