Hello Community,
As an experienced slots player, I want to know more regarding a relatively new software provider named Shady Lady.
I would appreciate any feedback on their regulatories, licensing status, and the integrity of their math models.
Because recently, I have encountered highly unusual payout behavior while testing their game like The Truth and Trap Tower. I am fully aware of how high volatility and standard variance. However, the outcomes raise concerns regarding the configuration of these specific games.
My observations:
  • The Truth: I triggered the "Super Bonus" three separate times, and every instance resulted in a final payout of 0.00.
  • Trap Tower: I triggered the "Super Bonus" four times, and all four sessions similarly ended on a 0.00 return.
  • Multiple basic free spins rounds have also generate repeated 0.00 payouts with some of them being in a row.
Has anyone else encountered this level of play with Shady Lady? Alternatively, is it possible that these are regular 0.00 outcomes, they mathematically designed for a result configurations?
Thanks for any insights.

I’ve played Shady Lady slots since they first arrived on the scene. Their first few releases were fun to play. Then they got into the whole loot box bonus gamble crap and their newer slots have been volatile as hell since. Such a shame for a provider that had promise. They are streamer fodder now.

I saw complaints about their games in other forums well.
Such a shame. I really did enjoy their games, but they are unplayable and don't really feel legit at all.
Still failed to finding any good info and certificates on their games. You have mentioned the lootboxes. Maybe they put all the RTP to that section and some other little features? Ended up game's free spins to be dead.

Today's session have me ended up with 14 regular free spins and 1 super bonus.
5 free spins out of 14 ended with 0.00 win.
Super bonus have me won 1.2x stake.
To how it looked, I'm having assumption that these games are rigged/scripted heavily, or there must be a problem with certification.
With every 3rd bonus free spins on average being 0.00 win, seems like something is really off and it should be flagged to their certification 3rd party company?

@MarkJohnson Is that free to play examples given that shady lady has no uk license or uk certified games?

I tried Trap Tower when it was first released and got the bonus after only a handful of spins. 0.30 with extra bet on. Bonus paid 1.28. I guess I was one of the luckier ones.

Many players have experienced this.
Maybe they are really a black market guys?
I don't think it's possible to have every 3rd bonus on average paid 0.00. I don't think it will pass regulations and certification process, no?

Preach TV is super fun to bonus buy and loot box on demo play on OLBG or slotslaunch

Would I ever put a penny of my money into shady lady and the most volatile slots around?

No.

Because I was being a complete idiot, I gave Truth and Trap Tower another go. It was an absolute joke—4 out of 11 free spins returned exactly zero, 0.00! including two on Trap Tower. Not a single one of the free spins paid out above 3x the stake.

That is the last time I ever play anything from this provider.

Honestly, regardless of my losses, they need to be properly investigated and banned. It's so ridiculously rigged, it's just bad.

It is easily the worst gameplay I have ever experienced in last 10 or so years.

Handing 600 euros to the casino just for 5% to go into this shithouse's people pocket?
Around 30 euros It is definitely not worth to fked up their early reputation.

Moving on from this rigged company.

Probably a good idea!

I just played their new release called Pissed. Did approx 10 mins of spins with extra bet on (increased chance of landing the bonus, 3 or 4 scatters). I did not see one scatter land. Not one.

I normally like to give most slots a one time chance. Shady Lady will no longer be included in this.

I have come across to this title in a new release page and passed around it from a miles away. I will never ever, ever touch this $hite provider. I have also visited their website and looked at their game sheet sections. When I saw what they're advertising there, it proofs that they are lying.
I would not recommend you to go for a second try. Take a part and learn from my mistake.

I certainly won't be playing their shite games again. Pity as some of their early releases were quite good, albeit nerfed now.

I was interested in them as well, up to the point of reality check. That hit me hard.
Trust me, it is not a pleasant feeling, when you enter into several bonuses and every 4th is a 0 win outcome, including supers.
With my many years of gambling, from all providers combined, I have never had so many 0 wins like with a single session of Shady Lady. I have seen many posts in forums where players complain about small bonus wins, or very rarely a 0 wins, but those are very rare occasions. Shady lady screenshots I have speaks for themselves.

shady lady is a greaet provider but if you dont like high volatile slots their games are not for u.

the games can be brutal sometimes but i like the bonus frequency ( even when lots pay a small x) the art is fantastic and the creativity is outstanding.

I do think the same. That was the true reason I have fallen for their traps.
I understand volatility, one of the other providers called Nolimit is considered to be the most brutal one.
I have played their games alot and I still do, but I don't remember having any play time with a single 0 bonus win, yet with Shady Lady it was every 3rd/4th bonus. That was the reason it rises my suspicion on their legitimacy and games odd behaviour.

