I'm kinda surprised that I'm the first person to mention this (afaik), but does anyone have any idea what's up with Sheriff Gaming, now Blue Gem Gaming.

All their slots have been pulled from, well, everywhere I play - that's for sure (Tropezia, ComeOn, VideoSlots.com) and the explanations for why just don't make sense to me.

For instance, Tropezia pulled them a few days back and put up a post in their news section saying that "Blue Gem Gaming is doing some maintenance...and games are temporarily unavailable". Yet when I looked at the same news post today, it had been changed to "Blue Gem games are currently not available".

I'm of course aware of the issues Sheriff had with a police investigation, but am wondering what's going on here. They've got some good slots (Las Vegas Fever, The Amsterdam MasterPlan and others) and I'd hate to see them disappear forever.

I heard this:

Sheriff went under. The development team from Sheriff set up Blue Gem Gaming to buy the games but as a consequence the licensing deals with operators have to change (and possibly the game certifications) and until then they have to be taken down. Can't give you timescales though.

Thanks, Simmo. That does make sense, although all the changing stories and misinformation doesn't do anyone any favours. It makes a fairly straightforward situation look very dodgy.

I've had personal experience of Sheriff Gaming being economical with the truth back when the Dutch police action against individuals - at least one known to be involved in Sheriff - unfolded. Sheriff repeatedly denied involvement, yet there must be evidence to the contrary because Alderney pulled their licensing and the company has since apparently folded, to be replaced with Blue Gem.

Whether this is truly just a bunch of former Sheriff guys trying to make a living....or whether it's something more sinister and still involves key Sheriff management people...is open to conjecture.

I agree that Simmo's explanation of why the games are currently unavailable is the most likely.

Here's the official Blue Gem press release:

Blue Gem Gaming launches in the gaming sector
7 March 2014

(PRESS RELEASE) -- Blue Gem Gaming has today announced that it has officially launched within the B2B gaming space. Licensed in Curacao, Blue Gem Gaming is a games platform offering state of the art, 3D casino games including progressive and classic slots, mobile and table games, video poker, keno and scratch cards.

The portfolio includes popular games such as “The Amsterdam Masterplan”, “Spartania” and “Dr. Magoo's Adventure” which will be familiar to many as they were previously available via the Sheriff Gaming platform. The group behind Blue Gem Gaming is the development team that originally created the games and exclusively licensed its IP to Sheriff Gaming whilst the company was trading.

Earlier this year, Blue Gem Gaming launched an independent platform that would enable the team to continue creating and licensing innovative games, harnessing the 3D technology that has engaged players around the world. A Spokesperson on behalf of Blue Gem Gaming said, “We are really excited to be positioning our team at the forefront of 3D game development within the online gaming industry. Over the last few years, we have worked incredibly hard to provide cutting edge games and we want to continue exceeding expectations within this field.

The most precious commodity we have is our IP and we want to take this opportunity to let our partners know that we can be relied upon and trusted to work with them to create games that will engage with their players. This includes working closely with customers to help design and implement tailored promotions that will acquire and retain players. We are a small company that has until now remained in the background, however we are a team with a huge appetite for game development and we are very excited about our plans for our future.”

Apart from the political side of this story, I find it incredible that they can keep on calling their games "3D" when they quite obviously are NOT
For something which is displayed on a flat screen to appear 3-Dimensional you MUST wear special glasses - this is not the case for their games.

This is like a margarine manufacturer trying to sell their product, calling it "Butter" - they would NEVER get away with that (in Europe at least).

To be honest that ay hinder them more than it helps them. Until I bought a 3D TV, whenever I saw something advertised as 3D I assumed I'd need the glasses so I never looked.

Check your TV - it will have height, depth and width. :D:D:D:D:D:D
