I tend to agree. Slots are the ultimate suckers bet. While I didnt need to hit rock bottom to realize it, it sure cost me a lot.

Slots are designed to be as addictive as possible. When you are sucked in its not that easy to get out. I mean look at this forum, basically flooded with slots addicts. Whatever they admit it or not.

they will not win a random jackpot for sure, so no chance of getting any money back

where as some small slotplayers, only deposit 25 to 50 a month, so thats one thats cheaper, and could potentially even bring in money.

Some people need to dip their feet into the water with baby bets until they feel how the software is behaving. I think the OP is lost to the point that all forms of gambling are supposed to be for entertainment. It's one of the very few forms of entertainment that actually pays for itself from time to time. The only time it's a problem is when people treat it as a means to make money. It's very difficult to actually make money gambling. If it was easy none of us would work and the casinos would eventually go broke.

Now if I make a modest deposit at any given online casino and play for an hour or so, I'm enjoying myself in the comfort of my own home. Yes, I'm paying for it. Yes, I'm probably not going to profit from it. No, I don't consider myself a loser for doing it. Not anymore than I consider myself a loser for renting a movie. The only difference is I've never heard little bells chime and tell me I just won 4000 dollars in the middle of the movie. Would be nice if I did. I'd probably rent a lot more movies.

It would cost me more to go watch a hockey game. (Specially with the 8 dollar pizza slices and the 11 dollar beers.) And I guarantee you at no time will the ref blow the whistle, jump over the boards, climb up the stands and hand me back 10x the cost of my ticket. The money I spend is gone with no chance of a return.

I could go out to a bar instead. That would also cost much more than a night of gambling at an online casino. And although I might get offered something from the cougar at the end of the bar wearing 6 dollars worth of jewelry and 60 dollars worth of make up, it won't be a huge cash win fall.

It's a sad lesson to learn how addicting ANY form of gambling can be. I'm sure I am not the only one who has at some point in time, felt the draw of being suckered in to make one more deposit, chasing that ever elusive win. I took a little break(about a month), uninstalled all the casinos off my computer, and realized how much money I was saving by not playing. I recently reinstalled one RTG casino, and have promised myself to budget my time and money better (so far so good, I just need to remember where the cashout button is located).

To use gambling as a substitute/ crutch for participating in real life activites is not a good thing. I've seen how it can destroy a person's self-esteem. Chasing the "dollar and a dream ideal" can financially ruin a person who is using gambling as a substitute for friendship, motivating imagination, and other self-esteem building habits.

It's a form of entertainment, yes it CAN be very costly! But you have to set your own limits...
How much can you afford?
How much time do you spend at your keyboard clicking spin after spin?
Is it alienating you from your family and friends?
Are you spending more than you would going out on a date?

Some will deny they have a problem, I'm not here to judge you. What may be a problem for one wouldn't even be a drop in the bucket for another. But be honest with yourself, because you are the one who has to live with the choices YOU make... Ultimately, no one else can make the choices for you.


People need to take responsibility for their actions...
In the case of the woman and the coffee from McDonalds...was she really that unintelligent to not realize she had ordered HOT coffee, and that it COULD burn her? Where does the responsibility for her actions lie?
Or how about the young woman who was driving and texting? She failed to notice the cars ahead of her were stopped due to an accident because she was too busy texting her friends. End result, she rear ended a vehicle and the mother and daughter who were in the vehicle died a horrific death. So, where does the responsibility here lie? The cellphone company because they sold her the phone? The car manufacturer because the vehicle the victims were in caught fire when rear ended?
The list goes on and on...

All in all, people need to own up to taking responsibility for their actions. Don't blame the casinos because you can't control yourself. Don't blame society because they "made" you do this...

Slots are what ever we make them. For me they are a distraction from the confinement I am currently living in. No I'm not in jail or prison, but seems that way.
As some already know, I care for my 90 yr old mother in law, 24-7, she has alzheimers and recently broke her hip, which I rehabed her myself after getting her home from the hospital. Okay, so while she was unable to get up and walk, like she did before breaking her hip, I finally had some free time to do other things away from home. However it was short lived, now she can get up but she can't stay up. So I have to watch her like a hawk all day, every day. She is not capable of knowing she cannot walk on her own and she doesn't even know where she is. So my days are spent staying close to her where I can see her, to make sure she doesn't fall again and re-brake her hip, again.
So what do I do? Well for the most part, I paint, scenery mostly, then I play games on the net at Big Fish and Gamehouse, I also listen to a lot of things like Coast to Coast, The Edge and others and when I have a bit of spending money since I can't go out to the B&M, or a movie or hiking with the hubby or fishing with the hubby, I play slots. Sometimes I win, sometimes I lose, but for the distraction, to me it is worth it.
Afterall, I can only clean house, do laundry and the other things just so much, and gambling online is the one thing that is totally unique to anything else I can amuse myself with in a confined lifestyle.
So not being critical to why you think slots are for losers, but we all have our own reasons for doing what we do, just as you do.

And by the way, my slots winnings have paid our property taxes more than once, paid the hubbies credit card off and pre-paid my mother-in-laws funeral expenses. These are all things that my $35 would not be able to do all at once.