Questioning their integrity is another topic. It's gambling after all, and their slots are on the extreme volatility side of the spectrum, arguably higher than Nolimit City.

I've seen many max winners on their games, of course. But to question their legitimacy is wild. You went back to their games again and again. Perhaps you're a glutton for punishment, or you were chasing a big win just to be proven wrong. Whatever the case is, I'm staying away because I dislike extreme volitilty slots with a passion, not because I think the provider is illegitimate.

They're also not so easy to find on many online casinos. Bitstarz for example, (my primary online casino) doesn't have them and don't think that they'll be bringing them in the foreseeable future... I would imagine due to their brutal volatile nature.

Yes. Curiosity and likeness made me playing their games for a few days. Either to proof myself, I'm in a terrible luck, or that their games can bring some magic in. Never for winning. It's a gambling a the end, therefore I don't expect big wins, yet, this was on a whole another level. It did beat in 3 days all of my 0 wins over past decade lol.

As an "experiment" so to speak..

Sorry it took me a while to respond.

First off, sorry to hear you've had such a rough experience with our games. And judging by this thread, you're clearly not alone in finding them absolutely brutal at times. We've never set out to make games that appeal to everyone, and we're well aware that our particular flavour of slots won't be everyone's cup of tea.

I won't try to convince anyone that they should enjoy that. Most of our games are very volatile, and Trap Tower is the most volatile game we've made so far. For the math nerds, the standard deviation across our games ranges from roughly 17.3 to 25.6, with Trap Tower sitting at 25.6. For some context, Book of Dead is around 10, while many Nolimit City games sit somewhere in the 15–20 range.

So yes! The games can be nasty. That's a conscious design decision, and it's definitely not going to appeal to everyone.

What I do want to address is the suggestion that the games are scripted or rigged.

They're not.

In fact, one of the reasons they can feel so unforgiving is that we deliberately avoid scripting outcomes to manufacture a nicer-feeling experience.

Take Truth as an example. Once you're in the bonus, regardless of which Truth Realm symbol you've picked or how many sticky symbols you've collected, the probability of landing another one doesn't secretly decrease because you're now in a strong position. If you've built a great game state, we want that state to represent genuine win potential.

The downside is that we also don't give the game a helping hand to make sure every bonus turns into something respectable. Sometimes you build something great and it goes nowhere. Sometimes a bonus pays 0x. With mathematics this volatile, ugly streaks can and will happen.

We'd rather have that than show you a bunch of apparent potential that isn't actually reflected in your chances of winning.

The feature buys are another conscious decision we've made. We wanted to experiment beyond the usual Bonus Buy / Golden Bet setup, which is why we've introduced things like Loot Boxes, Highlight Reels, Gold/Silver/Bronze bonuses and, more recently, the Loot Vault.

Some of the top-end options are, frankly, ridiculously expensive. They're aimed primarily at very high rollers, which is also why we offer the features across a range of price points. You absolutely don't need to buy the most expensive version to have a shot at a big win. The idea is to give players more ways to experience the games and more control over what kind of session they want.

Finally, on certification, because I think that's a completely fair question.

Our main distribution today is through crypto casinos, where we believe a large part of the audience for these kinds of games currently plays. But that doesn't mean the maths is sitting in some untested black box. Our games are tested and certified by the same independent testing labs used across the wider industry.

The company was founded by people who have been in this industry for a long time. We're very aware that if we want Shady Lady to be around for the long run, trust matters a hell of a lot more than squeezing a few extra euros out of somebody's session.

You can absolutely hate the volatility. You can think 0x bonuses suck, we won't argue with you there. And you can decide our games simply aren't for you.

But they aren't scripted.

If you have any more questions, feel free to reach out and we'll answer as openly as we can. And who knows, maybe one of these days we'll manage to make a game you actually like :)

Thank you for having a representative from the provider respond here. That is appreciated.
Well, I have been playing games for many years across different providers and volatility levels. I have also done a lot of research into slot mechanics and math to ensure I play responsibly and strategically. Even when playing those extremely high-volatility games like Tombstone RIP, DOA2, Mental, or San Quentin 2, which are by goodle the most volatile games on the market, I have never experienced a situation where, on average, every third or fourth bonus pays out absolutely 0.
I also noticed that when playing Truth and Trap Tower, specific reel sets appeared from the second spin onward, making the outcome feel predetermined.
Regarding volatility, fairness, and randomness: having multiple sessions with almost identical outcomes—specifically, a total 0 payout on average every 3rd, 4th bonus/superbonus combined—feels highly unusual given the number of symbols in the game, symbols per reels, and winning lines and number of free spins.
My two primary concerns are:
Repetitive 0 Payouts: Given the combination of reels, symbols, winning pathways, and free spins, it does not feel mathematically right to see such repetitive 0 payout outcomes.
High Frequency of 0: The number of 0-value bonus payouts in a single session of roughly 2,000 spins is another extreme level to compare to years of similar playtime on extreme volatility games from Nolimit City, Relax Gaming, or other studios.
While I appreciate your info and reply, my firsthand experience, screenshots of 0 outcomes within a few ours of play, says it all here. I hope you will take this feedback and these comments into consideration when reviewing future games from your studio, even though I won't touch these games anymore. The games look fantastic visually, but the gameplay doesn't feels legit. This comes purely from my real-money experience.

