Slot music definitely adds atmosphere and ambience to your experience whilst playing. I'd hazard a guess that this is even more so, at least for me when I've had a few beers.
For example, today after a copious amount of Jack Daniels, I've appreciated the music on slots I wouldn't normally visit, such as Village People Macho Moves, where the aspiration of winning money went out of the window in favour of filling a character's bar in order for the full soundtrack of a 70's iconic track to kick in and have a little boogie with the wife.
Being a classically trained musician, I also appreciated the feature soundtrack to SteamTower which I always rate highly for it's classical-electronic/filmesque drama vibe.
I also visited some classics that will always stand the test of time, one of them being Immortal Romance. Such is the quality of the ambient base game relaxed feel with a slightly melancholy nature, it almost feels like it's appealing to your "I'm going to take your money, so I politely apologise" nature. Good feature soundtracks, and well, if you need a feel for how much I rate the Wild Desire sample, then just give me a ring, as it's my main ringtone.
Jack and the Beanstalk also needs a mention for its quite clever orchestration, particularly the base game sliding wild sample, just enough balance of upbeat innocence, playfulness and cheekiness that a fairytale requires.
Maybe as a musician I appreciate the musical angle of a slot with a more appreciative (and sceptical) eye than others, but there is no doubt with a good set of speaker, buds or headphones that your slot experience can be greatly enhanced if you can see past the stress of just trying to win.
Anybody got any other favourites that they rate highly? Particularly interested in people's favourites that are original compositions/arrangements rather than straight copies of classic pop and rock tunes, but go for it,

Love that you picked up on Immortal. MG spent a lot of time on the soundtrack for this game and I think (I might be wrong) it was the only game they actually made the sound tracks available for download! To this day the Wild Desire music (despite never being that profitable for me) makes the hairs on my back stand on end.

+1 defo on that one Mark

Been a while but nothing beats that soundtrack especially when you hear the drip of blood as the 4th reel turns wild. makes the 'buzz' 10x as good.

@bamberfishcake - The background music to Punk Rocker sounds very much like Blitzkreig Bop by the Ramones

I've always loved ambient music in slots. My favourite in that regard is probably Lights by NetEnt - such a relaxing, peaceful base game sound - I don't mind losing money on that game.

Strangely enough I'm also fond of the overall pleasantness of the sounds on Fruit Shop. The Free Spins background tune is repetitive but it's got that hectic-yet-fun flavour to it, and even the start button press sound is soft and melodic. The whole game presents itself as a friendly entry point into the world of slots; simple, inoffensive and colourful.

The 8-bit style of the music on Flamebusters is also pretty good.

Great idea for a thread

I am weird i normally play slots with the volume of prefer it that way lol.
Yep - you're WEIRD! :p
I can't play slots with no sound - it's just not right man.
EXCEPT - those ones with the terrible plinky-plink sounds which drive you insane - like on Rumple Wildspins.. :puke:

The first slot which sprung to my mind on seeing the question was MG's Tomb Raider 2 - The Secret of the Sword
That was probably the only slot where I would reach for my headphones so I could get the full glory of the sound effects.
Love it!

It is the best soundtrack of any slot ever made, without doubt.
Wild Desire.... heart pumping... Microgaming (pardon the pun) hit the jackpot with that slot.

I play in my home music studio, the sound is incredible.

If anyone has read Addition by Design by Natasha Dow Schüll, it will open up a load of thoughts on how music is used in slot machines online and offline - how it manipulates you and affects your behavior. It's a fascinating read. Even with me, there are some old slots - don't even know if they still exist - old Wagerlogic and Microgaming games that I played in the early 2000s - those sounds and theme music kick in the Dopamine and I wanna play those games LOL. Reminds me of the summer of 2001 when we had a massive heat wave and I had to go down to the cool basement to play them down there.

Actually, the biggest part of slots have an awful music. I like playing slots with classic casino or poker music. It creates some special atmosphere inside the room and I'm really feel I'm playing in Vegas or Monaco as in old times before corona :D
That's my favourite compilation for playing casino with slot's sound switched off ofc.