Thanks for the detailed response. I completely understand that, based on your experience, no amount of me explaining the maths is going to make those 0x bonuses feel any less brutal or unusual.

I can assure you there's nothing in the games deliberately creating those streaks or predetermining the outcomes. That said, we're not deaf to how the games are being experienced either, and we'll keep that in mind going forward.

And thanks for the kind words about the visuals at least – we'll take the small win where we can get it. Will enjoy that with my bourbon tonight. Cheers.

Most games from Shady Lady are high volatility, so you have to be prepared for a lot of risk. But their games are very creative and completely different from typical slots, and it is definitely possible to win on them too!

For example, in "Black Friday" I killed once 300x Karen during a regular bonus :D

I also once won over 1000x in "Orphan Organ", which is one of my favourite games. It’s incredibly well made, with great graphics, atmosphere and music - especially when all the orphans start singing together :D

You can like their slots or not, but for sure, they are not a scam. You just need luck, as always when playing slots

There we go. And this week I had a meeting with a supplier and exactly the above point came up: Shady Lady is just on a different spectrum of volatility. Not suitable really for UK due to absense of bonus buys etc.

Therefore im not even sure why OP started this topic. He shouldn't be able to play the game at all. Let alone, doubt them if you don't know the inside and outs.

To close the arguments that belongs to my understanding of volatility, I can assure you I do. Behavior of bonus and weight of symbols spread across the reels and probabilities for number of spins, just doesn't line up here.
I'm strongly convinced that if anyone here including representative will have same game session as myself, it will strongly rise the same question whether the provider is leigh or not.
Answering your thoughts, yes I'm able to play via VPN if you have ever heard of it. You have probably not seen my screenshots?
To summarise it all up, I'm strongly standing to my ground here. You think I was collecting 0x bomuses for over the weeks, months or years?

I've never personally suggested that Shady Lady slots are rigged. I have commented on their extreme volatility, and the disappointment that they are making slots that only slot streamers (and high rollers with real money) are willing to pay for, and therefore enjoy. Spinning their base games, even with extra bet on, is neither fun nor filled with potential. A real shame as they have fun themes and some great mechanics.

I long since filed SL in the "too difficult, do not play" category along with Hacksaw and NLC

I thought NLC had a good idea with Kenneth Must Die, where you could flick a switch and reduce the max win by 80% to lower the volatility. Unfortunately they haven't repeated that experiment since, and it is still fairly brutal even on that setting.

the new "pissed" is a real balance drainer, but it can also add 20kx to your balance in a few seconds.

i played the above game a lot with big bonus bet but its still super hard to bonus it, didnt notice a big differnce between bonus bet and big bonus bet (bonusbet is 1,5x and big one 5x)

just my 2 cents, i dont doubt the fairness of your games at all @Marla Singer

Saw this new game. By looks, it's nice, by gameplay it's the same as the others.

I saw this new game.
I would love to see non-streamer, no-test account player hitting 20kx haha. Maybe on test accounts it's possible?
Point I wanted to address is not that, but alot of talks happening here, yet not a single can explain of how it is even possible to have such a experience like I had at the first place? Given the odds of repetition, number of symbols x reels x number of free spins?
I could take it, if this can happen to be seen in a one person per year or two, but having it back and forth in a couple of hours? We cannot speak here about randomness, that's for sure.

Orphan Organ does perform the same way as other games from this weird provider. Same pattern of every 3rd, 4th bonus rounds that equals to 0 "win". (I hate when providers add to 0 result a WIN wording).
Frankly? I don't know what else to say.
Maybe uploading 0 results on regular basis will attract someone, who will take a lead and run a fairness investigation of this provider?

My bad. I did take a try after that post saying Orphan Organ is good. No it's not!
I am genuinely off from this provider for good now. It all stinks by some heavy scripting and fake statistics. Representative will always say otherwise to "protect" their business.
Regardless what they say its a stinking proof.
